In this Welcome to the Jungle guitar lesson series, I will demonstrate how to play this classic debut track from the great Guns N’ Roses note-for-note.
Make sure you tune your guitar down one half-step to (Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb) in order to follow along with this lesson and the original recording.
In the first video lesson, I will demonstrate that incredible intro and the verse and chorus riffs. I will end the first video lesson showing you how to play Slash’s first guitar solo.
In the second lesson we will take an in-depth look at all the remaining guitar riffs and of course, Slash’s second guitar solo.
Have fun guys!
Carl…

Clark didn't play on welcome to the jungle
The intro is difficult because it's the best part of the song, and Slash knew one day we'll want to learn it.
It's not that hard
intro is probably the easiest part, if your good at picking
GolfSauce you’re* and yeah it’s pretty easy I can do without a pick it just kinda hurts my fingers
@@BrettGolfs yeah not everyone is good at picking
@@BrettGolfs Considering that the majority of people here are beginners since they are looking up a lesson, it is safe to say that not everyone is good at picking.
Can’t believe Slash was this good at 19. Here I am 40 and struggling. Thanks for the lesson!
Doesnt matter what age you are my man, it matters how committed you are and how much work you’re willing to put in, i know 12 year olds that can play Cliffs of Dover
just needs practice you'll be as good as him
age has nothing to do with guitar. It’s all about your drive and how much you want it. just keep practicing and soon enough you’ll have it down perfectly.
He was good enough at 14 to go try out for KISS when they replaced Ace Frehley back in 82 Paul Stanley said he was good but just felt he was too young to be touring at that age but remembers being really impressed by him.
@@splintercell0147 In Paul’s book he said that Slash told him he was 16 almost 17
Now that I have begun learning this song I can finally see why slash is considered one of the best guitarists ever
He is creative but far from being one of the best, we have so many monster guitar heros, but slash is not one of them to my liking
@@06147433 he is to mine. I don't care about shredding 20000bpm, personally. Slash's riffs and guitar solos are great thanks to not being like that.
Let's give Izzy Stradlin credit too. GnR was more than one guitarist, especially on Appetite for Destruction. The band took a huge dive after Stradlin left.
@@TruePointers Izzy is amazing. Izzy, along with Matt and/or Steven, not being involved in the reunion has been a massive disappointment. Even in Slash's book, you learn what an integral part he played in the writing process. Without him, GNR was never going to last.
@@06147433 idk ab that one if he wasn’t we wouldn’t be sitting here talking ab him today
Every now and again you find a youtuber who graciously imparts PRICELESS lessons (not just this particular vid, but his entire anthology) ..he is an encyclopedia and as far as teachers go, he is SPECTACULAR
ABSOLUTELY
Dude. Your lessons are the best on UA-cam. Your skills and sounds are unmatched by any mortal. There is no way you are human you must be some kind of god or a super advanced android
True
He's very very good but there's only one God
Hey guys I found a great tip
To tune your guitar Down half a step, just put a capo on the first fret then tune it to sound like your standard tuning, then take off the capo
I hope this helps anybody :)
or you can download a tuner app just make sure it is chromatic tuner, there are some apps that also have metronome and chords
Thanks for the tip👍
Thx
This seems like a bad idea-tuning will usually change a bit when you add/remove a capo and you need to readjust anyway. Is it really that hard to just tune it the right way with a tuner? How do you do your standard tuning?
Or you could just tune it down the normal way
Somebody FINALLY nailed that intro! That open B (missing in all the tabs I've found) and the rhythm and picking pattern are PERFECT, thank you so much!!!!
The subtitles say,
"... show you how / plays it..."
haha
Peanut Butter & Jelly nice

@@quandaleinstitute5623 Wh- what?
Jeb Gaming no idea
I'm pretty sure it was Izzy Stradlin and not Gilby Clarke, i think Gilby Clarke was a later guitarist after Izzy left
That sound right...
Yeah I mention that mistake of mine a bit later.. Maybe it was in part two
+GuitarLessons365Song can you teach us how to play favor house altantic by coheed and cambria i love the way you teach
Yes that's correct.
GuitarLessons365Song haha OK, awesome lesson btw
I basically learned guitar from you xD Ever since I started in middle school
He’s amazing
A great guitar teacher, in just two Days using your lesson which is this song Welcome to the jungle I have memorize the intro to chorus and starting to have decent speed. Hope to see more of your awesome tutorials.
Great lesson as always! This is the correct way to play the intro; by including the open b in between all the other notes for the first half. So many lessons on youtube which only pick triplets the entire intro.
You are an excellent teacher. This is definitely a song that should be learned by video lesson, not tabs alone. Ive spent years lulling over the dumb tabs that are written for this song, never understanding the intention with which each note should be expressed. I learned more than i imagined, and it was EASY as heck! Thanks!!! Intro was actually not as hard as you make it out to be if you know how to alternate pick, so thats a relief!
Your style and method of teaching guitar is excellent.. I absolutley appreciate how you are able to show and explain how to play the song. Thanks
Best Welcome to the Jungle lesson on youtube. A lot of people teach this song but in the intro, they don't teach the ghost note slide from 2-4 on the G string(which Slash DOES play) and they don't teach the down up up picking pattern. Two small details that make a WORLD of difference!! Really shows you care about the quality of your lessons. I subscribed.
Absolutely love your lessons and how your so consistent with your uploads man !!!!!

Amazing how different some of the parts are laid out in my Ultimate Guitar app. Your instruction is clear and simple. Thank you.

Thanks the best lesson on this riff. I always wondered why it looked like slash was moving to the next fret when playing this riff. I was still a bit confused about playing open notes at the beginning

I just purchased a course on this album from a source I won't name here, but it's nowhere nearly as complete (or correct) than what Carl demonstrates. Rock on, Carl!

For the record, Gilby Clarke does not play in this song, it's Izzy Stradlin that plays the second guitar.
