Wes Barker is a magician and comedian doing funny tricks, and telling great stories. Watch here for hilarious magic, stunts, and pranks. I am funniest magician that is also a stand-up comic, or maybe I'm the comic who is best at magic. Either way you get the idea. I tour all over doing colleges, comedy clubs, and corporate events. Catch the adventures and tricks right here. With this magician / comedian based out of Vancouver, Canada. I make funny stuff. That’s my only rule. Everything has to be funny, from street magic to stage illusions, as long as there is a joke to be made. I do magic tricks, sketches, stand-up comedy, card tricks, mind reading, and tricks with naked people. I’ve been on America’s Got Talent, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, MTV Greatest Party Stories Ever, and Wizard Wars. You can find me picking up chicks with sleight of hand, doing tutorials, and/or the occasional bar bet.

I don't often like videos, as it's a hassle, but I went out of my way for this. The effort show cased in this piece was perfect. Revealing, without revealing too much.

As a magician just barely starting to try to get more gigs (as I'm still in college and super busy) and do more performing, this was super fun and interesting to watch. Good stuff, Wes

Writing another comment as another thought occurs- i figure more comments are better for engagement anyway versus making one long one-
Anyway, i loved the moment you took to mention Penn and Teller. I'm 31 and so quite literally dont know life without them in it. I've tried to watch everything i can that they've ever done and still manage to stumble across new things. Ive had the pleasure of speaking with each of them once and it's something I'll never forget. The way Teller's eyes literally sparkle when he's amazed with magic still to this day is beautiful and he and Penn made such an effort in the magic community to make it into what it became today. I think a lot of the openess and helpfullness within the community can be traced back to them.

The sheer perfectly executed misdirection of the nickel and cork trick was amazing to see. I have a solid idea of how it was done, and it's pretty simple sleight of hand and misdirection. But when presented in such an expertly crafted fashion, it's mind blowing. Even to other illusionists. Wes' reaction wasn't acting. He was genuinely impressed by something that would take him a few minutes to figure out if he was a bystander and not the audience of the trick. I've always loved magic for that reason. Such simple techniques used to create an almost supernatural experience for people, and it never fails to elicit a smile.

Idk if it was actually supposed to be, but that bit where you got into your car after a show and immediately starting eating with zero hesitation, eyes seeing the world anew with any amount of sugar entering your system made me crack up. That's relatable in ways i cant fully explain.

minor thing for that last phone number trick - you should change your phone number to be something ending in an even digit - if it ends in an odd digit, it's impossible for the result to be true if they pick an even number at the end, as anything multiplied by an even number (666 in this case) will be even :P if the phone number was even it'd be harder to check at a glance :D

I thought it was funny you mentioned the socks. Idk if it was just coincidence that you were wearing special socks on a day you performed or not, but whenever ive got a gig i do choose my socks specifically lmao like, "how am i feeling today? Do i need my feel good performance socks, my bravery socks..?" Most of my socks have never seen a stage but i have special stage socks...
Realizing as i type this that may just be a weird a*s thing to do but i cant be the only one lmao

    • @LindseyMoon13

When you perform consistently, you end up performing through and around all the bs in your reality, and sometimes also in sketchy locations. There's been days those bravery socks have made me feel invincible haha
