Bud like I’m struggling to find the blocks u use do u hav like the names of the blocks used in each one of the gradients at the end
@@bobboblybom5023 I don't but there's a world download on the Discord
One of the best discussions of colour/contrast/gradient that I have seen - detailed yet still simple. Great work.
Thank you as ever. I appreciate it!
but he used the light color wheel and then tried to use it to demonstrate complementary colors, you need to use the pigment color wheel for that
Very interesting! Another fun way to learn about colour theory is to wander around your local supermarket and look at the different packets especially cereal cartons and soft drinks. Thanks for the video!
Thank you
This is one of the better technical build channels ive seen in the years, I really hope this channel soars man cause it certainly is unique in the way you demonstrate and explain how to build shapes as a process to complete bigger structures. Really easy to follow and learn. I subbed in the hopes that you could possibly make an updated worldedit tutorial with the latest WE version. Anyway thanks for the great builds and tips bro!
Thank you, I really appreciate it! I'll definitely have a think. I can highly recommend MegRae's World Edit tutorials in the meantime.
I know i’m about a year late to commenting on this, but thank you for such an in-depth and informative video! Just two things i’d like to add: the first is that in the video you use the ryb color wheel, which while that is the most well-known color wheel, it is really best used for pigment-based color. Screens such as computer screens use light-based color, so the rgb wheel is probably best. That means that red, green, and blue are the primary colors, and the complementary colors are red-cyan, green-magenta, and blue-yellow. This may lead to even better color combos than using a ryb color wheel would get on a video game. Secondly, and correct me if you mentioned this in your video as I may have missed this, one good tip for if you’re having a hard time determining the value (light-darkness) or temperature of a color is to squint your eyes. Especially for blocks with more complex or high-contrast textures, squinting your eyes helps blur out all the excess noise to get a better general idea of what the block’s fundamental value and temperature is. Overall, very useful video and thanks for the info!
I did think about the RGB spectrum, but as the colour is on the blocks (which are open to lighting conditions in game) rather than a direct on screen representation of the colour the classic colour wheel seemed the best one, good shout on the squinting as a way to see the value 👍🏻
18:42 Might just mention here that I'm not just using colour theory for building. I'm looking at it through a way to make new dimensions that don't feel redundant. The overworld is primarily warm green, brown and grey with blue and white as accent colours. The nether uses the warm colours with turquoise and black as accents. The end is Black and white with purple as an accent. We could do with places that primarily use cooler greens, blue, indigo magenta or red-orange. Maybe with the super-saturated stuff delegated to artificial blocks. And maybe not just colour, we could have contrast, brightness and saturation play into palettes of these theoretical new places.
I like the idea of more blue spaces for sure! And generally more tones
I am a hardcore redstone guy. I hate building cause i am so bad at it, but i wanna tackle this issue. This is by far the best video i found. Gonna binge this series over the next days.
Thank you, I’m really glad this was helpful and hope you enjoy the other videos. It’s responses like this that make creating videos like this worthwhile!
Color gradient has always been my nemesis in building, thank you for the good tips and help!
Glad it was useful for you 👍🏻
thanks for making these videos, they're really clearly articulated and I'm saving them to revisit - and thanks for pointing out your use of really unusual blocks to get a good colour palette, I really hadn't thought of things like sponges or shulker boxes as building blocks!
You're very welcome! Make sure to subscribe as there's more episodes coming in the series
I was starting to enjoy Minecraft a little less then when I started because my buildings wouldn’t “pop”. Thanks so much for giving me that spark back.
I’m super glad I could help!
So fantastic!! Love the section on contrast, and also loved your comments on warm and cool toned blocks within the same color!
Thank you! I appreciate it. Make sure to check out the other videos in the series 👍🏻
Great video! This is extremely good to know in so many places in life, not just Minecraft.
