Like the hints n tips versions of your videos, not to bad either considering the amount of vodka you consume
Alot better style these one mate. 👌 easy to film when you haven't got targets on site to achieve. Doing these are much better I think
Do you think? It would be better to have all the sound one volume
I try and bring the sound up in between talking like on a radio station. What do you reckon bud. Im not sure
Fair play lad...sore roofrack affer that one 😂
Brilliant video, learned so much from you, cheers! 👏🏻
My Pleasure bud. 😊✔️
Mate I’ve just found your videos and love how you explain every step. I’m a teacher from Germany and used to work in England as a builder before going to university. This takes me back to good old times in the trade. Thanks a lot and keep going! 💪🏽

You got skills!!!! Awesome job....enjoyed watching...take care
Thank you buddy 😁😁😁
Legend 😁
Oioi 😆😆😁😁😁
Nice one mate
Thanks mate. 😁 😁
Nicely done mate great tips. FAIRY LIQUID if you were to look at it under a microscope all the bubbles are different sizes this apparently can make the mortar weak and unstable , in my experience this does seem to be the case, Febmix and other Admixes under a microscope the bubbles are uniform and all the same size which produces a stable mix that's how one QS explained it to me once👍👍
Pretty much as I thought bud I heard never use it under ground in subs. Super structures its ok. All u really know out of my experience is it makes a lovely old gauge of muck 😆😆 so nice to use hey

Thanks mate. Happy days. Same to you hope uour all well bud 👍
Lovely old job Tricky I love them type of jobs tricky I would give myself two days to build that by myself maybe get it done in day and a half did you do that in a day Tricky cause if you did that is serious bit of work on your own fair play fella👍
7 hours bud. 5 first day. And left the brick on edge for the next. I could of it done by 3.30pm but no need to kick the ass out of it. I had a live show to set up that night 🌙 so came back for a couple to pop the top on the next day. 😊😊
Great Video👍🏻Very professional and love that you take pride in your work.
Thanks so much 🙏 😁😁

Clean work, just a thought would a engineering brick been better for the BOE to give better frost protection.
Nice quality work. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Adam nice garden wall there brick work looks neat as always mate 🧱👌
Thanks Daniel 😁 😊
We use a petrol belle at work and have never had a problem setting the mixer up like that however we drop it on the drum not the handles and haven't had a problem with oil. Hope this helps someone.
Nice
Good work Tricky, can't believe how few subscribers you have compared to some of the planks on here! Maybe a gimmick would help push your numbers up? Dig out that 80's suit with the sleeves rolled up perhaps? Big love brother
Thanks berni. I try my hardest to make the channel grow. With time and effort it will come. Rome wasn't built in a day. But all roads lead to rome as they say. I just want to entertain people and teach afew things aswell on the way...😊😊😊
@@johnwilkins5850 hello mate . 👍 I haven't forgotten you my mate. You saved me went I was down Tuesday I should have a sum landing. I will never forget who helped me in times of hardship 😚😚
Nice job Tricky. I thought you explained that really well - clear, concise and to the point. Charlie C has some great tips and points but I really struggle to follow what he says because his brain jumps around so much! 😀
Keep it simple. There is no Need to be complicated. Too many gadgets and tools are a pain in the butt. No need for any of them. Especially on site. Moving for plot to plot. You need to be light and on your feet not carrying around half of screwfix in your bag. It's not rocket science hey .
Lovely video buddy
Thanks Lee. I enjoyed making that one 😁😁
@@trickybrickys
Very informative buddy 😜😎🤟
Hey man nice video, can you make a water storage tank using brick walls similar to what you do in the video ? Or would you use a different technique
I want to store about 1000 liters, one square meter so nothing too big.
I would be more inclined to use a plastic tank. And put brickwork around the outside I think. I've built a raised pond before using this method. But the pond was lined with a rubber liner. Hope this helps 🙏
Yep.! Fairy liquid kills the cement.! A few years back when I was a foreman we carried out work for the local councils, they never allowed plasticiser, only lime, one particular job ( 2 storey block of flats) I walked out of the site office and could smell lemon washing up liquid and the subbies had poured a load into the water butt ( no silos in those days) the labourer gave a load of bollox when I questioned it.! Walked over to where the Bri lies were laying and all you could smell was lemon.!!!! Needless to say all the work they had done that day was pulled down…..
