- They're all good in this series, but I have got a soft spot for Merle Haggard. If you like this, check out the five part upload of the Hank Williams Story. corporalhenshaw showing you the best of classic country, soul, gospel, jazz and blues.
I am so thankful for President Ronald Regan, for giving Merle a pardon. Without that pardon we would not have all this great music.
"Country King" he will always be. Great interview with our #1 hero. Love him and miss him every day. Thank God for all of his music and interviews we can listen to forever.
Merle Haggard is a purity of truth and perfectionist. Still Loving and missing him ♥️🌹. RIP
i grew upon hagg songs and still listen to them. pure country love youre music
Yeah but I was a young long hair and liked Merl like most everyone I knew. He was real nothing fake about him.
I got to meet Hag after a concert some years ago and hang out in the front of his bus he was the most down to earth person ,he was so cool . I was leaving an asked him for his autograph but I didn't have anything to get signed so he signed my new dress shirt I got for the show , across the front with a sharpie ! I wear it now an then when I get in a Hag mood
You have LIVED life....we will miss you,but we will stil be able to enjoy your music
Greatest, none will ever come close to this LEDGEND
Carolyn Bozeman ummmm . George Jones
@@krisschlitt8735 um kinda when I think of Merle I think of Merle bc he's badass but when I think of Jones I think of Jones and merle. Bc Jones won't be Jones without merle

I grew up hearing about Merel Haggard , My Dad played in his band lived with him and dated his daughter , all before I was born lol but it's a cool story to hear and I do listen to his music and it's cool to learn more about him

I
I AGREE!! #1😘😁OKIE FROM MUSKOGEE!!
He said in an interview that he actually wrote Okee From Muskogee for his father.
The best
Like Merle, my Dad was a neat guy. He too was an ''Okie". About 65 miles south of Muskogee Oklahoma USA.
The greatest Country music singer of all time in my view.
I agree
"Why don't you guys just come around and use the front door."
Fkn legendary.
I would have given anything to go on a boat ride with Merle!!!
Fell in love with Merle's songs when I heard his song 'From Graceland to the Promised Land' included in the tribute album 'My Farewell to Elvis' which he made after Elvis died.
For all you who don't think merle was the best. Ask George Jones ask Vince gill Ask George strait Ask garth brooks. The list goes on and on
And me the answer will always be the best
Yeah, sure. But Jones was the best singer.
I'm sorry but merle was the best there ever will be ask Vince gill
@@TheMargarita1948 okay you bet Jones but come on don't be blind, EVERYBODY KNOW THAT MERLE IS THE TRUE ICON.
May you still play with all the other greats ones in the Great Opry in the Sky!!!
The list is great but Merle is tops!
I loved the Hag
I wonder why it's so rare to find people that listen to old country stars like haggard. it just seems like with all that was happening in the world with wars, drugs, and hippies, it seems like the country music of the time fell on the wrong side of history.
Listen to Steve Earle, just about anything his, but So You Wanna Be an Outlaw is pretty recent and great. Steve Earle has been the heart and soul of hard-core honky-tonk since the mid 80s
No disrespect to Merle. I saw him with his jazz band in San Francisco 10 years ago at least. After the show, he sat on the steps of his bus parked on the street and signed autographs for at least an hour. The audience included some demographics you don’t see at every SF Jazz concert.
So handsome
A different aspect I guess..people love the Hag world wide..
I like that last one, "to bad boys, I've already a good time" Merle I'm sure has had more fun than most men will have in 100 lifetimes. I loved Merle. I didn't quite know how to take that song though. I have heard several explanations and they have all been different. I heard him say it and I believe it. I didn't hear it hear though.
Very nice clip. Thanks for turning me on to the series, too. Bravo!
Merle didn’t change from crime because of Cash. He had escaped prison several times and an inmate had asked him to escape again but Merle declined. The inmate was pulled over and killed an officer after his escape, that scared Merle straight along with a visit from
Cash. He had said he wasn’t a fan of Cash’s music but was in awe of his stage presence and connection with the prisoners. Cash turned him on to country music.
WONDERFUL
Rich Hall where you been, man? do you ever get old?
Hag RIP
Humble man
Great stuff....Thanks for posting my friend!!
The greatest singer/songwriter in C&W history. Merle was like a Royal flush in poker. He was a great singer, versatile singer, prolific songwriter, solid musician, and a fine entertainer. On top of that he had movie star looks. Name me one other artist in the history of American music that was also a Royal flush. Maybe Brian WIlson?
I don't think he was going to steal your money leona, he has more money than you. 40 songs number one.
Amen. As I said b4 it was prob his money. Come on
Leon a is a damn joke. Probably his money in that damn purse what a joke she is
She's a joke. Can't stand her, wannabe singer
Leona Williams used Merle, when he wouldn't put the spotlight on her in his shows she got her panties in a wad and bailed on him....they had an open marriage, that's been reported many times and even in one of Merle's books he admitted that....but, he was a man who loved and I really feel she broke his heart when she left....but, he rebounded,,,,probably the best thing Leona ever did for Merle, was leave him! I am so happy he found Theresa and shared almost 30 years with her!
She had to get some revenge as he ditched her.
GEORGE JONES is the definition of country music!
yeah them brits sure sound funny don't they, whadt're they getting their opinions for?
Dont call him MARLE. Its MERLE
Hid her purse. right sure
Probably nothing in it.
His money most likely in her purse. That was a stupid ass statement coming from her wth
31 dislikes is a joke.
the accent is making me laugh
