    Absolutely beautiful work, and I loved the coopering technique for making this mug. I also love the fact that it's wider at the base than the top. Most how to videos on making these mugs only show a straight walled mug, not a tapered one. The only thing I wish he would have done a little different was to rivet the brass straps to the handle instead of using bolts and nuts. It's still absolutely beautiful work though.

    Is that simply nontoxic cooking type of oil that you used or is that actually stain that you used on the inside of that mug?

    Where did you get this router bit?! I am having trouble finding a 12 deg (or 11.25 deg) router bit with the bearing on the bottom. This is the only way your template works.

      I use a straight cutter.
      I set a manual milling cutter, which is fixed to the table, at the right angle. Here is a video with subtitles on my Ukrainian channel about my homemade router table, which I use to process the side face of barrel staves: ua-cam.com/video/E5OmePuCYKM/v-deo.html

    How do you make your rings/hoops?

    • @tmzhenatanwoodworking7252
      @tmzhenatanwoodworking7252  2 роки тому +2

      To make the mug hoops, I first cut out 1.5mm strips of metal 10mm wide from a 1.5mm thick brass sheet. Then I make a circle out of them, measuring the desired length with a piece of soft copper wire ...

    Could be that it’s not showing up well on my iPhone but is that rift or quarter sawn oak? Looks rift sawn. I think it’s white oak (would make sense for that species anyway). Have you successfully made beer tight mugs from any other species of wood? How does that linseed oil/wax finish hold up to actual beer drinking?

    • @tmzhenatanwoodworking7252
      @tmzhenatanwoodworking7252  2 роки тому

      Yes. This is a mug made of oak, which is sawn into quarters and each element of the mug has a radial direction of the annual rings of wood... After applying oil wax to the mug, it is necessary to wipe it off, removing excess and dry it well...
