Your video is just what I was looking for so I can install the live scope on my pontoon. How far down pass the bottom of pontoon does your live scope goes?
So I built this exactly and it is going to work for sure. I’m stuck connecting the pole mount to the bottom of the deck I dont want to screw through the top of the deck.
The flag pole mount has 4 screw holes, so I just used shorter screws that do not come through the top of the deck and haven’t any issues with it coming loose.
I just found your video. It’s perfect for what I need. I have the exact same boat. Do you have a parts list and links of the pieces you used to make this awesome live scope mount? Appreciate your video.
Glad this was helpful, If you scroll through the comments I listed the part numbers for the ram mounts in some of my replies. And then I believe list the PVC components that I used in the video. Thanks!
If you’ll scroll through the comments, I listed the numbers in one of the replies previously. It won’t let me copy and paste it for you or I would. Thanks!
Great video and thanks. I am going to put one on my 90 year old father in laws pontoon boat. I think I will mount his by his motor in the back so it is safer from getting crushed. Thanks again.
Great idea and a very good description of what you did. One suggestion for future videos is to have your camera person hold the phone horizontally as opposed to vertically otherwise a great job.
Thanks, they actually make those PVC clamps, order online or pickup at Lowe’s. I imagine you could also cut a T open, but probably wouldn’t work quite as well.
Thanks for your video. This is a great idea I’m going to borrow. I adapted your design by splitting the 1” pvc and inserting the cable. I’m needing some insight on where you mounted the box. How well does it need to be protected from water Tony, Pittsburg Mo
I mounted the box inside the storage bin at the front of the boat, I’m assuming the box needs to be protected from water pretty well, I haven’t seen the specific specs for that but you know how well water and electronics work together haha.
@@gabecordova8025 couldn't you use an adjustable 1" flag pole mount and mount that to the rail of the pontoon? Then put a 1in piece of pipe in your flag pole mount to your 1 in × 1 1/4 T. That would cut about $60 off the price.
@@jasonstokley7274 you could probably make that work and save some money, from my experience though, the versatility and ease of use of the Ram mount is worth the money for this application.
super helpful!! thanks for taking the time to upload the video and answer questions! I just got my 18 DlX and trying to figure out my live scope set up. Is your Garmin force an eighty lb thrust? if so how does the 24 volt trolling motor handle in windy conditions? thanks!
I run it on 24volt at 80 lbs and it does great in the wind, you can add a 3rd battery and get 100lb thrust on 36 volt but I haven’t seen a need for that yet, been in some pretty strong wind and it holds up.
Thank you for the nice video. I have a 22' Sun Tracker ELP fishing barge that is in a slip. In order to measure this it has to be on dry land. Would you share your measurements? I'm not lazy, just a 73 years young disabled veteran looking for a little help.
@@gabecordova8025 My sun tracker is a 3 log boat. The logs are larger in diameter than a 2 log boat. I couldn't tell which you had. I really don't know if it is enough difference to worry about. I am more concerned about the 1 1/4" length to the flag pole fixture. I believe our decks are the same size from rail to brace.
Great video - HUGE help, just bought a SunTracker Fishing Pontoon myself and didn't want to mount my Livescope (About to order) to the trolling motor either for the same reason. What Garmin are you using with your Livescope? Can you possibly do a short video showing your entire setup and where you mounted the black box and Garmin. Thank you for your time!!! Robby Royal
I am using two of the Garmin 93sv UHD units. One at the console and the other is mounted to the lid of the storage compartment up front on the starboard side of the boat, there is a rod holder on that compartment, and I ran the wiring down through that rod holder and installed the network box inside of that compartment. My two Garmin units are linked together with a network cable so I can see the livescope on both screens at the same time. If you watch the video from 6:30 to the 7 minute mark, you can see where the front unit is mounted. I’ll try to get some pics or video of the setup when I get a chance. Glad this helped you out!
@@gabecordova8025 I GREATLY appreciate your response to me question above, I thought I had hit like way back then. I have finally saved up for my Livescope!!! Exactly How long is your 1" PVC Pipe?
@@gabecordova8025 Also, could you post or email me a short video of your Bow mounted 93SV. I have the same storage compartments you have. I appreciate your time and allowing folks to steal your ideas!!!!
@@gabecordova8025 On the double socket arm there is another ball that is going into the pvc. That didn't come with that double arm part did it? Do you have the part number for that? Thanks
I am assuming that you are talking about the part that connects the PVC to the ram mount coupler? If so, I bought a 1 1/2 inch ball with female slip pipe and just glued it into the PVC.
Hey appreciate you sharing this great idea! What's your opinion on where I should mount the new 93sv unit I just got? I have the same pontoon as you and I always fish from the bow. I was initially thinking of putting the unit at the console but it would be difficult to see from the bow even with a rotating mount. Thanks!
Is that going to be the only graph you have on the boat?? I definitely recommend mounting it at the bow, you need it to be right there where you’re fishing. If you don’t have another graph I recommend adding something cheap at the console so you can find structure while driving.
@@gabecordova8025 ok yes I’ll have another one already installed at the console. Any recommendations on where to mount it on the bow? Deck, maybe on the railing? I think it would interfere with the mooring cover possibly.
@@MackZero I’m not really sure if your pontoon is like mine or not, but I have 2 storage compartments, one in each corner at the front of the boat. I mounted mine on the lid on of one of those compartments, you can actually see it behind me in the video. This also allowed me to put the other components down inside that compartment which is nice. If you don’t have that compartment then I would recommend mounting on the deck and using a riser to get the unit up to the right height. It would definitely interfere with the mooring cover if you put it on the rail, so you would need to put it on a removable ram mount just like I did for the pole mount.
I used a flag pole holder and I screwed it directly to the plywood on the underside of the deck. Then I used a 90° fitting with a piece of pipe sticking out of each side of the 90. One piece of pipe to go up into the flag pole holder in another piece of pipe to connect the PVC T-clamp. Hope this helps!
Two things... first...I got the 1" ball on my ram claw setup as opposed to the 1.5"... will that make a difference... second... could you explain the PVC setup... what stops the T from sliding down the 1" PVC pipe...
The 1” ball shouldn’t matter as long as all the fittings fit together. On the PVC set up, The T does slide up and down the pipe, I epoxied a small piece of 1 1/4 pvc just below the T so it can’t slide very far in that direction, and then the elbow at the top of the pipe keeps it from sliding any further in that direction, hope this makes sense.
Thanks Gabe...I traded back and went with the 1.5 setup... yes, I now understand the PVC rig... the pole does extend down below the pontoons right... did you use any particular epoxy?
Wondering how the spot-lock worked on your pontoon. How long is your boat and what trolling motor are you using? I would like to put one on my 24' pontoon and want to buy the right one the first time. lol
This is my trolling motor on a 22' Sun Tracker ELP fishing barge, Minn Kota Ulterra i-Pilot GPS/US2 Bow-Mount Electric Trolling Motor - 60in Shaft 80lb Thrust. Spot lock can hold my boat in light wind. The 80 pounds of thrust moves it very well.
The long piece of pipe that goes down into the water is a 1 inch piece. There is just a short section of inch and a quarter that I have it ran through and then the T is 1.25 that reduces to 1” on the side that the ram mount attaches. So the 1.25 pvc pipe just buts up to the 1.25 T. I think you can see what I’m talking about at the 1:10 - 1:30 mark in the video. Hope that helps!
