For the price you can buy a DRZ400 or KLX300 for a lot less. They are street legal dual sports that doesn’t get a dead battery in two hours. When you run out of fuel it literally takes 2 minutes to re-fuel, not many hours to re-charge. I’m not ready to trade in my Suzuki DRZ for electric…..
A great honest review, I believe you’re very accurate as a novice recreation motorcycle. The game changer Will be the perfection of the solid-state lithium batteries which we are probably about three years away from. Two hours is too short of a time for battery life during an Enduro. Thanks.
I charge mine with a generator , early morning ride and a arvo ride, works well. It feels light to ride, i had no trouble picking it up. I ditched tyres as the stocks are shit, i went a gummy hybrid and a fatty front. Power is good , not slow, just not a wr450. Torque is good :)
7:16 they didnt upgrade the batt, its still 25 cells in series but they are refering to the fresh off the charger voltage vs the actual under load volatge of the pack.
The newer higher voltage battery pack won't give you more distance. Voltage = speed. amps = acceleration and Amp Hours (Ah) = distance. So if an electric bike had enough speed and acceleration but not enough distance (ride time) then it needs a battery with more Amp Hours (Ah). But by default you do normally get more amps and Ah's when the voltage is increased (but not always).
@@botrock22 but with the higher battery voltage then the newer battery needs a new charger or the charger needs to be programmed to handle the higher voltage... so what's that going to cost?
Actually you're completely wrong. Your range is based on kilowatt hours of storage. The higher the voltage with the same amperage equals more kilowatts hours. You're technically correct about the speed but if you don't have to turn the throttle as far you're not burning as many amps also the bikes will be lower geared in the primary drive system to compensate for the motor spinning a higher RPM. So it's voltage times amperage equals kilowatts or kilowatt hours no matter how you achieve the kilowatt hours that equals ride time or distance. In my older zero I'm running a 48 volt pack but it's 60 amps. So if I had a 96 volt pack and a motor that could handle that high voltage I would go the same distance with a 30 ah
super cool bike. i just wanted to point out to people who may not know, you can have hand brakes for both front and rear as well as traction control on gas bikes too.
Done a heap of riding lately, couple of things ive noticed. Id love a foot break too, there were situations like being stopped on a hill i wanted to open a bag remove gloves , take helmet off etc, i simply couldn't and had to find a flat spot. I also have an issue where the throttle is slightly sticking on, will have to suss wiring or new throttle. Id like a cable throttle to high end potentiometer or something higher quality, then again those can jam too.
This excites me. I hate shifting whilst standing and I’m much more comfortable on technical stuff off-road on my mountain bike should be an easy no-brainer with the hand brakes.
All that added technology sounds interesting with the traction control and the regenerative braking... i wonder in a few more yrs if it will also have a Fully Self Driving feature that includes a Tomac going Beast mode ?!
In the video it looks like the bike was cutting off going through the endurocross section. Is that because the battery was out of charge? Thanks for the article!
The problem with the price tag is you're not far off from something from the big 5. Kinda hard to make a case for this when you could just get a kx250x
Looked like on the log section he was resetting the bike, the first log he used the reverse feature, then it looked like something happened on the 2 or 3rd log, hands went up and he was messing with the bike dash. The weight my gosh 43ish pounds over a 450. Cool idea but have a ways to go yet.
They have a street legal version already, they just opened to US markets, but I don't know if they are selling the off-road or street-legal or both models yet.

@@ianmangham4570 But don't you find that lithium batteries die faster when fully charged but then left to sit? Isn't this why normally a Tesla only charges up to 80%, and only recommends going to a full 100% charge if you are going to immediately drive more than a few miles.
@@suzuki06g It wouldn't surprise me 🙏 my battery sure does change depending on the temperature ,its a magical art electricity, next one I'm buying says its made from Tesla cells 21700s so I'm looking forward to that at around 55v 30amp to 60amp peak
lot of damn money for something thats realistically just a slow heavy 250. I know we have to start somewhere but this looks like a missed chance in the market.
Shouldn't you reporters explain the economic difference between products made by free enterprise, and products make by government subsidies? These electric bikes are getting better and better. They look like so much fun to shred!
Definitely improving that's forsure

Thanks for that! Nice reporting. Would make a fine bike for the ranch and range.
You bet!
Would never buy a Storm but very interested in seeing the specs on the Ultra Bee just announced.

Jesse, great review. I wonder how long it will take before they make a street-legal version.
Not entirely sure what compliance an electric vehicle needs🤷 But would definitely be cool

The handle bars upgraded yet one guy whiped out going slow bent his handle bars
Someone throw some KYB SSS on it!
YUP
Absolutely love this bike but its just to expensive. In Australia it's over $12 000 it's more expensive than a brand new DRZ 400.
Jeez that is steep
tax title license? are you serious. lol
really fun toy about CC off road bike
Who doesn't start with a FULL battery! Trippy
Ran out of time on race day. Bit of a bonehead move on our part

Electric dirtbikes need mechanical clutches if they are to be used for racing. I will stand by that.

Why would you try without a full battery? How slack is that!

Stop buying Chinese made, no bueno!
Stop buying products that are government subsidized. Not to worry. Not many will be able to afford them.
