Hi legend, thanks for helping me out with my battle. The army comp was just kind of a leftover army from when i confederated elspeth that i never really cared to change since it was doing well enough up until this fight. When i fought this battle, the enemy ran directly for my units as soon as their reinforcements arrived, and i didn't get a chance to fire as freely as in the video. AI was a downright mess here though. 😅
It's like that at a strategic level too. If you go long and start being in places it doesn't expect you to be, it becomes completely aimless and defaults to camping all its armies around one settlement. It's so frustrating.
@@nonesuch6833 on my wood elf campaign it happened to me. South realms mod faction got stuck on deference, since they amass big upkeep redaction in one province, they had 14 stacks but once moved lost half of each to attrition because they had no gold.
@@nonesuch6833 tbf about the camping thing. Some attacks, like cannons and other big weapons, can bypass the "no unit death" effects. Its easy to test with grimgore's da immortulz and very high moral boosts. Not many will die maybe 1 or 2, falling off a wall will do the same thing
i bet you the reason the ai derps out when you swap sides is because there's still an invisible capture point on each battle map from when they thought that was a good idea in Rome 2, and they try to not get too far from it
The thing is, you always manage to have them chase your hero's. For me they just ignore my hero's and just run straight for my hidden units.. No matter how I play it
I presume you're not playing on VH, because they do this all the time on the hardest difficulty. As Legend has said before, some battles that can be cheesed are unwinnable on Normal or Hard.
Legend explained it. Sometimes the higher difficulties make AI more stupid. An example was with how AI targets your heroes with artillary and archery on the various difficulty levels.

Why do people keep putting 2 engineers in Empire armies, really not required. Even when fighting 4 stacks, the 4th one usually just gets army lossed and you have ammo left to spare, especially when you have a LL spell caster in your army, 1 engineer is fine. Landships and Steam Tanks, where is the life wizard?
They do an obscene amount of damage with their rifles (Especially if you trick one out with Elspeth's laboratory items) and they're relatively fast. I prefer to have just one but dont mind a couple for deleting important targets.
