This movie is a PERFECT example of why practical trumps CGI!
For1- Most people are freaked out by spiders … including actors! So you can get legitimate reactions from them when encountering this big spider in a scene. And for 2- It usually just looks better on screen!
Saw it in theaters and loved it and I can't wait to own it finally

***SPOILERS***
The spider is so average looking that it hardly creates any apprehension. Only people with arachnophobia might find this spider slightly unsettling, mostly because of its size. In my opinion the designers were too lazy to think of something truly scary, since the thing is from outer space, which gave them free rein to go all out.
However, I loved it!!! It was fun, well-paced and I enjoyed every moment of it. Will definitely add it to my collection of films!
I agree this spider just looked like a normal black widow, feel like the alien aspect of the spider could have been explored in its design but overall was a fun fkn film
