Since the devs apparently nerfed the relog respawn method, another way you can do it is to get back on your ship, go to super cruise, and then immediately drop from supercruise. Going to supercruise resets the instance and respawns the loot. you can also force these particular sites to spawn by accepting a "salvage memory chip from impact site" mission. As long as you don't grab the memory chip itself, the impact site will remain persistent and you can keep looting it. If you do grab the mission item though, the crash site will disappear when you go to supercruise.
apparently using the supercruise thing doesnt work anymore. i tried it and it didnt work :/ tho i used it on a random site and no mission site so maybe thats the problem
It's been frustrating when you can't find what you need. when doing missions at different bases. Manufacturing instruction has been one of the headed to find. So this video really helps. The only thing here is that I finding that I have to log right out to the desktop, as it the only way to reset the location.

It was a 3 rated site if I remember correctly and was getting up to three manufacturing instructions every two or three relogs! Maybe you could pin this? Kind regards Tiri See ya all out there!!

Really? I'm 1k ly from the bubble and I get them. They are way too common imho, or atleast, shouldnt be out here. They only show up on landable bodies (obviously) and seem to be more common on planets that have an atmosphere with life (bacteria/plants) and they show up as signals, similar to how geosites used to show as in horizons.
Aww dude that sucks. First planet I scanned out of the station gary terminal in Deciat had one. Problem is now I need to get weapon schematics and all the other materials.
Just a heads up, FDEV must have changed something because the data ports are no longer labeled as HAB data ports, just normal data port. BUT, same for the small satellite. And I've been getting all of the data I need from a small satellite (the first one shown in the video) that I'm farming as I write this comment; NOC data, Manufacturing Instructions, Surveillance Logs, all the good stuff.
You can stop with SRV right infront of satellite. SRV's contact list show which type materials are you going to loot. This method saves lots of time until you find working Power regulator. Log in and log out check contact panel to working or degraded power regulator.
It might be quicker to just click on Manage Inventory and upload all items in each category to the SRV than to board the SRV and have extra wait time. Exit from game and restarting no longer makes anything respawn as well other than the enemies.
Awesome video! Didn't know that about power regs blue light. Don't the discharged regs sale for 15k a piece though? I won't be logging off and on myself but I will be scanning multiple planets and cruising around to get manu instructions thanks for the prob idea!
My strategy has been to initially disembark with the dominantor suit with the plasma sniper and rocket launcher to tank with its shields and use 2 primaries to quickly kill npc’s then switch to my maverick to salvage afterwards. It prevents me from dying and having to taxi back to the planet
It took me ages to figure out how to find these myself. Carbon fibre plating and stuff are also difficult to find a lot of. Guides on how to find all these will save a lot of people getting frustrated like I did.
Don't know if it's a bug or not but qhen I log out and log back in on planet like ground wars my ship is gone but the items are refreshed. Is this a bug or meant to do that and does it do it on every planet?

I’m struggling to understand what missions to do on foot. I look at the mission board and it’s confusing what actually is a ground mission. Then when I talk to NPCs in stations they all seem to be illegal missions. I’ve done the battles but they don’t award materials to upgrade your suits just credits.
any mission you take at the concourse is a foot mission. Missions from the terminal will typically be legal. And those that aren't will explicitly say somewhere near the top that they're illegal in the mission system or at home. Some legal missions will require you to have a e-hack or whatever they're called. They're illegal to have on you while on foot. But you can buy them legally at any communist run station. I'd stock up in those cases. Also don't worry about being scanned with the hacking tools stored on your ship. You won't get in trouble unless they're in your backpack.
Was this method completely nerfed? I was only able to loot the impact site once and I didn’t get any manufactured instructions the first time, after relog there are no materials at all I even tried leaving orbit and coming back down, still nothing, the materials don’t respawn and everything that you don’t collect the very first time you show up to it will disappear and be gone forever if I relog
is there a trick to getting your game to reload so quickly or is it just a matter of top end hardware? the log out log in thing seems to take me 4 times longer. my pc is little older and seems to run ed just fine but that load in screen is way slower for me.
