I would not use olive oil. It could become rancid. A better alternative that is food safe is Mineral oil. Walnut oil is also a good choice as you said. Love the pasta cutter and the technique for the rolling pin!!

Thnks for you many years of craftsmanship! Do you like PEAR wood for a rolling pin? WOW! It seems you will not be using bearings! So! the handle simply RIDES on the central pin that goes THROUGH it and is glued into the roller! I knew there was a way to make a rolling pin totally from wood!
How did you finish the ends of the French rolling pin? Appreciate your thoughts on turning round handles for the American Style with no need of a trunnion?