As an artist i honestly had no idea people used color theory for minecraft buildings, i'll definetly try it
Awesome! You definitely should.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Im not a new player but I have a very hard time knowing what blocks work well together in my builds. Most times my builds just come out plain and boring every time. I will take this information and feel more confident moving forward!!
You're very welcome! Glad I could be of assistance. Check out the other episodes in the series, and watch out for a new episode coming this week!
Awesome series! Can’t wait for episode 3 :)
Thank you, it's coming soon!
This is a good series. Thank you for your hard work.
Glad you enjoy it! Thank you!
I love the way you demonstrate and explain things. You obviously put a tremendous amount of planning into both - thank you!
A request: While your voice is very calm, you use the crosshairs as a pointer to make very rapid movements that jerk the visual field around a lot. I find it difficult to focus on the information when this happens. I’m hoping this is something you can reduce in future episodes. Thanks!
Thank you so much, and I’ll try to shake the camera less. 👍🏻
@@AdieCraft Thanks!
i literally know nothing about building im a terrible builder but this video is so underrated i mean the effort that you put into it is incredible!! 😥i wish this had more views, it taught me so much in an easy to digest way, thank you from the bottom of my heart loll 😭😭
That's why I try to make videos like this, so I really do appreciate your comments. Thank you!

Upon reading your reply, I realized I did not subscribe 😮
I just rectified that ha ha
Wow wow wow. You are so knowledgeable. I'm tryna level up my MC building skills so I'm learning a lot

Love the snow globe and Yuletree
Thank you!
I'm quite the noob in MC. And find building besides natural areas overwhelming. But these tips are already helping me think of how I can make even simpler builds look much better.
Gunna give these a go. Thanks for this video! It might help make a builder out of me lol
Thank you so much, i'm glad it's been useful for you. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series!
@@AdieCraft thank you. I shall! up to episode 3 so far, as i just finished episode 1 after finding the series playlist :D You're video's are fab. Im now considering taking on a big challenge for myself, to test via trial and error the tips learned as I watch these.
Im excited and feel so motivated and inspired to try things ive not tried before, out of fear of failure
Amazing video a year later keep doing good work
Thanks! Will do!
I been working on color gradiant practice, I managed to make a bar that goes from black to white pretty smoothly, but i'm having trouble make the white (or the black for that matter) go into another color to keep it going
There's not many transitions from black or white to colour unfortunately. You can get to Brown from Black through the Terracotta's and some of the deepslate ores or glazed terracotta blocks can help too for getting colour from black or white.
Thank you for the tutorial. Do you recommend having a creative world with the exact seed as your survival to plan out builds worth the terrain before building in survival? Or just do it in a flat world with the builds. I ask cause I feel it’s double work to do it in creative?
Thank you! It depends. Flat worlds are great, but seeing a build in its environment helps get the feel for the finished result. I would say both are good. If you’re doing basic planning and making general ideas then a flat world is good. But if you want to plan out a world and get the atmosphere then I would use a copy of the seed. I have a flat world for messing about and a copy of my Adie’s adventure world for full planning of the area.
Man this is a good video
Thank you, I appreciate it!
@@AdieCraft Thank *you* for making such a good and concise series :P
Sick video man👍🏻
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Hi I’m just starting the video and I really like it good job and I hope you are successful in life and that’s all I have to say have a good day and goodbye.
Thank you.
this is a really good video
I appreciate it. Thanks

Great way to flex!
Hey is this colour wheel available either through patreon or something? I'm interested in getting it. Thanks. Andy.
The colour wheel was last updated in 1.17 and was before the Patreon started, so this is available for free through Discord.
i love your artist's eye and teaching the art world to minecraft being the Medium we are using . Thank you. Please consider your Video capture. You move the camera way too much and it actually triggered my vertigo and gag reflex and a migraine.
Thank you, and noted. I will try to move the camera more slowly and smoothly.
@@AdieCraft you are a genius and generous to give us all this technique and tuition for making our inspirations come true. Thank you so much Sir.
