At 6ft. The light Bee would be like a mountain bike with a non adjustable seat. The ultra seems like it will be a good fit. I have a DRZ, so don't really want something that big. Thanks for the lineup!
I had an electric bike I bought it for myself BECAUSE I LOST MY left leg and half my foot on right leg because I needed to get around I had it 2weeks and it got stolen on me I get so depressed Now I can afford to buy another one I loved my electric bike and I miss it now I can't get out and I watch yous all the time I love your bikes and maybe some day I might own one again
I have owned a TRX450 and rode a lot of quad bikes and BMX'ed a little as a kid. I moved into skateboarding and even built an E board but now im in my 30's and trick skating is just too hard on my back. My wallet is fat these days and even my 7 year old E board shocked me with the range and performance so I knew a nice ebike would be stellar. Soooooo my first motorcycle is gonna be an Ultra Bee!!! Im 6'2" 230 lbs So I know that light bee is just gonna be too small for me eventually. Should be here in a few weeks! Anyone got any tips?
I’m confused…. What about the surron x ? I guess I don’t know all the models ….. Are these older models / model names ? Is surron X newer than the three you profiled ? I’m looking to buy one …. have no clue which one to go with …..
Thanks for the review. I'm 6'4" & 230 lbs. I think I'm stuck with the Storm Bee as my model just due to size issues haha. I would mostly be using it for mountain trail riding in Utah as well. Agree or disagree?
I was thinking about getting a Storm Bee but i only intend to ride woods and slower more technical enduro. I can i magine the Ultra feels more like a big mtb rather than a moto which i would suit me better for play riding.
I'm 230lb and 5'10 ish and even the light bee x is super fun to ride but on straight aways I think I get up to like 65km/hr which would be nice to get more but I mostly trail ride and not many trails near me you can even go 60 lol
I've had heavy street bikes. Had alot of fun on stock surron once.. But I felt I needed one with 12kw. Now I'm in dubious if I don't just need a ultra bee. However I'm afraid it's heavier and loses the nimbly. But then again it's not even that fast. So then the storm comes in. But at that moment it's even heavier....
What kind of suspension would you recommend putting on the light bee x in order to hit the track/jumps? I'm interested in doing ohlins downhill forks and rear shock. Have also seen people do fox 40s, Manitou dorado, marzocchi bomber, fast ace, ext Ferro, or even 85cc mx front ends. Which would you recommend for the best weight and performance??
If weight isn’t a concern I’ll take the ultra but the lbx looks like a mountain bike which is a pro if u wanna go every and anywhere without attracting too much attention
Zero is faster and more range .. but cant do deep mud becouse of belt or jump becouse of frame .. stormbee is cheaper and cheaper parts and right of repair !!! Zero doesnt !!! .. but its a beast
Great video! Excited to see your full review on ultra bee! And also mods that come out for it Ultra. EBMX already has upgrade battery 82v 75ah and controller for the Ultra . Hope Chi makes a batter as well
@TheShreditor For sure, we sell th EBMX X9000 controller on our site as well. It'll be a bit longer before that is an option for purchase for the Ultra but looking forward to trying it. We've got some wheel options and suspension options coming soon as well too. Will be fun to try everything!
I still stand by it: the Sur Ron is the most fun bike I have ever ridden. I have a YZ250, WR250R with dirts and supermotos. Rode a FZ-07, Ninja 400, 636, Harley, Grom, Monkey, Buell, CRF450, TTR125, etc. It’s just a ridiculously fun bike. Quiet enough to do stupid stuff whenever wherever. Still fast enough to blend with traffic and commute. The Light Bee is so compact and fun. Fits inside a BMW 435i Gran Coupe. It’s light and nimble. Ultra Bee looks solid and it’s lighter than a YZ250. But the Storm Bee, 280lbs…. No thanks. The WR250 is a lot of work off road and it’s just too heavy for now I enjoy riding. Ultra Bee is a solid winner if you got the cash. OG Sur Ron is gonna be a classic.
Thanks for the info. I'm just concerned the Light Bee, or Ultra Bee is just not as sturdy enough for any faster passed jumping - like a YZ250 on a Vet MX track unless the rider is very light, about 150# or less. I don't know if the 19" wheels are an issue for riders comfortable with the 21/18s?
