Filling the mold with several small pours rather than pouring the liquid clay all at once allows the clay on the lower portion of the pitcher to be thicker which is where it needs to be strongest. This way as the body of the pitcher progresses upward the walls become thinner which makes the pitcher less heavy and easier to use.
Initially he is filling upto top level and allowing to solidify some time later he is draining temaining liquid.during this time peripheral layer of slurry is solidifing.😊
This is the only natural source for burning in kiln these guys are not burning any coal or furnace oil which can cause risk for the environment. Thanks a lot for your comment.
@@SkillSpotter well, the combustion of coal and oil certainly produce each different "side products", the burning of wood though is not a good option neither I am afraid. Sure, I live in central Europe, we think that the use of solar and aeolic energy is a way better way to protect us from the effects of rapid climate change. But I also understand that most humans live in places, where this ideas yet have not arrived. So I admire old skills and leave you back with new ideas for new skills. ;)

It is a long time training work to be an expert they are only using clay and gypsum powder made molds. I'm very sorry for giving you a very late reply.
Fascinating. Slip casting always feels like a miracle, the highly fluid clay solidifying, as it does.
Thank you very much for your appreciation and valuable comment.
Very fascinating and very delicate but you are a master craftsman. I salute you.

What is the reason for pouring a bit in each mold rather than filling one entirely than the next (and so on)?
For Leakage testing of the base.

So how does the clay stick to the sides instead of settling at the bottom like it does in the barrel?
Deflocculation. Google it.

Thank you so much for explaining.
The plaster the mold is made from leeches the water out of the clay letting it build up against the plaster. Time = thickness.
Can you please tell me, what are the ingredients to add the clay. I am from chennai
A deflocculant. Probably sodium silicate.
Probably also soda ash