Is this by chance a downloadable world? I would love to be able to refer to this.
A world download is available via discord.
i wanted to ask. Say ur building a medievil or modern town whatever. and you want the paths to each building and the roads look good. im so bad at that so if u have any tips or a video that would be great!
I’ll add this into the landscaping episode 👍🏻
@@AdieCraft yay! Please do comment to this and tell me when u do

@@AdieCraft just did!!
Any plans on updating for the new 1.20 blocks?
I will at some point, yes. I’ll probably put it as a drop in when I do a new episode of the series.
@@AdieCraftlooking forward to it!
... the colors n' stuff are really great- but uh
i can't even make a castle like that- i'm pretty bad at building..
I think i should maybe start at just being able to BUILD something? lol
Make sure to check out the other episodes in the series they will help. There’s also a tutorial for that castle on the channel 👍🏻
Can you make color theory version of color wheel on 1.20 pls...
I’ll have a look at updating the world
@@AdieCraft thx bro
Can you do copper gradient from green to orange
Copper is the simplest gradient. Just move through the the stages of oxidation.
Where do i download this world?
It’s available via the Discord.
@@AdieCraft thanks I found it after scrolling up for a bit
Second
Thank you!
More blue and unflammable brown blocks mojang pls!
Completely agree! And some Moss slabs would be great too!
Where would sandstone fall?
It would depend if you’re looking at the top or the side, but they’d both be close together in the yellow section
7:00 when poland
🙂
I noticed that lol
19:02 I dont think you had to correct yourself there. You were saying that there is no reason that we cant do that. So cant was right here.
👍🏻
Isnt the primary colors, Red, Green, Blue, as in RGB?
There’s lots of different versions of the primary colours when it comes to pigment or light (which also has additive and subtractive primary colours) this is one of them (and the one historically used for art)
Your voice cut out from 11:05 - 11:07
It did?
@@AdieCraft yeah, click the timestamp and it will take you to the time it happened.
First
Early views are always appreciated!
Umm so i'm sorry because the video is great but there's just one thing that's bugging me : red, blue and _green_ are primary colors in additive color mixing, not red blue and yellow.
Also cyan, magenta and yellow are the secondary colors in additive mixing (and primary colors in substractive mixing)
👍🏻
@@AdieCraft it is impressive that you still respond to comments in a 2 year old video ! Thank you for these videos they're very useful !
1:13 red, yellow and blue are not the primary colors
Red GREEN and Blue are the actually primary colors(in case of light color) or Magenta Yellow and Cyan (in terms of pigment color)
The video is great, but we need to make that distiction in order to understand color in te correct way, RYB(red, yellow and blue) it's an inferior version of CYMK (Cyan Yellow Magenta and Black) because back then they don't have the tech to understand right the colors
This actually depends on what colour model you're looking at, the one referenced is the Classical Artistic model (part of the subtractive models - mainly used in painting), rather than that used in light (RYB) or printing (CMYK) models. This was specifically used for ease of understanding for people being introduced to the topic, although you are correct that there are certainly more models that people can explore. They are just that though. Models rather than one definitive right or wrong answer and all three models are accepted to provide primary colours based on the perspective of the requester. From a Minecraft perspective RYB is a nice simple introduction to help people start matching colours.
@@AdieCraft there are right or wrong answers. You can't mix RYB and obtain all the colors, so they aren't primary colors, because by definition, primary colors are those with which you can obtain all other colors, I understand that the idea of the video is learningn how to improve building in minecraft and not being picky and pretencious with color theory, but this is basic, and RYB is not correct, simply as that.
@@kevinpiriz469 It's probably something you should raise with Wikipedia and Encyclopaedia Britannica too then. 😂
@@AdieCraftis you monitor RYB? do you have yellow light sensing cones in your eyes?
I love the take but green and purple looked awful imo 😅
Haha, I like them