So I wanna get my first surron but idk if. Should get talaria sting mx3 or 4 I’m 31 years old I want something that I just ride places like work and stuff and ride everywhere with no problems
Thanks for the comparo! I’m torn between the Ultra and Super. I love the idea of the Light Bee, but afraid I’d soon want something more substantial. Why do you think Surron stayed with 19” front wheel on the Ultra Bee - doesn’t a 21” alway roll over obstacles better? Would a 21” swap on the front of an Ultra change the geometry too much and slow the steering?
@Bryan Dickerson For sure. It's my assumption that Surron stayed with a 19" because it's the most affordable option and allows them to keep the MSRP low. I'm testing a 21/18 on the Ultra this week and will post about it. I think it will correct the geometry issues that I'm experiencing. I think it currently sits slightly too high in the rear and low in the front and has some nervous tendencies in corners. Hoping the 21" will cure that.
Grey review, but I do have a question. It looks like they are sold as off road, in US and Canad. Can you title this, and drive as a daily? This was not answered, even though it was referenced as a style of bike “dual sport”, as a comparison. Just want to ride on road as well.
Yes, tried the light, too small. I'm 5'10" 165lbs. It seemed like a kids bike. The Storm, imo, is a pig, way too heavy! I bought a Electric Motion Escape and love it at 183lbs. Just ordered the Ultra 187lbs!! , very excited about spec, weight and size, seems perfect. I enjoy super techy rides. Bought a Beta 300 Xtrainer for riding in Moab this second with friends on ktm300s. Just got injured yesterday, sitting out now, sucks!!!! If I had EME there would be no injury. Beta is great, needed the range but EME will crush it when you hit the toughest rock climbs. Hoping the Ultra is a great techy trail bike too.
Thanks for another video on the Ultra Bee. Just have a question regarding the top heaviness of the ultra bee compared it's similar sized petrol counterparts like ktm 200exc,150exc, other and other 150cc type 4/2 strokes. How is the weight distributed compared to these bikes?
@Rirrid It's really hard to compare these bikes to ICE bikes in a lot of ways but I currently have a Husqvarna TC125 2 stroke and the Ultra Bee feels much lighter to me!
I hope in the full Ultra Bee reviewed Tucker touches on the traction control. I’ve just read that if you change the wheel size from 19 the traction control is not going to function properly anymore. I’m a fan of traction control on my dirt bike and it seems it would be a great addition to the Ultra Bee so this is an interesting topic I think.
@mattcgtx Thanks. I'll get into traction control in the full review and you heard correctly, swapping the wheel for a different size will not allow for the use of traction control. I imagine there will be a work around in the future.
Thanks for the reply! Hopefully a work around since I assume Storm Bee has TC with 18/21. For me just debating whether to go 18/21 or get a good set of 19” wheels to replace stock ones.
How long would it take to learn to ride that track in a similar manner as you? How long before someone could make those jumps? I rode dirt bikes when I was little, never on a track though just on the farm and stuff. I guess I’m curious how long it would take me to be able to ride like you are on this track, albeit not as quick or as proficiently as you, but to an acceptable level.
Great job on the video folks! Thanks for making it. I think I really just want to get a light bee. If for no other reason than just for the ability to use just about any hitch-mounted bike carrier to pop it on the back of my 4runner and take it out to the desert. Now if I had a trailer I would probably be all about the new Ultra Bee
@Hobbies4Hire Thanks! The Light Bee is great but you can easily put the Ultra Bee on a hitch mounted carrier! I wouldn't let that hold you back. While it may be heavy for a bicycle specific carrier, I've put bikes as heavy as a KLR650 on a hitch carrier. 👍
Very interested in an Ultra Bee for trail riding and if possible, supermoto track days with some 17” wheels. Will the battery/motor overheat on an asphalt/dirt supermoto track during a western USA summer track day? I can’t seem to find any info on anyone doing any SM kart track riding with these but that seems like it would be a ton of fun. I’d rather not have to deal with another gas bike and all the track prep that goes with it and have done some track days in NY on a Zero FXS that was a lot of fun. I got a few temperature warnings on the hotter summer days but never went into limp mode. Had a generator and pit power to keep it charged up between sessions which seemed to work fine. Interested to hear any thoughts or experience with an Ultra SM doing track days.
i'm 6'4" and like to send it so i really can't decide between the performance of the Ultra and the size of the Storm. literally stuck in the middle lol
Did they change up their naming scheme? I thought the Light Bee was a lower voltage version and the X was the more popular one. Confusing by Surron if that's the case.
