  • Hello Warriors of Light! This video will debut my new Final Fantasy 14 1.0 project called 'Hydaelyn,' I chose Hydaelyn as the title
    because it's what the original world was called before Endwalker established it being Etheirys. In this video I will be taking different shots
    from 1.0 and recreating them in Unreal 5. They currently not animated but it will become a future project!

    is it just meor the shadow were too sharp wich made it look so crusty

      You're right for some reason when I started working on this the Shadows appeared how they are in the video. Very sharp and noisy, did some research for Ue5 and couldn't find a solution to it. :( In Shapeless Memory I will make sure it doesn't look like that because it annoyed me a lot lol.

      @@ShiroCh_ID The great thing about this project is that it's manageable with one person. Now that I can solely focus on it the results should come out a lot better! :D

      lmao the best part about Yda is when I went to ripp Papalymo falling on the ground she was off screen like that. Had too add that. xD

    This isn't going to be a kind message. That being said, I think it's a message you should and need to read.
    I don't know if this kind of project is worth your time and effort. The animation that you have for your custom intro is choppy, and if that's the best that can be done, then it bodes ill for the rest of the project. Aside from that, the lighting and poses aren't very good and sometimes even wrong (Yda are you okay? 5:34).
    In my opinion, you've bit off more than you can chew. If I were you, I would scrap the whole thing and just work more on the fundamentals so that way when you are properly skilled, then you can return and really make something special. But right now what you have is essentially a slideshow with worst lighting than the original cutscenes.
    Love the idea, but unless you have a bigger team with more people that have a particular set of skills, I don't believe it will be worth any of the time and effort you put into it and in hindsight, would actually make the game look worse which is probably not how you or others want to remember Final Fantasy 14.

      Thank you and I appreciate for your critique! This helps me improve and give a better idea of what to work on in the future!
      There's was suppose to more to this video because it was also going to be a project on boundary breaking (or dissecting) the cutscenes as well. A lot of stuff was cut from the video because it was running on 30min and I was working on two other projects. As for the custom animations, the intros are meant for me to improve my animation skills and learn more about Unreal 5. You gotta start somewhere and on something your passionate about.
      I'm not going to stop working on something I just started. I do agree with you that I need to approach it differently.
      The reason why Yda had her arm through her body was because she was off camera when I ripped Papalymo tripping and I thought it was funny (course the context of it was cut). If Shapeless Memory looks the same with crappy lighting and such by the time I start recording it then I won't release upload it on youtube until I figure it out.
      This three week break I'm taking is one to reflect on how I want to approach this project and how I actually want to do this. However I do appreciate your critique.