That feb we use makes the mix as good as with fairy. So I've stocked up on it. Brilliant stuff. Thanks for your comment bud 😁😁
Great vid. I learnt a lot.Just about to have a go at pretty much the same project. My one concern is the wall is to run alongside a driveway which slopes down to the road. Did I miss in the vid how you level each end to the other? I want the wall level and not to follow the slope of the driveway. So its going to be more bricks at the road end than the house end. Should I us a laser level? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I forgot to mention, I cant level the footings as the driveway is made of reinforced concrete about 15cm thick with block paving ontop. So I think the concrete underneath the blocks would be sufficient footings for a small wall? just that it is sloping. Hope that makes sense...
You have to cut your first coarse to suit the fall in the drive. 😉
Great video; just asking if you could have used ‘Sussex Bond’ for a stronger construction?
No mate. If I was going to do a strong bond it would be English. The 3/4 bond looks awful . The customer asked for stretcher bond. And as a basic wall tutorial. Stretcher is what the people want to learn. 😁😁 thanks for your comment 👍 🙏
Just wondering, are those bricks suitable underground? I thought they had to be engineering type. Thanks!
Yes they are fine 🙂
Good job mate👍🍻think i missed my vocation in life😂really interesting to watch👍
Cheers 🍻 buddy 😁😁
Great work mate garden wall looks great, need to treat yourself to a new small level looks like that ones due for retirement,
Nah just needs a clean. Tom coe borrowed it. And that's how I got it back. But hey. He payed for my tyson fury ticket 🎟 so it all good 😘😘
@@trickybrickys Fair enough sounds like a great deal.
Nice one bruva,....... I said nice one bruva 😎💪🏻💪🏻🥊🥊😍
Vlogs of private jobs definitely suit you better Tricky! 😉
Good job!!
Oioi pk 😁😁😁 im starting to evolve. 😆😆
I regret so much not getting into this trade
Until winter 🤣🤣🤣
Hiya mate I looked in to why you can’t use washing up liquid for bricklaying, if you use it all up your misses can’t wash up after tea 😉😂👍
😆😆😆
Lovely old job 👍🏻
Are you back on site or have you got lots of this type of work on for the summer?
Bit of both bud. Got some coming in. But not quiet enough to keep busy full time. So I'll mix the two up bud. Best of both 😁😁
Always dry lay your bricks and lay first corse in then build corners
Lovely video, how deep are your footings?
450mm deep for that wall. Obviously if the wall was higher and heavier the footing would be deeper but that is ample for a wall of the size 😊
Nice job thinking of subscribing learned such a lot from this one vlog,🤭😂🤣😂🤣
😁😁😁 🤣🤣🤣🧱🧱🧱🧱 welcome to the channel 🤪
@trickybrickys thank you, just been watching reruns, are you back in Wales?😁
I'm driving back this evening bud. Hopefully less traffic 👍🙌
@trickybrickys nice one have safe journey👍
great video mate. would you build a 15 metre straight wall usiing this exact method, it has 2 returns but is stepped at 5 metre intervals?
I would imagine so bud. I'd put a expansion joint in every 5 m on that
thanks mate@@trickybrickys
so essentially your building 3 seperate walls with the expansion joint seperating them?
Do they still sell the marshalltown trowels with the rounded end or is that a old one
Like a gauging trowel. I think so bud yes
Kinda get the thinking but I’ve always pushed my mixer on the drum to put the stand in and lift it up and I’ve never had an issue from doing that
How did you run the line through first? To make sure it lined through straight, was there pins or did you measure from a certain point to keep it square ?
I did the 3 4 5 rule at the corner bud. I should have put that in the video.
I get you mate, good video though
Hi, sorry for my question, but why are you leaving that gap(cavity wall) between wall layers? If I could do that method but with brickwork of shed wall, should I use sometimes some conectros (sorry have no clue what is proper name for it) to attach one wall to other one? Many thanks.
Yes you can use wall ties. And cement goes in the gap
Nice little job, neat and tidy, what time did you start and finish, have a good week my mate
Started 8am Friday finished at 1pm. Then popped in Saturday 9am finished at 11am. Only round the corner. 2 minutes from.mine. so 2 nice early days 😁 7 hours total on my own. 600 bricks 10 blocks and the brick on edge 😁😁
@@trickybrickys could do with a few more of those
All day long. I'd love to do them all the time.
Great 👍 job tricky lovely 🧱 wall
Lovely old job tricky 👌👍👊... What price did u get for that job mate if u don't mind me asking tricky...
