How To Train Your Pigeon And Alienate People...

- How to get double the chicks from the same pair in just a few extra weeks. Since I'm only racing the boys it means I can get a little extra from the hens if I plan it right. Floating the best eggs under the race team and then getting an extra set of the best eggs. All the while in the background strange things are going on in the pigeon world....

really enjoy your videos, I don't have pigeons but always wanted them and to start racing but I have followed your videos for a couple of seasons now and good to see you back on. good luck with your breeding season look forward to the chick hatching out see how you get on with floating the eggs.
Always a pleasure to see you back, shame to hear the RPRA is stuck in the mud 😢
I think what your trying to do is great Dan. From one youngish UK flyer to another, thanks for everything you are doing to promote the sport.
Thanks bud
@@howtotrainyourpigeon None of my family that I know of have raced pigeons. I started like a year and a half ago, I got alot of help from local club... I mean alot they where great. But honestly your channel has been a constant source of amusement, reassurance, and information. I can see how much time filming must take on top of everything else going on in your life, but genuinely thanks for doing it.
Im in Dublin, when I was a kid it was easy, you built your loft and got a team together to start flying. There was a loft in the garden before I was born so I had a scraper in my hand from early on. I tried early last year to get back into the hobby and fell at the first hurdle - planning permission! I intend to try again this year with revised drawings but have little hope of a different outcome. Sure I could build a small loft and keep the fingers crossed but it’s a gamble when an enforcement order could land on the doormat any morning! Not sure that many kids would have the chance of experiencing the sport these days.
@@stephenm8797 do you need planning because it's a new build house or is permission required for all domestic properties?
I am glad to see you on here again I am racing my old birds out and not breeding any young , I am 73 years old and it’s getting hard work so I will be packing in this year to much hard work and too expensive will still watch your videos best of luck for 2025 season
Dan, as a new flyer but someone with lots of connections and ideas please let me know if you want anything. It’s so behind the time, even in our club from race updates to the clocking in, reading the race results! Ultimately my push and ambition is to grow the sport, I’ve even thought of doing a channel like you. Well done! Good luck
Really enjoyed this looking forward to the season now even though I know longer race . I hope you are doing more videos as the season progresses cheers mate and good luck to you 😊
@@alanwilson8368 thanks bud. If I can find new topics that are enjoyable to film then I'll keep doing it 👍
always enjoy your refreshing style of editing.fanciers must pull together more than ever now to help the hobby survive.& people like yourself working behind the scenes to promote it 👍 good to see your son enjoying the pigeons at his own pace . I'm sure his & your dedication will see you win many races in future.i first started winning at club & fed level at 16 years old in the mighty UNC through sheer dedication.keep striving 😊 btw don't worry to much about stock pigeons unless you have paid big money for them. some of my best pigeons came from pairing best to best (based on results) then your best proven racer breeders get put to stock when retired from racing so you're keeping the proven bloodlines in circulation.takes the guess work out of it 👍 sorry so long winded 🥴
Much appreciated!
my dad currently races pigeon in south wales. ive been hanging around him getting tips before i start my own loft, i hope i pinched all his tricks lol, great channel this is, keep up the great work

Hello Dan, i enjoy your channel keep up the good work, can i ask you how after the vote was taken for the RPRA proposal that it's turned over again, how is this legal if it was passed, you'd left the meeting i don't understand how.
@@davidmitchard1330 no idea 🤷
Adoro tu trabajo.yo también quiero que los jóvenes sean colombófilos aquí en el sur de España ❤
A fair bit of dampness on the floor at the door entrance of the loft, I would get some loft white on the floor, brush it in, and may I suggest wooden floor grills
It's just where the spilled the black grit
That's basically why I choose to only enjoy my pigeons in my backyard and train them as I please. Politics ruins everything...and will kill pigeon racing as a backyard hobby.
South Africa 😂😂😂😂😂😂..Cape Town 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Bien trabajo muchas gracias por traducir al español ❤
The main issue with pigeon racing today is that it’s too expensive to race them as teenager or young adult. I don’t have a fulltime job since I still go to school and with the money I make I have to pay for other things the only way I can race is because my dad is just as passionate about it if not more. Also a lot of people my age never heard of it. U can’t try something u don’t know exist
Road training = gas $$$
Im from Romania ❤

