Very beautiful. I would like to see that template/gig you used to router the angles on the staves, do you have a video showing this tool up close? Thank you for a truly wonderful video.
Am i right in thinking that his router bit in the table is set at the angle which both cuts out the stave template and bevels at the right angle all at thr same time?
That's right. The cutter is set at the desired angle. With its help, I simultaneously give the workpiece the required shape and process the side edge of the barrel staves at the desired angle... Watch this video. It clearly shows these points: ua-cam.com/video/qeHGh-Y8tgo/v-deo.html

I know that hoopers used to heat the steel hoops before putting them on wagon wheels so they would tighten to the wheel as they cooled. I guess I always thought that was how it was done for barrels too. This was a great video. What is the taper angle of the staves?
Excuse me, I have a question, I heard that before oak wood is used to produce barrels, they put it in water for a while to remove the wood poison! Is such a thing true??
No, it’s not true... Oak blanks must dry in the open air for several years. Then they are used to make barrels. And only then do they fill the barrels with cold water for 7-14 days, periodically changing the water in the barrel to remove excess bitterness (tannins) from the oak...
