Sorry man but that's really a question for yourself. This is kind of like "what is the meaning of life". So many questions have no concrete answers. It's really weird and confusing philosophical nonsense the further in you go.
People devote their entire careers to that field and don't get anywhere.
At the end of the day all we can really rely on is pithy sayings that don't have a clear meaning. That is the truth to life. Here's the answer to your question:

@Daniel Rucker et al -- I made this animated piece and wrote the words to the song -- and then was able to cajole my friend Lewis to "put together" something for the music. So, a couple weeks later he gave me a tape -- which was great(!) the music and effects and vocal all on one track which synced perfectly to match the animation. And hey, this was like 30 years ago for crissake........ with one piece of soundtrack you can avoid an expensive film sound mix.... So, to find out about Lewis Motisher, start with googling Lewis Motisher Ragtime. He lives in the neighborhood -- you might see him on Irving Street............

Vince Collins Thank you so much! I have found his ragtime stuff... I have actually spent a couple hours researching and writing some guitar tablature for this song. I have so far found an address and a phone number, as well as some artwork that he has put together for the ragtime group and his friends. I have also found the video company he worked for during that time period, W.A. Palmer films, but I cannot really find other contact information, like an email. I know he lives in San Francisco, from the address that one of the ragtime pages gives for him, but sadly, I do not live in San Fransisco (I am currently located in Los Angeles), and I am not sure that he (or anyone) would appreciate a call out of the blue for some song they wrote 30 years ago by some kid that they have never met. Anyhow, thank you very much for the information, I will see what else I can shower the internet for.
Vince Collins By the way, I also wanted to thank you for the animations, they are pretty cool too. I think the difference between you and Lewis is that you have a good online presence, and other work, that people can find easily, while Lewis does not. The visuals enhance the music, and vice versa, good work!

Vince Collins Hey man, i'm a graphic designer and i'm such a HUGE fan of yours, your work is so underrated. The drawing style, how the animation puts together and one thing comes out of another is just marvellous, this particular one has an awesome message. (sry for bad english, not my native language) I always had one doubt about your videos, your intention was to watch them on lsd? i don't take lsd too often but when i do, i start the trip watching this video for sure!

I think I’ll do the same. I’m only in high school and have a 2 more years left. I had the exact thought and it’s kinda sad to think when we return we’ll be so much older and I’ll probably even be an adult. scary and sad.This song already invokes great nostalgia in me to the point it hurts and it’ll only be more heart aching when I get older. one time about 10 years ago i had a health scare and near death experience. while i was in the ambulance i was hearing this song in my head and hallucinating really similar visuals
Glad I'm not the only one who had these reactions. The first time I heard this on Off the Air at like 4 am, I couldn't shake this weird sadness all the next day. It was weird, the sadness sort of, I'm not sure, ached. It's an affective song, but I don't think anyone knows why

This song is like the most powerful reminder to live your best life everyday.
The lackadaisical tone makes me feel a sadness like no other, it's a desperation on my part, and an almost condescending part on the other side.
It also makes me sort of nostalgic with all those motion pictures, it seems like one of those songs you listen to as a kid because of the tune, and you don't even realize what the lyrics are talking about.
I also seem to feel an overwhelming happiness when the part of the cauliflower clouds, and the way he describing so other things. This is my life and everything is beautiful in it, and everything is happening so fast. I'm so happy to be living and seeing things like "cauliflower clouds". And you know what, my thirst for life will never run dry, there is so much beauty and I just want to experience it.
The disarray of emotions makes me almost uncomfortable yet warm inside that I don't know what exactly I am feeling, and I think it's amazing how simple words and a catchy harmony of combined notes can make me feel. It makes me uneasy, but I love it.

I revisit this song every once in a while. Watched it 12 years ago at 18 years old. Now I’m watching it at 30 with my three year old daughter. Always makes me tear up.

Every now and then I like to come back to listen to this. I think the most clever part is that the background color changes with the beat, as if that zappy sound was a color change mechanism. It's most noticeable in the part with the spiderweb stars floating by.

I remember watching this on the ABC's RAGE program as a teenager back in the 90's. After a big night and one of my first psychedelic experiences, this music clip blew my mind. Even painted the flaming eye on my first guitar way back when. I've been looking for this song for nearly 30yrs and finally found it today. Thanks for uploading this video friend.
Edit - Only saw the clip once. Now after seeing the video again, I realise it wasn't blue flaming eyes, but i think they are meant to be fish. In my mind they were like comets or something. Altered perception lmfao