Did you ever decide to do a motocross up fit to the storm bee? I ask because I ended up selling my Ultra Bee since it felt small for me. Being 61 200 pounds and chasing my son around now that he is riding the bigger tracks at Glen, Helen and Fox Raceway. I almost need a bigger bike. The days of 50 tracks and being able to easily keep up with him are coming to an end. I know the stark is available and mine should be here in January if I choose to pull the trigger, but the premium price has me wondering if I should just get some good race suspension under a storm bee
So what is the real world battery life of these? Both in regards to single use from fully charged to dead, as well as the amount of time the battery will actually last before it expires and no longer holds a charge. I’m gonna take a shot in the dark and guess 30 minutes and 8-10 months?
@ElectricCycleRider What mods can we expect to see come out for the Ultra Bee? Also, what would you want to mod on the Ultra Bee to get the best performance? ie: wheel size set, battery, controller, suspension I just ordered my Ultra Bee after building out my Light Bee, and I'm quite excited to get the Ultra Bee build kicked off
@Philip Pinto Great question! We're sorting out parts for the Ultra as we speak and will have options at ECR Parts [ parts.electriccyclerider.com/ ] when they're ready. In order of importance to me, I'm going to say 21/18 wheel combo, suspension mods/upgrade, and a controller. I don't think the bike needs a ton more power, so it may be possible to utilize the stock battery, but we'll see once we try a controller. It's putting out 12.5kW peak right now and I think 15-18kW would make it amazing. Trying out the 21/18 wheel combo this coming week and will report on that, with suspension and X9000 controller soon to follow! Should be fun. With those mods, I think the Ultra will be a pretty incredible bike.
@BigRed Good question. No, it does not feel like it has more power than my BAC8000 72v Light Bee. I do think it has adequate power for a stock bike and plenty of people will enjoy it in stock form but I think more experienced off road riders will want some more power or at least run a bigger sprocket for more torque.
Ultra Bee for me as I'm a larger rider. I own an LBX and its too small for my liking but I mostly bought it for my 15 year old. I'm not sure if I want to sell it and get a Talaria Mx4 (2 inches taller + more power) or sell it and get an Ultra Bee since my LBX only has about 200 miles on it and is less than a year old and pretty much mint. What mods would you do on the Ultra to improve it? It seems pretty solid from factory but curious as to your thoughts.
Wow... for once a great product video that convinces me the smallest one is probably enough for my wants as a van life 2nd vehicle hood crawler type thing.
Another gr8 review! With more videos like this, the easier it will be for riders to make a better choice. For me the LB is an electric mountain bike - and the others would be classed as electric motorcycles. For urban riders with no garage, you may need to be able to easily lift and carry the battery out the LB to charge up and charging even on AC household is about 3 hours. Taller riders would most likely naturally go for the other two bikes :)
It would be so challenging to judge jump speed without having a gearbox and/or RPM to listen to for speed checking jumps to consistently do them lap after lap
@JAS Great question and a pretty loaded one. I would still want to mod an Ultra, but it would require less upgrades than an Light Bee. Which bike is better depends on the environment. I've got my Light Bee's running pretty damn good right now and strongly feel like the Ultra needs a 21/18 and some suspension tuning. Hard to beat the ergonomics of the Ultra though. It's a tough one to answer but a modded Ultra will be an incredible bike for the type of riding that I'm doing.
Regardless how how much you build a lightbee, yes you can build it to be much faster then ultra, BUT you will never have good brakes in comparison, nor the seating ergonomics.
