Multi use beer bottle: 8c, multi use beer bottle with "Bügel": 15c; bigger multi use glas bottles 15c; all one time use bottles or cans 25c; and new since 2024, even milk drinks in plastic that contain at least 50% milk: 25c

I believe that eye contact while toasting has its origins in the Middle Ages, possibly even going back to ancient times! Particularly in aristocratic circles, there was always competition for dominance - even among family members - and so it was not uncommon for assassinations to take place in order to get competitors out of the way! Poison attacks in which the poison was mixed into drinks were particularly popular! If the cups were now filled to the brim, the drinks poured from one drinking vessel into the other when they were clinked - if one of the cups had contained poison, both drinks would have been poisoned! By looking into the eyes you wanted to check whether one of the people showed signs of nervousness (sweat on the forehead, a nervous, uncontrolled twitching of the face, restless shifting back and forth on the chair or even an excuse not to drink anymore or me have to say goodbye), which made this person suspicious as a potential assassin - too bad when everyone had a perfect poker face!!!😂

I don't like them neither, I visited Croatia several times and these nudist beaches are everywhere, when you walk along sea, you can't avoid them and they just illegally stole that land by putting some "nudist only" sign there, they have no right to occupy these places. When you want to avoid those overcrowded beaches, you walk few hundred m, then you are happy that you found really nice place and you turn your head and you see giant fat whale on rock with ugly little penis and you run out of there, I hate it.

In Catalonia, on the Costa Brava, the naked people on the beaches are almost exclusively Catalans. I haven't met any Germans there yet, but I have met some French people. In Catalonia, you can be naked on almost every beach and people like to do it. Young people as well as old people.

4:20 i think way more important is the "keep right" law. Yes its actually a law to always use the rightmost lane on the Autobahn. Its to keep traffic going, as you are only allowed to overtake somone on the left you have to always use the rightmost lane you can use, most of the time thats Trucks going around 80 km/h and the second lane is often the slower public so that the faster ones can overtake them on the left. I have seen quite a few Tourist or cars from other countries driving on the leftmost lane or the middle lanes even though every other lane is empty. Dont be that person, it can happen really quickly that the autobahn is getting busier and in that case you might end up beeing the cause for a traffic jam.

Some things i want to clarify:
Dont pass a vehicle on the right is correct but it applies to all streets in germany even though there are exceptions. One of these exeption are city highways with two or more lanes wher you are allowed to pass on both sides to keep the traffic on both lanes ven and fluid. in general you have to drive on the most right free lane where there is no obstacle. and you can only pass an obstacle on the left side. Also there is a signifcantly bigger part of the Autobahn with no speed limit then mentioned here. and it can be one any number of lanes starting from two.
Eye contact and saying sheers was from medieval times wher if someone you drank wiht poisoned your drink it was believed that they cannot look in the eyes without you noticing. Her example with bad sex seems to be a family or local tradition at least i dont know that.
Du and Sie are not impolite or polite they are formal and the rules for using them is actualy very similar to the rules in english with using sir or maam or with your introduction to letters. eg. To whom it may concern as a formal and just Hi as informal. So as a rule of thumb if you would use a formal greeting if you adress the perosn in front of you ina letter use Sie and if you can just say Hi in a letter you can say du.
Ruhezeit is not as strict enforced as it may seem. It basically just is a way to let people rest after a long day in appropriate ours and to gove them the option to legally have a basis to report someone who is juist way to noisy as in he just strat hammering at 2 am in his room. Of course you can go to concerts that go past thta time, or visit Restaurants clubs and parties. if you have a bbq with some music on in your garden after 10pm normaly you would not begetting a visit from the police. the biggest Problems are normaly in big appartment blocks, when neighbors hate each other or in certain distircist with poor people. (Not to attack on poor or poorer peole just a fact.)
So Sauna and Beaches: There are three main sauna types in germnay: Where everyone is mixed and naked (sometimes only for people 18+), the one that usualy is like that but has special men and women days where they are separated and admittedly the minprity with textils on. The first one is most of the time really not problematic because, their is staff that has the power to ban people if they misbehave, if children are allowed they are definitely not allowed to go without a parent and phones and other devices are strictly regulated or straight out forbidden.
The FKK Beaches are most often found on the coast to the baltic and nordic sea, there are part of the beacches marked through signs where you have to be naked to stay, if you are a guest. (Like if someone sells Ice cream on the beach he doesnt have ot get naked beffore selling there just to get dressed again.) I would disagree that it has to do with old people getting old and then suddelny liking it it is more like the current old generation grew up with this. I did too juts like the rest of my family and friendgroup coming from the northern part of germany. (I am 20) So we dont have aproblem with it. it is differnt to the Sauna beacuse not the majority of them are FKKbut you can find them more often and in general that public find it at most odd.
Hope that clears up some things and if you ahve any real questions about the stuff i am happy to answer.

