  • How to do a cradle spin on the pole. This is a spin for all levels and can be done on either spinning or static pole. With the evolution of pole and the rise of so many pole competitions, pole spins have become almost a lost art in pole! So much focus on big tricks and transitions these days. So we're gonna take it back to the beautiful simplicity of the spin with this tutorial. The cradle spin can be a challenging spin initially but once the mechanics are clear it will be well within your grasp.

This is one move I can honestly say I struggle with. It's like I can't get my hips up to where I need it to be. Maybe I need to tuck more.

Studying this in hopes to finally get enough strength to get into Apprentice, which I have struggled with, for over a year. I told my instructor I needed to regress to this move, rather than banging my head against the pole, so to speak, unsuccessfully attempting apprentice.

The cradle is definitely a good place to start while working towards your apprentice! If you have not done so already, I’d love to have you join my EBFit private Facebook group and share your videos there for celebration, feedback and pointers. Make sure you answer the FB group questions so I know you are a fellow poler 😉

Love this tutorial. Quirky addition to a traditional move. You articulate those crucial little details so well, like the use of forearms in this move. So incredibly helpful! Thankyou.
Question... how could one 'drop' down the pole from the no-hands cradle, like the ball drop does? hmm..

Thank you for the feedback Megan. Since our bodies are all different sometimes one variation works better for one person and not for the next person.

Does it make a difference which hand you release first?

Yes! I find it's much smoother with the bottom hand switching first.