Can I ask - if you can share, is this a track that is open to everyone? If not, is it private property? Anyway if you can, could you say at least what state you reside in? I am guessing Colorado or California... not sure why. Perhaps you do say at some point the names and locations of the tracks that you are riding at, i am a new subscriber so I will keep looking... For the past few years i have almost worked double shifts every single week, no vacations for a couple years either... until work was kind enough to help me out with some vacation time and - gave me all the vacation time i want - yea, i got canned! And after working so hard, but i knew my job was at risk and if i would have worked less OT, i wouldn't of even ever had a chance to make it half as far... and yea, it might have been better to fail early a while back... but who wants to ever fail at anything? So for what it is worth I live in the Midwest and one of the tracks that I have ridden at countless times is Redbud in Buchannan Michigan... it is (or was) an amazing track... but WTF, they really fudged the heck out of the place putting up fences around the whole track (i would bet insurance said nerf the place or pay a lot more...), cutting off areas to spectate in that we have stood in for the past 20 years! They took out the jump that Redbud is famous for - the double double! Also known as the one jump at Redbud that I was NEVER going to have the courage to hit... and I know i could have made it! WTF? I do not know the reason for the changes, and they made a lot of changes all over - it follows a much different route through the property. But none of that matters because I had to sell my bike - a CRF450 in awesome condition, my health is not the most awesome, and i am getting old... I will be 60 soon enough. So when i see a video like this it really takes me back, and it makes me think - if you are ever going to ride again do it soon, before your bones turn to dust. And cherrish each ride, each day spent with friends at the track or if you are lucky enough with your kids at the track. So in that spirit, if you ever need an out of shape, older, fast as a pro in one section and then and dangerously slow in another... it baffles me, my friends, how I can be like this, but whatever! I loved to ride, loved the ride in the car with my friends just talking about all sorts of nonsense, pit racing, Taco Bell, the same location, every time for like a decade...
I have been riding Light Bee for a year. The problem is the small size. I think Ultra Bee has the best balance. However, it is quite expensive in Japan.
How long will one of these actually last? Like how long until I’d have to replace the battery and how expensive would that be? Seems like just as much as a gas dirt bike for a guaranteed shorter life span.
I'm not sure about longevity, but it's super fun to ride. Especially if you live in a more urban area. The quietness of it won't draw any attention and you can rip around just as you would on a dirt bike.
Hello John, this is the light bee x or s? Really good video, Great info prior to make my next purchase😊 I was looking at the Ultra but would like to do a bit of streets riding so I am now looking at the light bee x.... but having a KTM300XC I may find the light x too smooth . @@ElectricCycleRider You said that you have an idea to test making the Storm Bee more racy. Without spoiling what I assume is your future video, what mods are you considering? Is it only about suspension or is there more to it?
@@ElectricCycleRider Ohhh... =( That's too bad. But thanks for the answer.
Ordered a Yolin dual motor-battery, beach cruiser.
Just ordered a 2024..Surron lbx...play bike.
Got the honda crf230f.
Life's Good 🇦🇺
There we go, bought an Ultra Bee and going to pick it up Today! 🖖
Thanks for this video, it really helped me chose!
At 6ft. The light Bee would be like a mountain bike with a non adjustable seat. The ultra seems like it will be a good fit. I have a DRZ, so don't really want something that big. Thanks for the lineup!
You'll definitely feel better on the Ultra. And a set of taller bars will go a long way!
Hey, I'm also 6ft and and a DR-Z400 is my main bike. Thanks!
I believe that three models cater all body types, one for each. I prefer the Ultra.
AGREE go for it
as someone that's 5'5 would it be possible for me ride a ultra bee or is it to big
I was thinking about getting a Storm Bee but i only intend to ride woods and slower more technical enduro.
I can i magine the Ultra feels more like a big mtb rather than a moto which i would suit me better for play riding.
What’s a recommended weight and height to ride any of these bikes?
this is a great question
Excellent review of each bike!
If weight isn’t a concern I’ll take the ultra but the lbx looks like a mountain bike which is a pro if u wanna go every and anywhere without attracting too much attention
Would you recommend the Storm Bee or Zero FX for street use that occasionally sees dirt?