I think it's a generalization, that german people suddenly enjoy nudism, as they get older. If you're not used to it from an early age on, it's more unlikely, that you will start with it, as you get older. The thing is, that older generations are more used to it, they already did this as children, maybe with their own parents. Especially when you're from east germany. Nudism was a big thing in the GDR, but way less common in west germany. And that didn't really change, when germany was reunified. So you might see more older people at nudist beaches, but that's because a lot of them might have an east german background, and they were raised that way. But times change, and nudism isn't as fashionable for younger generations, as it used to be. And that's why you find less young folks in those places. Younger generations don't have the same innocent and natural view at nudity, because they tend to sexualize more, if you think of all the pornography today, so they are more shamed about nudity. Nudity in saunas is a different story. That was always very common everywhere in germany (and it still is), and it has to do with hygienic rules, less to do with nudist culture. I personally don't know anyone who's into nudism, or goes to nudist places. I know people who go to saunas, but even this is something that makes me feel uncomfortable. I always declined invitations to saunas, by neighbours or friends, because it would feel awkward to me. Accidently meeting a coworker at the sauna (which might happen) would be my nightmare. XD By the way, it's forbidden to wear clothes at nudist beaches, because the people who wear clothes at these places are usually the creeps, who are just there to stare. Also interesting: Nudity is less of a problem in germany, because nudity is less sexualized here, compared to other cultures. That's why it's not really a problem to see nudity on TV here, as long as there's no sexual action or context. Not all nudity is meant to be pornographic. Theoretically you could take a walk in the city all nude, without getting in trouble with the law. As long as you don't directly molest people, you can do what you want. Of course it's very unusual, people might stare and laugh, but most likely there would be no outrage or shocked reactions, but amusement. XD Worst thing that could happen is, that places might show you the door. Similar to the "no shoes, no shirt, no service" - thing in the US. Of course nothing of that means that everyone in germany feels comfortable with being nude around other people. I certainly don*t. It's a very personal thing and depends on the individual. We're just more tolerant about it, and accept that others like it.

    • @andyx6827

Agree. I have friends that go to the sauna or a nude beach almost every week. And then I have friends who have been to neither in their whole life 😅 The former were brought up with it, the latter were not brought up with it.

When I was younger, I never went to a nude beach. I was very, very prudish. It wasn't until I was 28 and I moved to Spain (Catalonia). There, it's allowed on every beach and younger people do it, and of course older people do it. So one day I thought, why not try it yourself? After all, it's even more normal in Catalonia than in Germany. Since then, I've done it more often and there's really nothing wrong with it.

    • @gequetscht1031
      @gequetscht1031 Місяць тому +5

Iirc you can't just walk around naked everywhere. That is "Erregung öffentlichen Ärgernisses".
But about nude beaches: I do think, that more old people use them, but I don't think it is because of sexualisation, but because of body image. But even on not nude beaches it became quite common to not wear bikini tops, since that is now allowed. And that is something mostly young people do.

The deposit on bottles and cans is not correct. It is not 10 cents. It is 8 cents for glass beer bottles with a crown cap, 15 cent for reusable water and soda bottles and beer bottles with a spring lock, and it is 25 cent for one-way bottles. There is no deposit however on wine bottles, sparkling wine bottles and hard liquor bottles.

Actually the Germans love FKK (free body culture) because it was invented in the DDR and the people loved the freedom they got by taking their clothes off at the beach. Many old people are reminding themselves when they were younger or their parents where young, they had not a lot of freedom in the DDR so they just appreciate this little thing and kept it as a tradition (sorry my English isn't that well. It's a lot more easier to explain it in German)

3:30 As a matter of fact - it is exactly like that in most countries, it's just not enforced everywhere. Take the USA for example - most US americans think that overtaking on the right is allowed which is true for a small number of states, however in most states it is actually not allowed (the rules vary by state).
8:15 "you" is actually the formal form, not informal as most people think. You is the equivalent of the German "ihr" (2. person plural). The informal "du" does exist in english as well - it's called "thou". However - that word has basically vanished from everyday english. It only appears in poetic writing these days - and of course in old texts.