They(as the other weapons) appear to be kinda random. If you can't find at all you could either go to Jameson memorial or I Sola prospect as both of those stations sell everything there is in the game basically
Your best bet would probably be to find an abandoned settlement, preferably maybe an industrial one, and then just check all of the locked containers there as they have a chance to spawn things like suit and weapon schematics, Ionised gas, and all of those things you'll need for upgrades without having to worry about getting spotted by staff. I'm not sure if the same strategy used here, the logging out and logging back in, will work but I have a feeling it would and if that's the case, it'd most likely be the best method. And also, a good way of finding an abandoned settlement would be to just search for restore/reactivation missions in stations and then go to whatever station the mission wants you to go to. Even without accepting the mission, I think it will still be abandoned but if it isn't, you could probably just accept it and then discard it, though that carries a hefty fine.
I stop playing ED because of the f-ing bad grind. I'm back from work to have fun enjoy but this game feels like my second job. Delete ED and playing other games solve this problem.
I don't think these give the downloads or power things anymore. I've been to five different ones now, and they've just been empty. After a nineth one, I finally found data in one, but not Manufacturing Instructions, and you can't reset it by relogging or hitting supercruise and returning. So this method is ultimately slower than just raiding a settlement over and over, or mission rewards now.
To Anyone commenting that this has been nerfed; It hasn't. I can confirm that repeatedly loading the same site nets a chance at Manufacturing Instructions. Its a bit RNG based but it is still by far the most effective method. Site's change periodically but any planets you've scanned will stay that way and identify where those new locations of Impact Sites are meaning you only have to scan a particular planet once.
If you are standing on the satellite when you quit to reset and get stuck, just hit the spacebar to jump the next time you start BEFORE the satellite spawns. That's what I did to get out.
First of all how do you use your own ship? I've been using the taxi service for a while now. Can't find a tutorial to progress to a ship anywhere in Odyssey
Once you have a little money if you're on foot I believe you would be looking for the inter astra shop in a station. There you should be able to purchase a 'sidewinder', the beginner ship. If you already have one you would use the same shop and go into 'manage ships' and be able to have your ship delivered to your location or moved into the garage so you can get into it. Once it's there or you've bought a ship you should be able to use the non-mercenary, non-apex elevators to go to your own ship in the docking area.
If you are lucky you can find Systems with Lv3 suits to buy. one was 11 million yesterday, the Lv1 ones are far more common. Thx for this Video, ive seen impact sides and downloaded stuff and also missions, where you have to re-power a settlement has this data hubs. But really, i can´t say if these stuff i download are something i need to upgrade 😂
Thank you for the guide on farming these. Although now I'm having to exit the game completely to get the instance to reset itself. Not sure if its me or they changed something
@DowntoEarthAstronomy I hope you pin this. This method STILL works, but has changed. You now have to log off to DESKTOP not mane menu. If you log off to main menu there will be no assets to loot of any kind, but the satellite will still be there. I ran into a skimmer, but it was harmless, and didn't seem to care about downloading and cutting panels.
It's really too bad that they have patched this already. I went down on a mission and found the exact same one, I had tried downloading the data and took the panel parts, but forgot to actually press download lol so I log out, and back in and it's still there, so I did it again, this time downloading it cause I saw none of the spots were taken up, took panel stuff again, re-log....... and Nothing there.
Anyone else having trouble getting passengers from passenger lounge in Odyssey? Can't find any, in Horizons there hundreds wishing to go but nothing in Odyssey. Am I doing it wrong?
Don’t need to relog loop for anything in the game. It’s just much faster to get everything you need for upgrades that way so everyone is going to do it.
Yeah, same thoughts here, just breaking immersion. They could at least add chance for multiple drops for ppl that actually play the game instead of rushing it.
I keep having an issue when dong jobs where im given a key code to pick something up i think a bug messes up the key code because this is what i get for the keycode. $##keycode
i just found one that he said not to go to and pulled 6 manufacturing instructions 100% of the time. only problem was 2nd try i got 1 guy who spawned. 7th time i got 6 guys who spawned and destroyed my srv before i could get away.
