- Interventional Cardiologist, Dr. Ali Haider, unboxes and reviews the 3M Littmann CORE Digital Stethoscope. The Littmann CORE features the outstanding acoustics, comfort and quality of a Littmann cardiology-grade stethoscope enhanced by powerful digital technology. Features like up to 40x amplification and active noise cancellation can help you auscultate with greater confidence.
Dr. Haider has been a fan of Eko digital products since the CORE was first FDA-cleared in 2015.

I've had the same stethoscope for a decade now, all of a sudden all of my patients had "diminished" lung sounds. I am a senior nursing student about to graduate and I could not afford to fail clinicals because I don't have a good stethoscope. It was a big investment because my hours of work are reduced, but worth every penny! I also have TMJ and the ear pieces are very soft and I have no problem with them. Highly recommend this product!
Thank you so much for your support and we are happy that are seeing (hearing) positive results!
What stethoscope did you have in the past?
Is the app free of cost or we do have to pay for subscription?
@@suryakantabehera2946 yes the Eko App is free.
Why would you fail nursing school if you didn’t have this stethoscope?
An honor to work with this cardiologist!!
You've worked with Dr. H too?
Just bought a new CORE stethoscope as a birthday gift to myself since the Littmann classic II stethoscope I am using had been gifted to me by my deceased mom in the summer of 2005 when I was just a student. I felt I needed to up my game and work shorter but more efficient so purchasing the CORE with Eko attachment may just help me achieve those. A few comments if you will, 1) adding a detachable flap or USB cover will work wonders especially if I were to clean my stethoscope with alcohol or CHG wipes so the attachment won't get grounded or break easily. The other is maybe 2) switching up from micro-USB to type C USB? That way, there'll be less cords to use if a user such as myself is attuned to using devices with the type C port. All in all, this is a good investment and I am so excited to use this on the floor.😊
Thank you for your kind words and feedback!
How was the experience of you ?
I have just order littmann core stethoscope today as it is going to available in India now...
Feeling excited 😆
Are you able to remove the eko core attachment and put it on another stethoscope?
E graças a Deus deu certo! Agora eu ausculto com tranquilidade, o que eu nunca tinha feito antes... Eu faço faculdade de Enfermagem e provavelmente teria que desistir dela se não fosse o amplificador!
1. How to ensure the Quality of the Littman Stethoscope?
2. Is there any Testing Devices / Simulators for testing Stethoscopes ?
3. What is the Testing Method(s) for Testing the Stethoscopes ?
4. Which one is the Original -- the engraved Trade Mark or Printed Trade mark?
In a world where the future is USB-C and almost everything new technology-wise is USB-C I wished you have gone with it instead of micro-USB.
Thank you for your feedback!
I would add to this suggestion that Eko also consider having a port cover of some type. It is very difficult to sanitize a usb port.
@@Ekohealth Cover the USB-C to keep it clean
or add a micro-usb to usb-c adapter
Is it useful for Dr. , using hearing aids?
Thank you very much for the detailed preview Dr Haider.
You only forgot to mention the 60 USD per Month for the AI function, or is there a free version of it?
Hi there! Our Eko software to visualize, record, and share heart and lung sounds is free. Access to our FDA-cleared AI for AFib and murmur detection is free for 30-days and then begins at $50/mo.
I just wish Littmann didn’t d/c the 3200 electronic - I still use and love it, just wish I could easily transfer sound recordings to physicians when there’s something abnormal heard. There’s no way to update the 3200 and or have it serviced. It’s such an amazing stethoscope idk why they didn’t continue it.
This will be easier to hear through all that adipose tissue that is so fashionable for people to have now days.
And through the silicon 😂😂😂😂
hi, Eko! Look, it's so strange - all about cardiology, where we also have blood tests with good alternative biomarkers for diagnostic purposes.. yet- nothing about respirology, where lung diseases (crackles, wheezing etc) are 'primary' detection points using stethoscope, since blood tests can not identify those. So: 1. do we have sound recording capability for documenting specific lung examination sounds and future comparisons (same patient or diff. patients)? 2. since digital stethoscopes seem so 'way more advanced' (40x sound amplifications, recording, wireless features etc)- why I have not observed a single 'real life' physician using it? (considering that they earn way above 100k/yr, so affordability is not a factor).
im a physician in the inpatient setting and in the market for buying one now, now that my littman cardiology master lost some pieces. Feel like its time for an upgrade. I might buy one, though its not necessary to have one. I have listened to the sounds before though on digital stethoscopes and it was more clear and i think it will help me with some patients. btw totally agree about lung sounds. that would be a great feature
Hello, how can I order the eko core attachment only? I cannot check out from the eko website since I am from the Philippines. I already have the cardio IV, am looking for the eko core attachment I have hearing impairment. Thnak you
Is it normal for the sound to be very low when playing the recordings on your phone even at the highest volume setting?
Would you happen to know how this stethoscope translate into veterinary medicine? Would you happen to have any DVM or DVM cardiologist that utilizes this stethoscope?
I just received mine and there is very little instruction on use. I'm having a hard time finding heart sounds and when I do they are very very low. Even with the volume is turned all the way up. In analog mode I hear nothing. Is there an instructional video somewhere?
That's crazy something so expensive wouldn't come with instructions.
Perfect product review.
I am loving it so far
Is it good for hard of hearing doctors?
Where to get it in Pakistan
- I have a question about the durability/sustainability of this stethoscope.
- The stethoscope is based on a rechargeable battery (battery with accumulator) with a working duration of 8 hours (in a 24-hour shift, it must be charged 2 times = a lot of wasted time).
- being on a rechargeable battery, the operating time will decrease by 20-30% per year... just like any device (eg: phone, laptop, tablet) after several charges.
- Is it possible to purchase spare rechargeable batteries? for example: the litmann 3M 3200 is powered by batteries (AAA alkaline batteries)
- no store/partner store provides extended battery warranty(battery with accumulator)
- is there any solution in this case, assuring me as a customer, that the battery-accumulator will not fail after the warranty period? (2 years warranty) Thank you!
8h working time you turn it on for about 1-2 min per patient. I charge mine about 1x every two months.
8 hours if you were constantly using it, so unless you are holding it to a patient for 8 hours straight, it will last quite a bit longer.
Can we disconnect the tube and hear the chest sound via bluetooth wireless earphone?
Hi there! You can with the CORE Attachment CORE Wireless Assembly (short)
salutations existe t-il un stéthoscope avec un conteur analogique et numérique les 2en1 dans le même conteur ? Merci ++
I'm a vet and I've noticed the problem with all the amplified stethoscopes I've tried to date is they pick up lots of noise from the environment as well. I know you won't believe me, but veterinary clinics are fucking noisy places. Techs are playing country or death metal while they type up notes. Dogs are barking. Clients are screaming about their bill up at the front desk. Maybe this stethoscope would be different, I'm losing my hearing as I get older (too much Led Zeppelin and punk in my youth) and might give it a try....
I found the noice canceling extremely well, I don’t know how well it work in a Vet environment but in the Ambulance setting it works perfect
Did you try it? I’m a vet as well and i’d like to know from a colleague
@@justyouraverageboy7689 yes tried it went back to my MDF which is a littman cardio 2 ripoff. Either stick with littman or buy a littman replacement tube for the MDF is my advice. I've busted my MDF three times and even though they replaced the tube section under warranty I got sick of dealing with the hassle of getting the replacement tube. Littman replacement has lasted a year so far.
I've been thinking about getting this digital Littmann for monitoring my cat. He has HCM and I want to be able to check him on a weekly basis and I want to be able to share the recordings with my Vet. Plus I want to be able to compare recordings with eachother, since I'm not a trained doctor. I think it would help me noticing changes in the heart and lungs.
But you don't recommend this Littmann for vet work then, if I understand your comment correctly?
@@Avio033 Hi, thanks for commenting on my post, I had not actually tried one of these and some veterinary students who were doing clinical rotations at the shelter I work at had them and got to actually try one. It was definitely the best digital stethoscope I've tried. I also liked it because you can actually disconnect it from the stethoscope and place it against the patients chest in surgery. We played with that a few times and never perfected it but it has a lot of promise as you can out the readings to a phone. These are pricey to be honest, and I'm not sure what you will be able to determine as far as the HCM at home, even comparing with your vet. HCM involves (as I'm sure you know) thickening of the left ventricle, and corresponding shrinkage of the chamber. If you haven't been to a veterinary cardiologist and gotten a ultrasound done on a really good ultrasound machine I would recommend that. It's amazing what a cardiologist can tell you, and the detail they can see, including if there is any "smoke" (ie clots) in the upper chambers of the heart. My own cat had RCM (restrictive cardiomyopathy) and I took him to our friendly local cardiologist for three years. Also pricey, but I got a discount cause I referred patients to them. A plain ol Littman Classic is still a damn nice stethoscope, you could get one of those, learn about heart sounds then once you are confident purchase one of these and splice it into your Littman. Who knows, may start a veterinary career for you?
Is this good for hearing impaired individuals? I'm going into college as a Vet Tech and am looking for the best Littmann stethoscope for my hearing needs
Yes - all of our stethoscopes support clinicians with hearing loss. Read our guide for best info: www.ekohealth.com/post/stethoscopes-for-hearing-loss

