Trooping the Colour was performed every year on the Queens Official Birthday. Because there was no guarantee of good weather on her real birthday, they moved it to the summer. From 1645 to the late 1800s they did go into battle wearing the red coat uniforms also with the marching band by side, must have been a terrifying site for anyone on the opposing side willing to fight
There are several commanders on the parade with one overall. A rifle is heavy on one shoulder all the time. When the sergeant major saluted the flag it was likely the only time he'd used the sword.
This is Horseguards Parade only the footguards regiments wear red tunics along with The Lifeguards who guard Horseguards Parade along with The Blues and Royals on horseback.

The equivalent of the Brigade of Guards in the Indian Army were the Bombay Grenadiers, after independence they became 'The Grenadiers Regiment' and stopped wearing their red coats which was their dress uniform while Britain was rather in charge.

I love the marching and the music in this. I don’t know why, but it reminds me a lot of the pride, you see and videos of Ohio State University, marching band, probably top in the country known for their halftime shows.
I bet these uniforms are very hot and heavy 😮
The can get hot and heavy, soldiers have fainted during really hot weather performing Trooping the Colour and when they faint it is protocol they faint at attention so face first.
The building is St James's Palace and the trooping of the colour is performed on horse guard.

Sorry Mave, your geography is out of wack. The buildings surrounding Horse Guards Parade are assorted government offices, including the Old Admiralty Offices and the Household Cavalry Museum. St James Palace is the other side of St James Park, several hundred yards away.
This is not St James Palace which is about half a mile away but the Horse Guards building, the traditional headquarters of the British Army. Hence the open space on which the trooping takes place is called Horse Guards Parade.

Its not Kensington palace.Those are old admiralty and army offices. During the Napoleonic wars those buildings were the main head quarters of the British army. The other royals usually observe the parade ground from the office that was assigned to the Duke of Wellington.