@@siRrk1337 you have a valid point, let me explain what i really think i think it's reminescent of bad game design that in elite specifically, the best way to grind materials is not through the fun way, but rather through the most boring and cheesiest way it's the case for credits, for materials, for the engineer unlock grind, and really for just about everything you have to unlock in this game without the disconnect/relog mechanic and if, let's say, guardian site could only be activated once every x hours, could you imagine how massive the grind would be? it baffles me that despite the game being released *6 years ago*, they still haven't adressed that just nerf the relog mechanic, and either give players more rewards for doing it the fun way, or lower the material (and maybe the credit) requirements, simple as that
And FDev must have watched this as they have nerfed these sites. You can go to it once. Then it saves the instance. You log out and back in again to a blank download panel and looted internals. In fact, they so thoroughly nerfed it that if you find another similar on a completely different planet in the system that one has been looted already.
Thank you, I was seriously fearing that nobody else was experiencing this too, given how so little people seem to have noticed or to be talking about it. Guess that most people who would rightfully complain about it just stopped playing Odissey altogether, or are at least avoiding foot engineering, and most of all of those left to notice are Frontier bootlickers and simps. Or maybe we are both experiencing some kind of (rare?) bug, especially considering that also other POI loots are wiped, but I kinda fear that's not the case.
@@FunnyStripes you're so right about the sycophants that would say "but you gotta play for a loooong time" and agree that farming 1000s of items is interesting game play. I'm still sort of plugging away at it but it might be time for another long hiatus. Pretty sure it's not a bug. And mentioning it on Frontier forums just gets trolled by the lifeless wonders with unlimited time to play.
@@Wlfric I may have figured out what's going on after a brief investigation. As it turns out, you still COULD do it, but there's two problems. First, you need to log out completely, and then get back into the game (exactly like you usually grind high grade emissions, slow and annoying). However, there's an issue. For some reason, when you try to log in when near a surface POI, the game has very, very often problems at logging you in, first giving you an Orange Sidewinder, then if you are lucky a Mauve Adder, and then, if you are still lucky, you are logged in. When you experience the first Orange error, the game does manage to spawn the mats, but you can't access them since you don't get connected. And then, when you finally get connected, the materials have been despawned already, since either doing what the game considers "logging off to the menu" (which is what the game thinks is happening here) or go into supercruise, everything in the POIs of the system gets despawned and stops spawning until you either go to another system, or log off completely. So TL;DR: it may actually be yet another bug that you can't farm any more, but they did nerf the farming by forcing you to log off of the game completely.
@@Wlfric Also forgot to mention it, but yeah, anything under direct or indirect control of Frontier experiences full China-style censorship, happily aided by the few, always present rabid, obsessed fanboys willing to literally defend with their sad lives their beloved game and company. So don't even bother expressing any complaints on the Forums, the Reddit, or heck, even on the chat of Frontier livestreams, they'll just ban or silence you, while the toxic fanboys will be assaulting, discrediting and insulting you.
I can forgive bugs and performance problems in a new expansion, but I shouldn't have to log out and log in endlessly to get supplies. I would rather the sources for materials be rarer, but have them drop lots more materials.
Honestly, if it wasn't for relogging, impact sites would actually be pretty unreliable and most people would have to actually raid industrial settlements instead of menu-hopping for hours on end... And you know what, raiding settlements can be tons of fun, but SO MANY MATERIALS are necessary to progress through the upgrades that there really isn't much of an alternative to relogging unless you never want highly-engineered equipment.
Thanks Astro. Question: Is it right people are finding suits and weapons to buy pre-Upgraded? IE: G2 and G3 suits and weapons? I can't find any of these in the countless stations i have visited since launch, so am guessing the forum is lying?
I found a g2 grenade launcher (with a noise suppressor in the first engineering slot for whatever reason) and a g2 kinetic pistol ( no free engineering there) but those were only only ones I've seen so far
It is very RNG. So you need to keep looking everywhere you go. Plus the stock at the store is the same for everyone, meaning if someone find the G2/G3 and buy it before you, you wont see it!