Zero is faster and more range .. but cant do deep mud becouse of belt or jump becouse of frame .. stormbee is cheaper and cheaper parts and right of repair !!! Zero doesnt !!! .. but its a beast
Great video! Excited to see your full review on ultra bee! And also mods that come out for it Ultra.
EBMX already has upgrade battery 82v 75ah and controller for the Ultra . Hope Chi makes a batter as well
I checked the EBMX website and don't see that upgrade. Is it an Australia only option?
@TheShreditor For sure, we sell th EBMX X9000 controller on our site as well. It'll be a bit longer before that is an option for purchase for the Ultra but looking forward to trying it. We've got some wheel options and suspension options coming soon as well too. Will be fun to try everything!
Nice and quiet, does anybody know if they come with a belt the lbx
@@ElectricCycleRider That’s cool to think that a 21” on the Ultra might actually be a win-win. I look forward to seeing how that works out!
I had an electric M and really didn’t like it. Surron for me as its so stealthy. Just my 2p’s worth 🙂
@@Ukmongoose3 really? Did like the EM? Which surron do you have/like?
ur 5,10 and the light is too small? crazy shit
@@lol-em6bj it just feels like a bmx bike and you feel every twig or stone. I just prefer something beefier.
Thanks for such an informative video. Deposit is in on the Ultra!👍👍
@Paul Danrich Solid choice! 👍
Ultra Bee will be my next bike. Are we getting a version with signals, etc? Definitely want to get it plated.
@Michael Evans The US version will not have turn signals but the bike will be set up for it.
Im seeing this a year later and I’m just getting to see this company. For a start what would be the best Surron to get?
Thanks for another video on the Ultra Bee. Just have a question regarding the top heaviness of the ultra bee compared it's similar sized petrol counterparts like ktm 200exc,150exc, other and other 150cc type 4/2 strokes. How is the weight distributed compared to these bikes?
@Rirrid It's really hard to compare these bikes to ICE bikes in a lot of ways but I currently have a Husqvarna TC125 2 stroke and the Ultra Bee feels much lighter to me!
@@ElectricCycleRider Thank man just what I wanted to hear.
The Ultra Bee looks about the same size/weight as a KTM 85 or YZ 85. I expect the Ultra Bee is also intended for the same-size rider.
I see snow does the battery die faster in the cold?
I want the power of the storm in the Ultra bee. That would be the perfect bike
Couple days bro just send it!
@@nickwaltman7586but dude I could break an ankle! Lol
Is a 72v upgraded light bee faster or much more powerful than the ultra bee? Or are they around the same power wise as I'm unsure wich to get
Great job on the video folks!
Check out MotoTote $$$ but would work great for UB
When you refer to not trusting it being stock. What mods are there ?
Where at in Colorado is this track
Is there any power upgrades for the ultra yet? Wish they would sell some easy app tune by a fee to get 15kw-18kw
Amazing review, and fantastic footage.
Looks like a fun one. Don't hit the track anymore but I'll bet it's fun on the trail!
These things look awesome for very specific use cases. For general, I'd still prefer an ICE or a mountain bike.
i'm 6'4" and like to send it so i really can't decide between the performance of the Ultra and the size of the Storm. literally stuck in the middle lol
is the “max load” essentially the weight limit for these bikes ?
Did they change up their naming scheme? I thought the Light Bee was a lower voltage version and the X was the more popular one. Confusing by Surron if that's the case.
Wher is this track at?
Any idea how it the ultra bee compares to the Nicot eFox? The eFox comes with a 4 speed gear box and a clutch
I’m 6’1 220 I don’t know which one to buy I’ve ridden some 125s and 250 which one would you recommend me?
Im really trying to find the purple one which sites have them.
I like the middle I watch a lot of videos on it and that is the best one
What's the range on storm bee on an Eco mode if there's one available.
Also, what would you want to mod on the Ultra Bee to get the best performance? ie: wheel size set, battery, controller, suspension
I just ordered my Ultra Bee after building out my Light Bee, and I'm quite excited to get the Ultra Bee build kicked off
@Philip Pinto Great question!
