The water tip is very valid. I always bring too much water just in case. It came in handy on my last hike. Some hikers were lost, out of water, red faced, laying on on ground, not looking good. I gladly gave up some of my water and cut my hike short. I don't know if they would have made it out of the woods if I hadn't found them. Scary...
Can't believe the Henry Survival Rifle AR-7 isn't on here. It's the ultimate backpack gun. Packs into its own stock, floats, 22LR, accurate. You can store 3 mags (24 rounds) in the stock.
im also a fan as well of the sub2000. I went ham on the red lion precision upgrades for the picatinny rail hand guards and whatnot. I love the gun even though the company makes some funny looking guns.
I live in California, Im thinking about getting a Kel-Tec rdb-c as my all-around CA legal gun. Kel-Tec has some options for us trapped behind the Granola-Curtain. Wish more companies would... But i wish alot of silly things haha
My PC Charger with SD folding brace along with the Gemtech Lunar 9 attached folds and takesdown into an incredibly small package! The Romeo red dot hasn't yet snagged on anything. The only gun that would be better would be a PC Charger in .45!
Should have a 22lr for a back pack gun. They can be used in a pinch for self defense and are great at taking small game and even large game in a survival emergency. Ruger 10/22 take down and charger would be good as would the henry ar7
A good DIY add-on for something with snaggy sights is a sheet of semi-rigid plastic (I used a cut up lid from a cheap tote) hit with a heat gun and bent into a U shape a little shorter than the bag. I have a romeo5 on a 6" blackout build for my pack and it slides right out, and so far the plastic has stayed in place. Of course if you want to secure it for real, there's always velcro, tape, glue, zipties, old chewing gum, etc. that can do the job. $5 fix.
I liked my Zastavaza ZPAP92 ALPHA pistol that I purchased after watching your killer review and then I popped a Franklin Armory Binary on it with an EOTCH and she throws freedom seeds no problem and fits in my bag good to go. Thanks for sharing and as always keep Pew pewing 🔫
To me "simpler is better!", not necessarily the "Best of breed!". What do I mean by that? By that, I mean sometimes we don't actually need "The Best!", even if there is such a thing. Now for the purpose stated in the video above, I don't like the whole fold-up-fold-down thing - it takes time and can get you killed. So, I would want my bag gun in fire-now condition. It must be short, very few snag points, but a reasonable barrel length, and a large magazine (say 50 rounds). It should be light, accurate, with selective fire. Of course I'm talking about the purpose-designed PDW - The FN P90. This weapon ticks all those boxes above, and then some! To go with the P90 in the bag I'm going for its little brother, the FN Five seveN (the one the US Secret Service agents carry!) It's a very ergonomic gun, very low recoil, big 20 round mag, and easy to shoot even for small-limbed individuals. It is highly effective (ref Fort Hood shootings), and here's the kicker, it shoots the same ammo as the P90 (5,7mm)! This pair has nothing overly fancy, the Manufacturer is probably one of the most reputable in the world, and if treated as intended will last a lifetime. I'd like to know what people think. [ BTW, if I was allowed to carry a long gun over my shoulder, of course it would be the SOCOM Spec Ops choice - The FN Scar 17! (7,62mm) ]
Seriously? You mention Keltec but choose the 2000 instead of the SU16? As if you needed a SECOND ugly pistol carbine in the line up. Not to mention a pistol is not a backpack gun. This is a lazy top 5 at best
i dont think any of these are ideal backpacking guns. if you want a long rifle, then just hike in a long rifle that is worth its weight. if not, then just stick with a larger caliber firearm like a .44 magnum or glock 40, they'll provide just the right amount of stopping power for anything threat you might run into and are going to be less bulky and lighter weight. id maybe even throw a mossberg shockwave into the mix.
I disagree. I use the sub2000 and it paired with a glock 19 is a great option. Not only are the mags interchangeable but also if you need more control and accuracy over longer distances you can switch to the sub2000. You can reliably hit a target at 150 yards with it. I’ve even seen someone hit out to 400 with ease. The sub2000 fits great into a backpack and is super light as well.

The Keltec SUB 2000 is also pre threaded, for those of us who care . . .

@@jasonfields7058 they sure do lol. I've heard the Sub 2K's performance is very similar to the Beretta Cx4 Storm, just much uglier 😂

M1a1 carbine with its folding stock is the perfect woods gun
I've had a Zastava M92 in a gen 1 vertex plus for 3 years now; it's like they were made for each other.
I should've bought the Ruger 1022 in the two piece stainless version. I didn't know if I'd like it so I bought the basic. Turns out I like it a lot
Would you prefer the Ruger 9 that uses the 1022 frame and 9mm jhp?
That Kel-Tec Sub-2000 riffle stuck a cord with me and I might be making a Go-Bag with it folded up inside!
Greg Smith mine fits in my computer case. Those 32 round stick mags fit in there nicely too.
Bruh if only not every single version was sold out as soon as they go on sale 😭
@@tillerphil4769 Dude, this was 5 months ago before the hammer fell. Sad state these days for ammo and affordable weapons availability for sure.

Great video & info. Another video about top pistol or caliber backpacks would be awesome.
I see Clint trades in the beard for a double chin...
Ouch bro, cold.
I felt that super hard. I get a quadruple chin whenever I shave. Looking good tho, Clint. I didn't know you were in your early 20's. Haha
Swamp Donk3y I got to say Clint is one of the few people I’ve seen that actually looks older without a beard😂😂😂
Some would say that is a bad trade for a man, but a decent trade for a woman.
I love guns, but I only may be saying that cuz I’m sitting here playing with my Canik TP9SF Elite I just got today 😀
Ruger 10/22 takedown with the Magpul backpacker stock for storage options
Same. Also have a Glock 17 in the bag.
Surprised you didnt choose a vector. Mine fits in a bookbag lol
Aren't you supposed to fit books in those things? Or is this a different part of America
Savage model 24 could also be in the mix. Easy takedown 410/22
