The refinished dial looks really awesome. And the accuracy of the watch is superb, even though this watch must be at least 40 years old. That's why OLD IS GOLD. Thank you Stian for yet another engrossing video.

Very good job Stian!! As you said this dial was too far gone and I guess there were only two options for it; either throw it in the garbage bin or repaint it. The sale potential may be lowered or gone but the owner will probably enjoy wearing this watch. It's very pretty!
Mechanical watches will persevere in the future. It’s the elegance for one, and the regression of society for another. It’s exactly the same as crossing the Atlantic in a ship compared to a plane, and plowing a field with a horse and plow compared to a tractor. No battery needed, just proper maintenance. We marvel at the ocean liner, the horse and plow and the automatic watches. They’ll have their day again.
As much as I love mechanical watches & agree that society is regressing in some ways, I'm not sure the regressors appreciate a $1000+ mechanical with lube changes of $100+ required every few years over a $20 Casio that needs a $2 battery every couple of years.
Wonderful transformation. A drawer piece restored to a potential heirloom. The dial had to be refinished, it was shedding debris. Btw, it's not too early to get ready for the 2028 Olympics breakdancing competition, Stian.
Wonderful as usual. I really look forward to your videos as it is getting back into the hobby. I lost my 16 month old grandson in May who lives with me and frankly this is really the only thing that piques my interest these days. Thanks again and congratulations on another upper level job.
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that, Dave. No parent or grand parent should ever outlive their children 😢 I hope you're able to spend good time with your family
Hi Stian. Its always a good day when you clap eyes on an olde Omega copper colored movement.Timeless beauty as well as a level of quality others are still striving for. Those were the dayz.... The more I watch you and Joe, the more I have come to appreciate that I chose the wrong path in life. I should have been a watch maker. Furtwangen was mega this year BTW. Best wishes from the Forest of Blackness. Mike
Beautiful work! Are you open to sharing who your redialer is? How much does a job such as this cost roughly? I ask because I have a De Ville from same era that needs the dial redone as well. Thanks.
Re frozen pizza, I can get better results in a frypan than the oven. What you can do Stian is put a cake stand in frypan with a lid. What I did to get a frypan with a high lid, was I took the lid from my largest pot to the kitchen supply shop and found a frypan that fit the lid. Frypan lids are often too flat to get a pizza in when it's sitting on a cake stand so you have to think outside the box sometimes. So I put the pizza in the preheated frypan than when the base is crisp finish the top under the grill in the same pan. Also, using this method you can also cook pizza at home from scratch. The ham I often pre fry and the supermarket base I often crispen one side in another frypan with a bit of oil and use that side to put the topping on, then the uncooked side crispens up while sitting on cake stand in the frypan with the lid. Brown the cheese off under the grill.
Dear Stian! Beautiful and precise work ! 👍 The only thing I noticed was that the redialing lacked the "De Ville" on the bottom of the dial ... but nevertheless, what an amazing look this Omega Seamaster had at the end ! Just lovely ! 😊
Thanks! And yes, this model should in fact not say De Ville :) The dial had been badly repainted at some earlier point, which was probably why it flaked off so badly, and that repainting erroneously added De Ville.
What a handsome watch! You are a surgeon with these watches. And actually a handsome movement as well. Awesome refurbishment that I would be proud to wear.
Enjoyed your video. Nice seeing an old watch come back to life. I liked the old metal watch strap and was disappointed that you went to a new leather strap.
Thanks! That old metal bracelet didn't really fit the watch very well in my view, making the watch look small and somewhat insignificant and the owner wanted to put a leather strap on it :)
One of my favorite vintage watches, for sure. I have its cousin, a manual wind cal. 610 version. Interestingly, when I acquired it, it also had a loose cannon pinion. Great job as always! And you're braver than me for doing that case work. That case is a true pain to polish, but it came out excellently!
I'm all too familiar with those projects that after you start you question your own decisions, but can't stop and just have to suffer through and get it done right.