@@ElectricCycleRider Awesome! I’m excited to see your reviews on the mods, and can’t wait to get my hands on some as well! Cheers
@@ElectricCycleRider we are working on seat covers, triangles, linkages and headlight conversions as well 😎🤘🏼🤘🏼
Do you feel like the ultra bee has more power than a light bee with a bac8000 and 72v batt?
@BigRed Good question. No, it does not feel like it has more power than my BAC8000 72v Light Bee. I do think it has adequate power for a stock bike and plenty of people will enjoy it in stock form but I think more experienced off road riders will want some more power or at least run a bigger sprocket for more torque.
Could you apply a bac8000 to an ultra bee?
Any forks off existing bikes that would fit ultra?
Hi! The ultra bee have the same belt drive like the x? Or got something?
it will be be comfi for 180cm hight for enduro ride?
To modify and then compare again and your prefer/why buy this that bike! good thoughts!
Thanks for sharing your riding experience. Do all three have whiskey throttles?
Is this ram off-road park?
Can you compare the ultrabee to something like a yz125, kx112, husqvarna 150 etc?
can you do this video for Talarias as well, I appreciate it
Ultra Bee for me as I'm a larger rider.
I am 6'2, is the ultre bee too small for me?
Wow... for once a great product video that convinces me the smallest one is probably enough for my wants as a van life 2nd vehicle hood crawler type thing.
a Dealer says - Stom Bee has more issues than the Ultra Bee...in special with Motor...true?
Interesting. How much longer the new Storm BEE with 104V/55AH will be able to drive? If you compare it to the old one with a 90V/48AH battery? ?
Another gr8 review! With more videos like this, the easier it will be for riders to make a better choice. For me the LB is an electric mountain bike - and the others would be classed as electric motorcycles. For urban riders with no garage, you may need to be able to easily lift and carry the battery out the LB to charge up and charging even on AC household is about 3 hours. Taller riders would most likely naturally go for the other two bikes :)
I live in CO. What track is this?
It would be so challenging to judge jump speed without having a gearbox and/or RPM to listen to for speed checking jumps to consistently do them lap after lap
How would you compare a Ultra Bee to a fully modified/upgraded Light Bee?
@JAS Great question and a pretty loaded one. I would still want to mod an Ultra, but it would require less upgrades than an Light Bee. Which bike is better depends on the environment. I've got my Light Bee's running pretty damn good right now and strongly feel like the Ultra needs a 21/18 and some suspension tuning. Hard to beat the ergonomics of the Ultra though. It's a tough one to answer but a modded Ultra will be an incredible bike for the type of riding that I'm doing.
Regardless how how much you build a lightbee, yes you can build it to be much faster then ultra, BUT you will never have good brakes in comparison, nor the seating ergonomics.
i new to electric how much run time foe each
avg is ok
I'm also interested in version of Storm Bee which is more off-road focused that should outperform the smaller Ultra Bee in the MX track, for example.
What's the range that you get on different modes on Ultra Bee?
It’s more of a which one would you actually be able to get
Hey do you have one of these I can buy I live in Denver am 16 and just got a job would love to ride one of these instead of the bus
Can it be plated for street riding???
How tall are you and weight. The light and the ultra seem small.
I have been riding Light Bee for a year. The problem is the small size. I think Ultra Bee has the best balance. However, it is quite expensive in Japan.
What happens when you bury it in a river or worse yet fall into the water crossing it?
At 6'1" 270, I'm guessing the Storm Bee is my only choice?
How and where did you get Ultra in US?
Have you try the storm one?
I have the l1e the road version here in Australia i was gonna get light bee but I manly ride on streets.
Did you get a manufacturers certificate of origin with the ultra bee?
So I wanna get my first surron which one would you remember I’m 5’7 to 5’8 I want something I can ride to work and drive around and cruise places whic model will be best for me I’m 31 years old
Light bee and you can change battery
What mods would you do to the ultra?
I'm thinking of waiting for the new stark to come out, nervous about these bikes not being suited to my height and weight
Yeah smart thinking! These Sur Ron’s are OK, but their Chinese bikes at the end of the day. The stark is whole new level!
With 21/18 wheels the Ultra Looks Perfect, The wheels are expensive though
I would want to train like I ride a dirt bike. Ultra bee sounds good.
