Year as Long as Life (1966)

Hello everyone - this film clip is from “Year as Long as Life” (in Russian: Год как жизнь). It is a 1966 Soviet drama film directed by Grigori Roshal. The Marxist theories of socialism, communism, class struggle, ideology and political economy influenced early Soviet-era filmmakers. The film takes place in Europe in the 19th century and shows the popular uprisings that took place there, as well as the search for truth and the confrontation of Karl Marx and opponents of the revolution. Dmitri Shostakovich wrote the music and Bel Air Music’s recording of the “Overture" is here replacing the original sound-track.

Hello - regrettably the complete movie is not available with English subtitles. The only possibility is to download a Russian version from a Russian website. "Year as Long as Life (1966)" is a 2 part movie (1 hour 30 min. and 1 hour 15 min.

Hello Gabriel - regrettably I don't think you can find the complete movie with English subtitles. The only possibility is to download a Russian version from a Russian website. "Year as Long as Life (1966)" is a 2 part movie (1 hour 30 min. and 1 hour 15 min.) that I bought a copy of in Moscow in the original Russian version from which I did the short clip and got a Russian friend to help with making the subtitles. OJ

@@belairfilmmusicoj4010 Thank you for your answer! I have already downloaded this movie a few years ago, but BS player never finds subtitles. It would be really great if it had English subtitles, wouldn't it? I think all western people should have the right to watch another movie about Karl Marx in which we never could watch. Including the fact of the value of it as a historical document. Anyway, if I'd know Russian, I would surely do this subtitle and help people in the whole west... 👀
