Hello. It's always nice to watch your videos. I'm glad you had a nice vacation. With 4,000 new images/videos, I bet your sales will rise in 2023 🤞😊
Thanks for watching matey. Fingers crossed they will do the trick. I forgot to add after the edit cull, the amount will probably come to under 2,000 useable images 🙂
@@andrewbalcombe1338 2000 is a lot.... I strive to upload 1000 photos a year 😅😊
thanks andrew
Well Andrew, It's certainly nice to hear someone who's genuine for a change. And on that note iv had to sub to you dude... Keep up the good work and vids😊❤
Cheers Keith, and welcome aboard!
Not a bad haul for 2022! Thanks for the updates! It's cool to see how this side of photography works. Keep up the great work, and thanks for showing us how this works!
Thanks for watching Chuck and the kind feedback. I'm glad you found it interesting!
@@andrewbalcombe1338 Yeah, stock is always something I want to dip my toes into a bit more.
So seeing the results from it is pretty rare I think on YT, so your vids are a perfect window for that.
A few bucks here or there, might not seem worth it for some in the short term, but 2K? That’s a nice little side hustle. 👍
@@Chuck8541 Cheers Chuck. I'm glad to hear that! I enjoy doing stock and most of that money earned last year was passive. The hard work had been done in the years before!
Thanks! 😊
thanks for video Andrew, good you had a nice trip to Tasmania! I hope I will visit it at some point, it looks amazing. My January 23 was also very disappointing, I didn't reach my 100$ mark for the first time in 1,5 years. Feb looks better so far, but we will see... Cheers!
Hi Aleksandra, thanks for watching! I hope you get to see Tassie too. It's a special place 🙂Yes January was a tough month. I hope Feb sees you rise above the 100 mark! All the best!
Sounds like you had a very productive trip to Tasmania! Best of luck getting through all of those assets and uploading them. It overwhelms me just thinking about it!
Thanks for watching and yes it was a great trip ! Looking forward to wading into the images and vids once this book is done and dusted. Ok, starting to feel a little overwhelmed now aswell.
Nice bro...
Thank you for sharing, It's sad that earnings are so low for such a lot of work with good intention that cause people to sue. An ask to take down should be enough, unless this is refused.
Thanks Dierdre, Yes it's a tough old business at the moment, that's for sure. I just try and get out of it the things I enjoy. More cash would be nice though 🙂Adapt or disappear I think is the way forward.
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the mention about my blog and the legal notice. I'm cool about it but of course still annoying. I'll try to update on whatever happens.
In the meantime, I've begun researching about different types of insurance that we, as editorial photographers, may obtain to mitigate such risks. I'll update my findings at the end of the month.
Good luck with the backlog, I'm sure you've captured some great scenes!
All the best - Alex
Hi Alex, thanks very much for that. I look forward to seeing your update. I've been thinking about public liability insurance too. I'm going to be looking around and seeing what the costs involve. I think it may be a necessity for photographers selling editorial and people images going forward. I'm busy uploading videos of my trip first and then will start on the pics. I hope you are having a great home coming in Brazil and wish you all the best matey!
Nice video. Can you share the link to Alex 's blog in the description box. So Everyone can read it. 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for the suggestion. Done!
should have included it sooner!
If you want to learn trading, this is the place for you
If somebody knows how to trade, just watch some Michael's videos and you will change you vision😀
Got some work to do! 4000 photos... wow!
Yes I get carried away sometimes, i'm sure their will be a photo cull though and the final amount will be significantly less
I am fully focused in Book Cover photography rights managed. I also had problems with an editorial image, too much stress and hassle for 0.30 cents. I dont see future in Microstock anymore, now also with the AI illustrations is more and more difficult.
Thanks for watching and your comment. It's very interesting to hear about your change of tactics into book covers. Do you have a large portfolio? and do you mind if I ask which agency you upload to? I can understand how you were affected by problems with your editorial image. That kind of stress can have a negative impact on your health. I am very mindful now about uploading editorial images. You are right regarding the risk compared to the reward. Good luck with the book covers!
@@andrewbalcombe1338 i have around 1000 images now accepted. I use Arcangel with 4 sales i was close enough to your yearly 2022 sales, hopefully this year i continue growing the portfolio. It fullfill more my creativity thr books, is a totally new market but nice. Best of luck with everything Andrew
@@TheThinFrame Many thanks and good to see you are finding success with it. All the best! Andrew
Hi..newbie here..how do you see side by side photos( stereoscopic) to sell? It worth? Thanks
Hi and welcome aboard! Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with 3D photos. I'm skeptical if they are worth the trouble though. Thanks for your comment!
Will I be sued? This is the thumbnail. I really enjoy your calm and honest videos but this was a clear cheap clickbait.
Hi Svetlozer, thanks for the honest feedback I appreciate it. I admit. it was click baitey. I'm trying out some different strategies with titles. It's still a work in progress.
@@andrewbalcombe1338 Thank you for your honesty.
Please guide me!!
I want to Start my stock footage journey but there is little confusion 😕
..
Should I upload my footage individually on every platform
Or
I should start uploading footage on wirestock and blackbox .. if yes then which one?
..
Please guide me
Thanks for watching. It's a big question with different answers depending on your circumstances. Watch my video on Wirestock and I go into these kinds of details. Let me know if you have more questions after you search through my video archive. Good luck!
I'm not sure why this video was made.
If you are wondering why the title "will I be sued" is in the thumbnail. It's because I talk about how a friend of the channel faces legal problems for a photo he made. I recommend watching till the end.
@@andrewbalcombe1338 I watched "to the end". I am wondering why the small dollar value of your monthly sales warrants making a video about it - there's nothing much to report. Expect disappointing sales unless or until you have 100,000 to 200,000 stock shots (minimum) circulating on the market.
@@DAWeeve Thanks for watching until the end. This is a channel for people interested in my journey and have a love for stock photography. That journey includes the happy and sad times and everything in between. It's not a channel for people solely focused on the bottom line.
@@andrewbalcombe1338 fair enough, but why _not_ focus on the bottom line? (You spoke about sales figures more than enough in your video here.)
Camera companies are now making 'flagship' digital camera bodies with an AUD $10,000 price tag, sometimes more.
The Canon RF 15-35/2.8 or 28-70/2.0 zoom lenses will set you back $4k.
Add another $4k for a 70-200/2.8 tele-zoom.
I have 400,000 stock shots and I'm lucky to make $250 a month in sales.
There is now _far more_ income in video than stockshots because photo buyers want free or super-cheap images sold at nickel-and-dime prices.
There is no need to continue this conversation back-and-forth, but I raise valid points.
I shoot all the time and the more jaded among us (I'm admittedly one of them, shooting professionally since 1987) just don't bother talking about or 'engaging with' these low-ball and/or royalty-free pricing issues that now plague (or destroy) our industry.
If you (or anyone else) wants to make money in stock photography, make sure that you photograph *_people._*
People shots account for 50% of all stock sales each month. The remaining 50% of sales is all the other subjects *_combined,_* such as landscapes and travel and concept shots and sports and news, etc.
Model released people images are the *_best_* stock sellers.
Thanks for considering my opinion. I meant you no disrespect.
@@DAWeeve Thanks very much for sharing that opinion and also your experience. I understand and agree regarding the sales potential of video and people shots. That's part of the journey and it's up to each person to decide what they want to shoot. From my experience, model-release human shooting drags a lot of energy out of me and comes less naturally than other photography and videography. But this can change depending on my desire to earn more etc (part of evolving or adapting). Your feedback is greatfully accepted and thanks for watching!
