This was the first R. Stevie Moore song (and video) I ever experienced. I was 13 and had no idea how much this man’s music would alter the course of my life forever. I was instantly intrigued by the song, the video and the man’s lifetime of work. It seemed to speak to me all at once on an extremely deep level, it felt quite mysterious. Surreal and yet somehow familiar, like I had known his music all my life already. Nearly a decade later, I can say with clear certainty that R. Stevie Moore changed my life forever. The way I approached learning how to make music was completely modeled after his style, and the musical ideals I formed were based around Moore’s ethos of musical variety. Truly a treasure forever. Cannot emphasize enough what this man’s music means to me. And for me, this is where it all started. Showing Shadows.
I remember hearing this when I was 11 years old. I never thought of music the same. This was truly different. Better than anything I ever heard before.
Thanks for everything RSM. You are a bountiful source of inspiration for me and many others! That being said, would anyone know how I could squeeze similar tones from the solo out of a telecaster? Any rig recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I'm not one to affix that much importance to the guitar, but am I hearing a gibson?

Where you part of a small circle of song writers or some thing back in the 70's?
yes, he was a part of Ethos from 1972 to 1974, and he also had some other friends who would occasionally come around to add to whatever he was makign
Mind blown. This is not Ween?

Love the phaser so much, is it a Phase 90?
Probably a Boss P3
@@LeftHandedRightHanded I actually now know for a fact he used a Maestro Stage Phaser, as stated on the info page for Phonography on his website.
@@BarnacleButtock Oh sweet! I just assumed the Boss because it's a popular and affordable pedal that can be obtained anywhere
@@LeftHandedRightHanded the Boss PH1 came out in 1977, so way far off of the recording time for any of Phonography.