Hello, what are the differencies with the EKO DUO ?
Plus, once the battery is dead, is it possible to replace it easily ? (with DUO / CORE ?)
Thanks.
The DUO is different because it only a digital stethoscope and has an integrated ECG.
does it work as a normal stethoscope when the battery dies?
I would like to know this as well
Yes
Does the 3M Littmann CORE = come with the adaptor tubing to use with other stethoscopes or does the adaptor tubing only come with the digital attachment only?
The CORE Digital Attachment comes with three sets of tubing adapters so it can fit many band adult and pediatric stethoscopes. The 3M Littmann CORE is fully assembled so it does not come with extra tubing adapters.

Is it water proof???
What’s the difference between this and the normal Eko stethoscope. Is there any real world difference?
Hi there! The digital technology provided by our CORE is the same - active noise cancellation, 40x amplification, analog/digital modes, Bluetooth wireless compatibility, and connects to our powerful software. The main differences are in the Littmann stethoscope itself: soft-sealing ear tips, a tunable dual-sided chestpiece, and Littmann-quality tubing. Think of the Littmann CORE like a Littmann Cardiology IV with the Eko CORE built-in. The best of both worlds!
@@Ekohealth thanks. If you were to use both can you tell a difference

What case will this fit in? The cardiopod II?
Yes the Littmann CORE Digital Stethoscope fits in the Cardiopod II case: shop.ekohealth.com/products/cardiopod-stethoscope-case?variant=39344078291040

in terms of audio enhancement, I have the digital 3200, is this an upgrade or downgrade from the digital 3200?
I wish I didn’t buy the 3200, almost impossible to save the audio file on Mac (and crappy quality) plus lot of parasite noise when listening to heart…
Don’t know if I will try this eko/littman product
the core is worlds better than the 3200! I’ve been using the 3200 for a few years now and there was so much noise interference that i hated using it. The Core better handles the noise interference better.