800 labour only bud
7 hours work 😊
Quality mate 🍻👌👍👊lovely old job indeed tricky 💯😁
This was kinda relaxing to watch, thanks for the video. I have two questions if I may. 1. If you were building a taller garden wall (say 6') would you add a DPC? 2. In this video, I noted that you didn't fill the dip in the center of the bricks for the top edging bricks, is that because they aren't taking any weight, so just a little mix around the edges is sufficient? Thanks again for the video, I want to watch more now! :)
No damp on a outside wall.. why would you put a damp in is the question 🤔. Its a outside wall not a house. And the top brick is full. It's fills as I compress it. 2 years on and still looking mint 👌
Thanks so much for the prompt reply, appreciated. I think I had just assumed they were always used (I have zero experience to draw from) and thought maybe they'd also help protect the cement between the bricks above it. Thanks again for the reply, really enjoyed watching you work. :)
Good to be down to earth professionalism, on you tube for a change. How long did it take you to do the job ?
It was a 2 day job bud. First day building the wall then a few hours putting the brick on edge on and giving everything a good clean down 😊
Good to see I meant, I’m a nightmare for typos. Thanks for the reply that’s good going 🙂
the frost line where I live is at 36"....do i have put my footing at that depth? I always thought i did but I am not sure. Any advice would be great
It's a outside wall it's always going to freeze same as anything else outside. the deeper the footing the better I'd say and build it when it's not frozen . And it will be fine
@@trickybrickys thanks a lot. My thinking is that I'm going to built up most of the wall with cinder blocks or caps then use bricks from where the grade starts.
I only came across your video today. Awesome job! Just a quick question - you are making a 0.5:5 mix ratio. I always thought 1:3 was the right one. I'm about to try to build one myself but now I'm a bit confused about the ratio.
4-1 sand to cement. The mortar has to be quicker than the bricks. So if anything ever cracks the mortar goes first not the bricks you are using. You can check this stat out on the side of any blue circle bag of cement. All the correct ratios are printed on the side. 😁😁 hope that helps
Thanks for the reply. Last one - where do you get these bricks? Or the type? (I'm really newbie at this)
@@mismily-sb7hr I woukd recommend Travis perkins. And download there app. You will get better prices. They are called Atherstone reds. But the maybe different ones on the site that suit your property better 😁😁
Thanks for all the replies!
Lovely old job trick❤✌️👊
Not headers they're brick on edgeeeeee 🤣
I know 🤣🤣 I get muddled up sometimes 😝😝
Does that wall need no weep vents or drainage to deal with water behind it from the soil? About to replace wooden sleeper walls in my garden with similar height to what you built there so brilliant video to help with that but I’m wondering about drainage.
There was very little retaining being done by this wall bud. But if I was doing a sleeper replacement I'd put in drainage yes. 2in bt pipe is best 😁
@@trickybrickys could I ask what bt means? Is this drainage behind the wall or through it? You make it look super easy but I’m hoping if I take my time it will look okay. Again, great videos.
British telecom ducting buddy. 😊😊
@@trickybrickys never heard of that, will look into it.
Sorry to ask again but I’m now about to start this and feeling a bit overwhelmed. Should I just build the wall then core drill weep holes afterwards (using some plastic pipe inserted), or build them in as I go? I just can’t work out in my head how you get the weep hole through both brick skins in a wall like you have built.
How many bricks is in the wall?
600 bricks 10 blocks and the brick on edge bud. 7 hours work spread over 2 days . 😊😊
Mb a stupid question but why would you not include your blocks into your corners? As in first course blocks then bricks on top. Genuine question
Possibly due to stability? It’s the only thing I can think of with my very limited knowledge and experience
Mainly for the video to demonstrate how to build a brick corner. We had plenty of bricks to use. Alot of walls don't need blockwork. So I figured it's best to show the way to do it 😊
They say now that you shouldn't use fairy liquid in the muck because it creates too many bubbles inside which apparently weakens it. I don't really know if I agree but better safe than sorry 🤣
Where's Donald is he still pointing up in the attic😂
😆😆😆 no need for old Donald on that one. I was only there for a bit
I'm not a bricklayer but I have a sincere question. How come those Bricky mortar laying things aren't used more often? I don't see them being used on any site videos. If they are faster, more precise and cleaner then how come?
Because 1 they are not faster . 2 they are not more precise and 3 they are not cleaner. The bricky tool thing. Was for dumb nuts to learn with. To be honest it was a gimmick tool.. I saw them on Qvc 🤣🤣 learn the proper way buddy. 😉 Good luck mate
@@trickybrickys I guess I fell for the advertising, lol. What do you thing of 3D printed houses? I think the lumpy walls look horrendous.
@@Kousaburo I've got a feeling they will crack as no expansion joints in them. The ruffness of the would be rendered out on the outside or glad and drylined on the inside so you never see it I'd imagine 👍😁