@@howtotrainyourpigeon I subscribed to you and I look forward to everything you want to share with us! I'm glad you have this passion, I also started flying pigeons last year! Lots to learn and lots to discover and I like to document and observe as many things about pigeons as possible. I wish you much success this year! I'll check out your other videos because I really like the format you use in your videos! Congratulations!

the trouble is that people don't like change, I'm in my seventies and things need changing
Thank for this platform and sharing your experience with us but i would like to know if anyone can tell me or shed some lights on how to I get birds from other countries to South Africa please that will be very helpful
I life in South Africa
Wtf they really went and change the vote after. That’s truly shocking of East Midlands region. I am 35 just starting and in West Midlands my club are voting for change. Let’s hope it happens
Yeah it was worse than I expected, though I was warned beforehand that "they'll never let it happen". Still I wasn't prepared to see it all play out so blatantly. The unfortunate thing is if more clubs had supported it and sent representatives it may still have managed to get through a second 'democratic' vote (assuming they somehow knew there was going to be another one).
@@howtotrainyourpigeon yes I expect that second vote was very under handed. Not communicated out or was but very last minute to make sure not many people was there. Of the 6 members in my club 2 of us rang the region to find a club in our area and they just said they didn’t know sorry. That’s why we voted for change along with the financial issues. If you can’t send new people looking to join the sport to a club as the governing body you have no job. That has to be number 1 priority.
Maybe an 'L' shaped loft and keep one of your other lofts ss a stock loft might be a good solution?
I designed my own L shaped loft 5 years ago and with the help of Matt feom Ecco lofts produced a very functional loft which houses a team of old birds flying roundabout 40) and young birds (50) flying a sliding door system.
If you are interested in having a chat or would like to see my plans and photos I would love to share 👍
@@AndrewKenmare definitely. I might do a video where anyone that wants to can video call in and do a live tour of their loft set-up 😄
think your angling for a new loft with a corridor lol
Pigeons always lay in the afternoon don't they?
@@mrwright5699 I'm not sure. I've found some lay early and then again the next evening

I’d love to have pigeons don’t really know where to start
@@gorgonscc episode 1 👍
Just couldn't make it up could you. It's astonishing how the latest vote went. Did anyone talk about why they reversed their own vote?
I have yet to see any sensible justification for the RPRA to remain as it is.
I need help to get in the pigeon game of pigeon
I don't understand why older members are so against change if it's for the good of the sport then why vote against, the whole system In the UK needs reform and the older members need to move away from their posts , it's them killing the sport and yet they have been flying since they can remember , surely they realise it's now or never
@JustinTrotter-tu5io I think they don't move from their posts because replacements are difficult to find. Therein lies the issue. The incumbent officials might think it's because the rest are lazy and so act more in their own interests (since they believe they care more than others). When actually I think most younger fanciers are reluctant to take up club and official positions because they can see how inefficient the system is and how difficult it is to get them to modernise. When you're working and have a family you just can't justify wasting time. So they demand change, but are dismissed as loud-mouths who won't help do the work.
@howtotrainyourpigeon I agree completely , someone somewhere to get a tight grip and find a solution
Hi from Scotland love watching your videos as I used to race pigeons but moved into show racers. Good luck with the racing season can't wait for the next video
I have a little pigeon
As a new flyer my self ,what I have found is pigeon men fanciers, are the most bitter twisted jealous individuals know to man ,they talk to you then soon as you start beating the old boys the won't look at you never mind talk to you .
@@keithalexanderrobbson2434 I haven't had that in my club. They're quite quick to congratulate anyone on a win. I suppose it depends on the club
@howtotrainyourpigeon yes mate it will do ,there is only 7 members I'm my club and when they had to vote on me joining, 2 of the old timers voted against me joining, the reason been is they never knew me ,the sport is dead and the reason been the old buggas who run it ,think you pissing in the wind trying to change it but I hope you do .
people are skint blame the goverment plus the price people are chargeing its silly .
Your doing a great job promoting the fancy, I would love you to visit some lofts that show people who are new to pigeons. You seem to handle your lofts very well, I love your videos 🕊🕊🕊
