Painfully accurate. The only thing you missed was an old timer in a rusted out pickup rolling past you who spent only 1/1000000th you spent on gear that you don't really need. He's got a garden shovel and a 2x4 for recovery gear, 2 cans of beans for food, a sleeping bag and a tarp. Also, he should be a little pissed because he's been camping there for years but thanks to social media all his best spots are on the internet now.
@@adanielweaverit was an 88 Honda Accord. And it would out climb totally decked decked out 4x4 pickups on rutted hills. It just needed to be primed by pouring beer in the gas tank.....er....um....driver.... And vacuum lines are easier to deal with than corroding electrical.
The objective of 4x4ing is to see how far you can get your rust bucket up a mountain. The objective of overlanding is to see how long you can keep your brand-new Tacoma from getting scratched.
And soon, someone’s brand new, super expensive truck will become that rust bucket that goes places … in the US, statistically speaking, up to 2% of the time since very few ever step off improved roads … overlanding is an industrial complex branding something that’s been quietly happening since the automobile was invented. 💫
Maaaaan this had so much more potential, can you make a part 2? The crocodile Dundee style cloathing, the tactical equipment you MUST have to go camping, the portable satelite you need, calling every camping trip an "expedition"
Yep, back in the day it was just trail riding for the weekend. You took the bare necessities but just enough to handle what you may need and a couple coolers of food and drink and had fun. And ALWAYS have a couple cans of spray cheese...you can air up flat tires with the pressure from the can. No one judged you for your ride and everyone was part of a group that watched out for each other.
The family and I went up a local canyon "truck trail" after breakfast one day and encountered about 6 toyota overloaders, err..overlanders blocking up the easy line with their photoshoot. I kindly passed them on the "hard" line in our 2wd Trooper (our daily driver).
You forgot, “leave all your shit strapped to the exterior of your rig, RTT constantly mounted, but only camp twice a year.” At least that’s Bay Area broverlanding.
Step 14: Get really hyped if someone has a similar vehicle setup as yours. Then compare every minute detail for hours 😅 Step 15: Accept that showers are entirely optional. After all, you are in nature 😁
The best use for overlanding vehicles, from what I have observed, is the daily commute. It destroys gas mileage but you're always ready to spend a night in the parking garage when the commute back home looks dicey.
Holy crap, is that a Peter Chao/Davin Tong cameo?! Two Vancouver UA-cam legends unite! Definitely one of the most unexpected crossovers I've ever experienced
Wow, you guys are genuinely funny, I love comedy but I rarely laugh as much as I did with this video and your one on mountain biking. You really hit the nail on the head@
A few years ago my grandfather gifted me his 80 Series Land Cruiser since he no longer drives due to age; and boy let me tell you… I seriously wasn’t expecting the lifestyle change with that SUV!
Offroading is about capability of getting over obstacles. Jeep Wrangler. Overlanding is about reliability and parts availability to get to remote places or go long distances without breakdown. Toyota 70 series. Most people don't have the time, money or dedication to go on a real (months or years long) overlanding trip.
Overlanding is best paired with mountain biking. I want so bad to go over, landing to a campsite with mountain bike trails, seems like the most fun one could possibly have.
Great video as always, but you should maybe check the rights for the „get on my level“ merch. There is a really big German UA-camr that also has a company and everything branded „get on my lvl“ so you might wanna check that.
Leave a comment below that includes the words “spray cheese” for a chance to win one of our new “Get on my Level” t-shirts!
spray cheese
Spray cheese
Spray cheese on your Tacoma to be a holy Overlander dude 😎
Spray cheese for me please!!
The nice thing about spray cheese is you can use it as tire sealant in a pinch when you're out on the trail.

that 98 Camry is the true offroad king for making it the places it does.@@adanielweaver

You killing it!! LOL
I was waiting for the Subaru jokes during the Vanlifer segment 😂😂 absolutely good vid buds, it has this Overlander’s stamp of approval 🤙🏻
Dang, didn't even consider Subaru! That would have been good.
Same. I was fulling expecting a Subaru when the Jeep guy showed up.
Same here. And I own a Subaru wilderness edition. Haha
@@cTron417 Full disclosure, we had about 3 days to source and gather the various car-specific clothing, so it might have been hard to get Subaru too!

That's sounds like me. I'm so overworked I can't even make it home. Sleeping in the back of my rig and making macaroni and cheese off of my hood.
