Stupendously explained. Littmann is the reference point. If MDF is mentioned, ADC (American Diagnostic Corporation) stethoscopes should also. I have a Littmann Cardiology lll and an ADC Adscope Cardiology 602. Identical quality and performance.
@@FrankEdavidson Littmann is the perfect brand and the quality reference that others try to imitate. ADC is also top quality and at a lower price. It is entering South America successfully. Greetings from Argentina. 🤝
I mean, yes, I see the point that anything above Littmann Classic III is overkill for med students with little to no clinical training. But 1) stethoscopes can last many years, so you can over time develop the skills to match the instrument, and 2) the video does not acknowledge the med student with impaired hearing, for whom the Classic is insufficient.
It's not overkill really. Looking round the library and every student has multiple Apple devices, latest versions, some with fancy Wacoms, yet some grumble about buying even the cheapest stethoscopes for OSCEs so one wonders where priorities lie. Cheap out and one buys twice.
1. How to ensure the Quality of the Littman Stethoscope? 2. Is there any Testing Devices / Simulators for testing Stethoscopes ? 3. What is the Testing Method(s) for Testing the Stethoscopes ? 4. Which one is the Original -- the engraved Trade Mark or Printed Trade mark?
Superb video 🤗 I have ordered a Littmann Classic III Stethoscope 5811 Smoke Special Edition Black Tube. Can you please tell me that is it the model and design of yours one? ❤️
I also have a question I want to become physician I see that u are really successful in your life and I can you make video what physician need to know what should I do when I'm about 14 year old I think lots of people want to know that to thank you Ollie !!!!
Hello, Thank you for the video. What is your take on electronic stethoscope in general? Could you please comment on any of benefits separately (recording and telemedicine capabilities, AI and automated analysis, improved acoustics, volume levels, noise canceling, frequency shift - ability to hear ultra low frequencies of cardiovascular system).
@@OllieBurtonMed I am not a medical person at all. I am interested in technology in general. Are those benefits of digital stethoscopes useful for medical professionals?
@@antonburdin9756 Oh I see, pardon me. I can only assume that they are, but I'm not a cardiologist. I would suggest that they're probably not useful for most doctors/surgeons, or at the very least I have never ever seen an electronic stethoscope outside a cardiology department, and even then it was a trainee that was using one, not a consultant. So to answer the question, yes, but probably only for a very small number of people.
@@antonburdin9756 Invaluable in prehospital care at the roadside, in factories and other noisy environments where people inconveniently have accidents or take ill. Carry spare buds or circumaural headphones with a good IP rating and keep on top of charging. Being highly pocketable has obvious advantages and disadvantages. I'm not sure about repairability. The Thinklabs is much more expensive in the UK than USA, so perhaps worth buying direct and paying import duty. There are some good comparison reviews of electronic stethoscopes on UA-cam.
I got the black with champagne chest piece but the tubing is very sticky and it gets very linty, is this a problem you face as well? and if it is how did you fix it, does it go away with time?
Brilliant video Ollie! Have bought any other pieces of medical equipment? (Otoscope/suture practice kits etc) And the biggest question, have you named your stethoscope?
Hi Ollie, thank you so much for the great info and tips! Just wondering, I see the lowest Littmann Classic III stethoscope costs £75. Would you say then it's possible to get it at a cheaper price when they do a promo or even after promo £75 is the lowest price we can get?
I just bought my 9 year old one off eBay for £3. Lol It said it's for nurses and vets... I didn't know what the single head and dual head meant. Hence am here on UA-cam trying to find out.
Hi Ollie, I noticed you said you were studying medicine through the graduate entry programme. Could I ask what you studied at undergraduate level, as this is a route that I am considering?
Hey Ali! I did Cellular & Molecular Biology at Newcastle University, applied for Warwick Med School in my third year of the course and started med school in the same year I graduated from Newcastle. Four years later I'm now in my final year at Warwick and am heading back to Newcastle for my Foundation Training.
@@OllieBurtonMed Do you train under the Deanery of the medical school you graduated from or the local deanery to the trust you where the FY programme is?
@@FrankEdavidson The latter - you apply to a Deanery first when you're applying for jobs, then individual jobs/posts within that Deanery. Your own med school has no influence on the process
Actually the Littmann classic iii is considered expensive here 😆😆 compared to other brand,, you may can't believe but we can get a stethoscope with only $4 even $2 if you buy from ecommerce and it's not a no brand product
Hi William! A Littman 3 is more than enough for any medical student. Very genuinely all you really need to be able to pick up is an obvious murmur or abnormal breath sounds. Enjoy your ICU placement!
I don't know I'm afraid pal as I've never owned one. My Littman has been absolutely perfect and I've never had a problem with it, I'm sure the MDF is probably just fine too but I can't say from experience.
Thank you!
I was about to purchase the Littmann classic 3 but I was like "it'll be better if I saw a video on which one to get" and I'm glad that I did
im watching this even though im not a med student, its just my dream

I was so confused in cardiology 4 vs classic 3

You can also get great tips from watching the old Carry On Doctor movie which comes complete with English accents.
Digital things are prone to external factors, so avoid if possible in medical field (when possible), we never use digital thing for BP, heart sounds,
I’m in EMT school and In January I start clinicals. So I need to have one by then, so I’m just gonna ask for a MDF one for Christmas most likely

what stethoscope do you need as a medical student ? not a cardiology 3 or any other fancy one, any old basic Littman will do
Hi..Can you please tell me what's the main difference between classic 2 & 3 besides the price point??
Thanks very much for the video. It is an eye opener to me

Lets not get any titles engraved that we don't have. In Science, that would be ridiculous and not something you should do at all.
