I was camping up north, and met a lady who had made this to sell. I got some wrapped up in a leaf to go, and had the tamarind right off the tree. It was delicious, and the spice was perfect for hiking in the January weather. Thanks for the recipe, I'll have to try it for nostalgia.
Hi: A new fan here, actually got here by accident and sure glad I did! Done a lot of thing in my life but cooking was never one of them! I am probably the WORST cook ever but will now learn from your video. Will try this out as my first dish, thank you so much!
Pai, I almost forgot to tell you about the meatballs I made last saturday. You said I could bake them too. So I did and I followed exactly the same way like you did on Video Published on 20 Mar 2015. They turned out very good and juicy even baked. I am sure the little fat made them juicy.
Hi big fan! Can you do a post on all the different types of salads - There's the yum type, but there's also Isaan type that are more spicy and use the toasted rice powder. Others? I love Thai salads and would love a better education in your signature informative, thorough break-down style.
+pailinskitchen Hii! I'm from Puerto Rico and I just wanted to say that I love your channel and that Its really nice to see that we actually have some ingredients in common from our kitchen! like here in puerto rico we use a lot of corriander leaves we actually call them "recao" and the pork rings we call it "chicharron" :)
You are the best Thai Chef I have ever seen. Your Salad is the bomb. Thanks for sharing your Thai Noodle Salad dish. Your so Nice thanks a million love your smile.
Looks so good! Is there an alternative using the noodle? I'm diabetic and I'm trying to cut off carbs from diet, can you give me suggestions? Someone else on UA-cam claimed the mung bean was low in carbs but come to find out that it is higher than rice vermicelli or ramen noodles.
For a fresh veggie option, try shredded zucchini, bean sprouts, or spaghetti squash. You might be able to find shirataki noodles at your local grocery store. They are made from konjaku and are low in net carbs. Some brands are Miracle Noodle, Pasta Zero, or House Foods Shirataki.
Hi, maybe a bit silly to ask but I found that our Asian Cilantro looks like Pasley, can you tell me different? I only used to cilantro as a herb in here
+Bigfoot You are the definition of "stupid" as well as "idiot." They should put your face by both of those in the dictionary as well as many other words which I have no time or desire to go into as I have a life, unlike you.
That dried shrimp is meant to be boiled to bring it back to life but it's okay, you can use it this way as well, whatever you prefer and like, but I think she used this because she could afford or didn't want to buy fresh shrimp lol which is ok! But, I say if you can get even the frozen shrimp and thaw them out and add them it would be so much better than the dried version. :/
Dear Krave Zomby. You got it wrong ms. Dried shrimp is not a substitute for fresh shrimp. Not at all. It's quite common ingredient among many Asian cuisine, not just Thai. For some dishes they even use dried shrimps with fresh one. Google for "dried shrimp" with quotes to learn more if you need.
Vegan dishes are quite rare in Thailand because the most important ingredient is Fish sauce. You might probably want to look for chinese vegan dishes. ;)
Remind me of one of the answer I've read regarding "What are Thai people opinions on veganism?" Here's the answer from a Thai. "...To answer: Nothing. What they do is good. We appreciate that. However there are many whom…we could not understand what’s on their mind. They would try - directly or indirectly - to force people to do the same. It seems like they use their preference to label others who don’t do that thing as they do as unhealthy, dirty, sinners, barbarians, savages, etc. If you do good things because you want to, that’s great. But if you do that so you can feel superior, or to feel good with yourself and categorize others who are not doing the same things you do, that’s another story. That’s not true good deed..."

What can I use as an alternative if I don't have any long beans?
Hi. Do you fry the dried shrimps in oil first or use as it is? Thank you.
I didn't this time but sometimes I do if I have time :)
did you boil the long beans or is it completely raw?thanks!
I was wondering the same thing. Do we parboil the veg?
+macgurrl raw
You do not cook the long bean....it's used raw.

Oh you dont know a thing. Dried shrimp is NOT a substitute for fresh or frozen shrimp. It has a totally different taste and texture.

TOO Heavily edited
I know.. I hate the background music and how the video seems a bit rush. To be honest, I prefer the old extended and less edited video.
Pleum I do too. The editing was jarring and made me wonder what I was missing. I've got the time to watch full videos and prefer them.

Make more vegan dishes!!!!! its 2015....people don't eat meat or fish anymore.
Why don't you use the recipe as a base template for creating your own vegan style dishes? Just experiment with replacing ingredients.
Vegan dishes are quite rare in Thailand because the most important ingredient is Fish sauce. You might probably want to look for chinese vegan dishes. ;)
