Photo is the Japanese heavy cruiser Takao, lead ship of her class, taken during sea trials in 1939. She was launched in May 1930 and commissioned on May 31, 1932. Takao was the only ship of her class to survive though she spent the last year of the war anchored at Singapore with severe damage from torpedoes during the Battle of Leyte Gulf. She was too damaged to be towed to Japan for repairs so was anchored to use against air attacks. After the war she was sunk as a target ship for a British cruiser in October 1946.
I wish they would stop calling the front of a ship that wooden instrument that shoots arrows. Add a "B" to ow! and you've got it right. Then you can work on the correct pronunciation of forecastle - which is foc'sile. I know it looks odd, but every sailor in the world knows this one.
Artificial intelligence computers do narration almost free. The problem there is that AI has only reached an elementary school level. To make things worse, the English language is among the least logical and hardest to learn in this world. The word “bow” is not the only English word that AI can’t handle. Keep listening. Because there is money to be made, AI will solve these glitches in time, but until then, we will have to make mental patches over its errors.
