- A social 6-year-old lion and an old solitary tiger are putting their differences aside to be life-long friends at Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary in Georgia. Lions and tigers, widely known to be the two top wild animals of the feline family in the animal kingdom. In nature, what you’re seeing here is as unlikely sight as you’ll ever see. But at this sanctuary in Georgia, it’s an odd pairing that, actually, came naturally.

Lions and tigers are not felines. You can call them part of the "cat" family (a loose term), but they are not felines. They belong to the genus *panthera*

There are cave paintings that are 40,000 years old that show European cave lions doing the same head rub behavior.

Baloo is one HUGE black bear! He doesn't look like he's missed many meals. Our local wild black bears are much smaller.
I don't think Baloo is a black bear... He didn't look like one. No matter how much black bears eat, their body wouldn't grow that big- especially Baloo was in the same size as his big cat buddies... I think Baloo is a brown bear.

There's a reason for that. For 1, when they're tame they are extremely cuddly. For 2, they were originally created for us as companions, and the most beloved of all companions in the Garden of Eden. The urge to be close to them remains despite the Fall.

Remember humans are beasts like any other, our species proliferates because we care for our young- they wouldn't survive otherwise...we wouldn't survive.
So when we see young creatures we often think "awwww" because we're supposed to.
It's more than than hokem or fairy stories, so please, stay away from the lions and tigers.
They are not here to be our friends.

Look at them. Each respecting the other but being friends. If only people could be like that.
95% of us are like that. And just like these cats in their natural environment, there is a small percentage that never gets along. If you think, that is not true, you need to educate yourself. The thing is the small percentage in a wild population of cats such as this would be corrected by the others, and/or killed/exiled. We HUMANS as a whole are far above. Hell, we let the weak and useless of society stay alive.

I'm originally from Atlanta, but I only recently discovered this trio existed myself.
Wish I had gotten a chance to see them in person when I was younger and not just in UA-cam clips today.
This is sad that they keep those animals in that shitty cage untill they die. Just release them into the wild !

So nice to see Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary providing some enclosures that look like they are doing their best to keep the cat's as happy and comfortable as they can considering these animals couldn't be released back into the wild. Keep up the great work!

That reminds me of the rescued tiger, lion & bear trio.

They were rescued from the basement of a drug-lord.
They had a horrible childhood, the lion cub had his nose hurt really bad.
So they bonded, because they just had one another & it would had been cruel to separate them.
So, they were put in the same enclosure of the rescue facility.
They loved each other so much.
Beautiful friendship...but it still makes me sad to see those magnificent creatures in such a small place.
Still safer than in the black market 😞
It saddens me to see that big ole bear by himself. He’s gotta be lonely without his 2 bf’s. I remember seeing their story years ago and thought they were a very special crew. I wonder if he sees a version of the way his friends were in the two younger versions of his two long friends. We could learn a lot from them. We are all different, but in the long run we need each other.

You know, I once read a book about 3 abandoned baby animals (tiger, lion, and black bear cubs) who all went to the same enclosure in the zoo, so if you look up tiger lion and black bear being friends, then you’ll probably find it

Bagheera was from India and was a black panter, which is a leopard. Jaguars live in South America only. They weren't necessarily enemies in the book or the 1967 movie since Shere Khan didn't have any issues with other animals, only Mowgli.
Additionally, in the show Jungle Cubs, Bagheera and Shere Khan are friends.
Bagheera was a leopard and in the Jungle Book he and Shere Khan the tiger are adversaries. Kids watch JB and grow up hating tigers as evil. Jim Corbett who hunted maneaters in India called the tiger a 'gentleman'. He said people can walk within 10 feet of a tiger in the jungle and not know it. If the tiger is injured or protecting its cubs, then its a different story.
Watched something similar before on you tube and it ended saying that the tiger had died I was expecting something similar! Glad it wasn’t and they are still loving each others unique company x