So far I've found a G3 Artremis suit with extended battery, G3 kinetic pistol, G3 kinetic SMG with a scope attachment, G2 Maverick suit, G2 laser rifle, G3 rocket launcher with a suppressor(!) and a G2 plasma pistol. All from high tech stations that are of the beaten track. My goal is to find a Maverick suit with a night vision mod.
Both the logging to main menu AND the jumping to supercruise resets have been nerfed now. Thanks Frontier, you sure know how to make a game that extra bit grindy 🙄
Hey I just confirmed, it still works if you logout to desktop. And I am in the Colonia region where the pickin's are slim. Just move quick and be ready for action because reinforcements drop in real fast. Maybe kill all but one and hold 'em off until you are done. o7
I've had Odyssey since the Alpha and I'm still struggling to sort out my controller. Any chance you could do a video on how to set up your controls? At the moment I'm using a HOTAS for ship control and a games controller for walking around.

Yeah, same thoughts here, just breaking immersion. They could at least add chance for multiple drops for ppl that actually play the game instead of rushing it.
Do a video for weapon and suit schemantics farming
Has Odyssey been working for everyone.after finally being able to get on since launch date, now getting taupe cobra error. :(
I got the purple cobra, and all my stacked missions disappeared
I keep having an issue when dong jobs where im given a key code to pick something up i think a bug messes up the key code because this is what i get for the keycode. $##keycode
what does Manufacturer Instructions ?
It's for suit and weapon upgrades
i just found one that he said not to go to and pulled 6 manufacturing instructions 100% of the time. only problem was 2nd try i got 1 guy who spawned. 7th time i got 6 guys who spawned and destroyed my srv before i could get away.
quality gameplay yes
does this look to you as intended game mechanics? i dont think its fair to exploit a bug and then claim bad gameplay
@@siRrk1337 you have a valid point, let me explain what i really think
i think it's reminescent of bad game design that in elite specifically, the best way to grind materials is not through the fun way, but rather through the most boring and cheesiest way
it's the case for credits, for materials, for the engineer unlock grind, and really for just about everything you have to unlock in this game
without the disconnect/relog mechanic and if, let's say, guardian site could only be activated once every x hours, could you imagine how massive the grind would be? it baffles me that despite the game being released *6 years ago*, they still haven't adressed that
just nerf the relog mechanic, and either give players more rewards for doing it the fun way, or lower the material (and maybe the credit) requirements, simple as that
And FDev must have watched this as they have nerfed these sites.
Bro, how the F do people get their cameras to move that fast? My external camera takes AGES to even move past the ship.
+ and - buttons increase and decrease camera speed (unless you changed the defaults). The buttons left of backspace, not from numpad.
@@beculettz 'preciate that. A million bindings make it impossible to find what I need. o7
I wish I new this I just finished going Rambo on a anarchy facility. Killed so many.
Looks like this has been nerfed. boardswap or supercruise and back keeps the state of the probe now in update 6. NPC's can respawn too.
Thanks Astro. Question: Is it right people are finding suits and weapons to buy pre-Upgraded? IE: G2 and G3 suits and weapons? I can't find any of these in the countless stations i have visited since launch, so am guessing the forum is lying?
I found a g2 grenade launcher (with a noise suppressor in the first engineering slot for whatever reason) and a g2 kinetic pistol ( no free engineering there) but those were only only ones I've seen so far
...nope, I found a couple of G2 weapons. Just make sure you check every port you land on.
You should include #cheese in this video's description :)
They already nerfed it. I went to the same planet, same site, no luck.
I don't think that's a nerf just represents taht they're not permanent
Both the logging to main menu AND the jumping to supercruise resets have been nerfed now. Thanks Frontier, you sure know how to make a game that extra bit grindy 🙄
Hey I just confirmed, it still works if you logout to desktop. And I am in the Colonia region where the pickin's are slim. Just move quick and be ready for action because reinforcements drop in real fast. Maybe kill all but one and hold 'em off until you are done. o7
This only worked for me after I exited the game and then logged back in again, not just to the main menu.
I've had Odyssey since the Alpha and I'm still struggling to sort out my controller. Any chance you could do a video on how to set up your controls? At the moment I'm using a HOTAS for ship control and a games controller for walking around.
