I got the same identical model from a friend of mine,said he cant get it to work and I am welcome to have it. It does not turn on. I assume the batteries have been in there for a long time. I replaced them with new ones hoping that would take care of the issue. Not so. Are there any other possible issues in why it doesnt turn on ? thank you !!

For stud work you don’t get a visible line for the base unless you tilt the unit…..or am I missing something?
How do you know if you are holding or mounting the level promptly. How do you know if the line is level.
It will flash the laser light if it is not level. When it is level the light will be solid. Easy to use.
Be sure you do not leave the batteries in it while storing it for several months. I did and the electrical board got fried and it no longer works.

How did you get the laser to project onto the ceiling?
It just does on its own with the vertical line.
Hiw did you attached laser to the wall?
Corner bead is metal and the Laser Level has a magnet on it.

Only bad thing is the pendulum doesn't lock.

You will wish it did lock the first time you drop it ......
Only time I wished it locked was when I was trying to align the handrail of the stairs. Locking it on an angle would have been great.
A locking button is critical for transport and doing angular setout for tiling etc. Pity...