She said some parts wrong about the Autobahn - most parts of the Autobahn have no speed limit (70%), but we have an advised speed limit of 130kph when there is no speed limit sign on the Autobahn. Being faster than 130kph will not cause you a ticket, but in the case of an accident even if it was dry weather etc. they will check if would have been able to avoid the accident if you have followed the suggested speed of 130kph. If that is the case the insurance won't pay all damages and you count as partly guilty for the accident. Another thing she failed to explain is the general rule by law to use the right side of the road. You should use the right lane and only change to a more left lane to pass other cars and then return to the right lane, but you can stay in a more left lane for a longer time if the right lane is mostly full. Trucks (all vehicles above 3.5to) have to always use the right lane, can't go faster than 80kph and are only allowed to use the left lane to pass if they can do it in 45s. The same rules are for buses and cars with trailers only that they have a speed limit of 100kph. If the Autobahn has more than 2 lanes trucks, buses and cars with trailers are not allowed to use the most left lane.
That about bad luck when crossing the glasses (hands) is the same in Germany with glasses and when you greet someone, too. And just a about keeping eye contact. You not only have to keep eye contact when you cheer, you have to keep eye contact when you talk to someone. Not keeping eye contact is seen as rude. Keeping eye contact in Germany is important, because many thing work non verbal, just a nod or when driving giving okay 'I've seen you you can cross the street' between driver and pedestrian etc.
Quiet time is from midnight to 6 in the morning and if it's a high holiday like Easter or Christmas it is the whole day. Sunday is quiet time to, not as strict, but trucks are not allowed to drive on a Sunday or a public holiday. Normal public holidays are like Sundays. Quiet time outside of those times are city rules. For example a spa town can have additional quiet time from noon to 3pm, to keep the town quiet for their guests. And if you live in a rental, the landlord is able to define quiet time for the rental complex, too.
FKK (nudism (free body culture)) is not only at beaches and it's not only old people. Everywhere can be an area where FKK is allowed. For example in the English Garden in the center of Munich are areas for FKK with people of all ages and there are literally clothed people walking through the area and there are no fences. Munich alone has dozens of FKK areas and even if there is no FKK in most places only the bottom of a bathing suit is required. There are hotels and camp grounds that are nudist only. Sauna is always nude and the towel is not to cover yourself but to sit on or you get burned on the hot Sauna benches. Outside the Sauna cabin most people use a bathrobe or wrap a towel around to keep themselves warm after the heat of the Sauna. Most Saunas are mixed, but there are some that offer options to separate by gender - for example a few hours only access for women or they have separate areas. BTW keeping your clothes (bathing suit) like it is done it the USA is unhealthy, because you can't really sweat and the clothes evaporate chemicals in the high temperatures. There are studies about it.

The "du" and "sie" in germany is pretty hard for me especially at work. Because we have 2 type of management styles. First is authoritative and cooperative. As you guessed in the authorative you the boss won't accept you to call him "du" it is always "sie" in the formal way. All jobs I had before where authorative and then I got into an cooperative. It was like a second family everyone talked the same way to each other and if you had a problem with the boss you could just say it like "don't you think it's better if i do this or that first instead of what you told me?" and you can talk about it. It took me month to call my boss by the first name instead of the last name and she got mad about it when i keep going the formal way but I was used to it, it felt wrong to call my bass by the name and call him "du". 😅

@@JF1908xThere are some extra curvy sections or steep parts that have speed limits because of their geometry (ie, for safety reasons). But most sections with speed limits are the more busy sections, where a speed limit enables more uniform and smoother traffic and thus enable a higher more traffic without causing traffic jams. Limiting the speed on busy sections also reduces accidents there. The same idea applies to busy interchanges and tunnels.
Then there are also some sections where reducing traffic noise is the reason for a speed limit.

By the way, you're not allowed to drive on the left all the time. If the right lane is so clear that you can drive there for at least 20 seconds without changing lanes, you have to drive there. Otherwise there can also be a fine for driving on the left

Don't let the previous speaker fool you.
The fact that it is officially called the Federal Republic and not just the Republic shows that this database does not exist.
Where trees are recorded has primarily to do with who the tree belongs to.
The majority of forests in Germany are tree farms and not natural forests. These trees therefore belong to a private individual or a company, which of course keeps records of which trees are on their land; it is, after all, their commodity.
In nature reserves, the federal state is responsible for recording the trees.
Trees that are not on a tree farm or a nature reserve but, for example, on a village square, in your garden or similar, are managed by the municipality.
Lists that collect all of these trees and list them uniformly are not official, but are usually created by NGO nature conservation associations or by researchers for their research.
