What i cant understand is why Chelsea Manning is swanning about on speaking engagements and yet julian Assange thinks he is going to get a death sentence. Why would he be treated more harshly than Chelsea Manning?

By now, things have gotten far enough. Deterrance against possible treason is already established. Enough is enough. And I don't think there was geuine spy like malice involved, but granted one should be loyal to one's country. If the USA wants to further establish an example, make a charge of a year of imprisonement (that could be served very leniant), and whatever time conditional. (Though I do think there is some degree of free press issue here.)
This whole story is rather emabarrasing to the USA, since there is also a lot of really good and motivated "leakage" going on in the contested material. But at the same time, obviously loyalty and treason is vert relevant. It's a "Dreyfus" situation sort of.
A long, drawn out case. Who benefited? In contrast to current DOJ positions; Hasnt he become ineffective?
David Grusch has been threatened with the death penalty too.
The classified materials that were leaked by Assange apparently resulted in the deaths of multiple people working for the U.S. security services. These people would have been local people in poorer counties helping to fight against threats such as Islamism and other terrorists.
If proven beyond reasonable doubt that they were killed as a result of his leaks them Assange should be tried for this too.
Name one case where this was proven? What is fact, is that he exposed US military war crimes, which the US wanted covered up.

The USA is NOT a Democracy... It's a Constitutional Republic. Julian Assange has had his Constitutional Rights violated by both the Obama administration, AND the Trump Administration. Mike Pompeo, former head of the CIA, tried to assassinate him. Once that was made known, Trump stopped trusting the CIA, but at the same time, he made Pompeo Secretary of State. As he said at the time, it's the ONLY way to keep an eye on him... Julian Assange ONLY published documents that are an embarrassment to the US, and should have been long ago let go. This is not only a 1st Amendment violation, but many more of his Rights have been violated. In fact the REAL traitors here are Obama, Mike Bolton, and Mike Pompeo, among others.
