The story of Helen has been on my mind. To be exact, her relationship with Gregor; was he like a father to her..did he possibly take her in as a child and this is why Helen felt drawn to rescue Anola? I would find it interesting to speculate on this further…
Maybe Helen’s Father was an inventor like Gregor and then he died, leaving Gregor to raise her. It’s undeniable that Helen and Gregor have a bond. They were ‘outsiders’ together in the Atoll. Side Note: My husband is an RC Enthusiast and RC Repairman - if you want he can make your toy Trimaran Remote Controlled. He would just have to make 2 very small holes at the under the bottom of the boat (electronics inside) and you would be able to turn it left, right, forward and backwards with a remote. Or if you want the sail to go up as well via remote, that would be easy to do, but he would need to do more modification. Just some thoughts. If you are I interested in making the Trimaran RC let me know please - He would love to do this for the Channel.

If you're looking for suggestions for future videos, I have two: 1. Mark Isham's rejected music for the film; there are varying reports on exactly how much Isham wrote, and I've always wondered what his score would have sounded like compared to Howard's. 2. I remember way back in the early days of the internet in the 90's that there was some kind of online game tie-in for Waterworld that had live action cutscenes similar to 'The Quest For Dry Land' where you played a nameless drifter who visited various locations like the Atoll and other outposts (by clicking on arrows to play pre-made cutscenes to move around) before trying to sneak inside a Smoker outpost where you had to give a password in Portugreek; however, the last time I played it, the site had been abandoned or parts of it shut down, as you couldn't pass beyond that point. I don't remember anything else beyond that, and an online search turns up nothing, but I know I played it; if that game could be rediscovered, that could be an interesting look at a long-forgotten promotional piece.

@@TheAtoll Opps, my bad about the music. Guess I have more watching to do! With regards to the game, my memories about it are VERY hazy, but here's what else I remembered after sleeping on it: 1. The entire game was a first person (you never saw yourself and never talked) interactive movie, and used either real sets or CGI locations that had actors blue-screened into it, or a mix of the two. I'm leaning towards real sets, because they looked more realistic than the CGI available at the time (like the cancelled 3DO game). 2. The game was short; I think there were only a handful of locations you could visit, suggesting that it was very low-budget. If I remember correctly, you could visit all the locations in about ten to fifteen minutes. 3. I made a mistake in that the password you give is NOT Portugreek, but in Smoker code. I remember now that at the end, the Smoker guard at the outpost called out something like, "Give me the password! And I want it in Smoker code, not in English!' in a cliched 'Yo ho ho' pirate voice. 4. It might have been sort of a mixed-reality game, in that it required some sort of decoder device you got in real life (like a prize you get in breakfast cereal boxes) that you would use to translate the clues you found into Smoker code to proceed. However, no matter what you entered, the game either crashed or just stopped responding. I don't know if this was due to technical issues or the game being shut down when I played it. I've done some more searching online, but have found absolutely nothing about it. I would swear in a court of law that this game did exist, but it seems to have been completely forgotten. Now, if the game did utilize live-action sets, perhaps Michael Conti (the director of the Quest For Dry Land live action cutscenes) might know about it, as it would make financial sense to shoot footage for both games at the same time instead of building separate sets. Luckily, he does have a youtube profile complete with a business e-mail contact form, so it might be worth looking into asking him if he has any memories of this game. Failing that, maybe a short video asking if anyone else remembers it might help, too.

I really hope the TV series comes out and isn't butchered. How big of a slap in the face it would be if it sucked. More studios need to pay attention to these dedicated fan pages for inspirations and ideas, give them what the crowd wants! I wonder if Kevin is behind any part of the production?

I had a feeling you would enjoy it. The movie got me thinking that maybe we can look at The Colony as what the early stages of Waterworld might have looked like. And curious that I never considered before that while Waterworld was taking place that not only an underwater world (like in the comic you described to us) could be in existence but maybe also an outer space world.
Did I miss it somewhere, have you done a deep dive the trimaran? While I know it was just a movie prop but I was always fascinated by how it transformed and wondered if a real life trimaran could be rigged that way.

Haha, while WW has no official canon, the stunt show is considered a follow up to the movie with Helen and the Mariner returning to the Atoll to spread the word about the discovery of Dryland. So, with that in mind, I suppose we are to believe the Deacon some how survived the Jet Ski accident at the end of the film!
