We've finally found it: the Hyper Tucano
It's literally a Bronco, a Broncito or Bronchitis
The super Tucano is such a sexy plane
@@kevinm.n.5158 omfg it is a Bronco
It's literally a Bronco
Nope it’s the Defiant Mk.II
my favorite part is the fact that when stored the rear canon is just pointed at the back of the pilot and gunners heads

Things a flying death trap, normally means it would be one of the best. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
What's the escape plan?
Wizo: DESERTERS WILL BE SHOT
This was essentially built already as the OV-10 Bronco. Which was a beast of an aircraft for the time. Excellent observation capabilities good internal storage space and incredibly easy to maintain.
Specifically the YOV-10D (NOGS) Variant apparently
Now you need to make the biggest gunship you can build.
edit: thx for almost 600 likes :D
I would love to see more large, cargo/tanker/transport style aircraft
We definitely need large large vehicles.
Ac130 mothership
Looks like colonel messier is taking the air destroyer for a spin!
1 milion dolars per hour
Wondering if the turrets could shoot down projectiles like a C-RAM.
I'm sure anything smaller than a cruise missile would be difficult.
Problems would be finding, tracking, and limited angle of fire. It isn't the typical job of a gunship anyway.
Not a shot. Would a radar good enough to detect missiles, a computer good enough to run those calculations real time, and probably a gun with more volume of fire to actually intercept it. C-RAM guns are big
I imagine you'd need quite a big plane for this, but it would totally be possible (and would be cool as hell)
@@evanbeers1644 Not if you use the correct ammo, Rheinmetall programable 35 and 30mm shells detonate a short distance from the target releasing hundreds of thungsten sub projectile creating a cloud of srapnel which insures even the smallest drone sized target is hit multiples time.
You missed the big howitzer, though, so to make up for it, now you need to Germanymax and mount the biggest possible cannon you can to a moderately-sized plane (somewhere between an Hs 129 and a B-25).
Though not all AC-130 variants had that. Though I do think it the most iconic weapon in the loadout. (Even if both the Bofors and Vulcan are pretty iconic in their own right)
He already did that
@@spiderninga9910 sort of. It was not a gunship in the same sense. But a very cool plane.
The more recent variant ditches the 105mm in favor of things like Hellfires and such.
I would love to see more large, cargo/tanker/transport style aircraft. And then you can proceed to armor them to something like the B-17 Flying fortress
I was a bit sceptical about the gun placement, but wow, it worked nicely!
Cant wait for this game to finally release in early access!
There was actually a OV-10 gunship variant called the YOV-10D Night Observation Gun System (NOGS) with a m95 Gatling turret under the fuselage.
Video idea: I don’t think this is possible but it would be sick if you made a super maneuverable passenger plane.
Those passengers will get all the G's they'll ever need
It has to be able to pull a cobra
@@minhpham-yh9qnmust be able to take off from the top of a radio tower
I want to see all the maneuvers made possible
Also curious if this game would allow you to make a modern combat airship and cargo airship. A modern combat design could be used as a massive air superiority Zeppelin. It parks over a desired objective area you wish to lock down and is covered in tons of CWIS, positions for shoulder fired MANPADs, and guided missile turrets. Automatic targeting systems and radar coverage will inform them the moment a target enters their AO.
AC-130 ABOVE!!!
oh cool you're first
Nah this is the AC-30
I find using turrets in Flyout is a lot easier when their custom axis's are bound to the arrow keys. Aiming with mouse sliders alone is neigh impossible
Now make tanks fly… or a flying tank… tank carrier aircraft
Literally the first person I choose to watch over a wide variety of content, absolutely love these videos!
Great work on this one 👀
Now that plane looks like if a A-10 and AC-130 had a child it would be that plane.
Which makes it look fairly realistic IMO! This has the look of something that could have been proposed and at least partially developed in the 80s.
This is basically the OV-10 Bronco
@@GustavSvardsearch B57 Pace Gat and YOG10 😊
I’m an engineer in the field of aerospace and I really like the base design of the airframe, as a twin engine it would fly great and looks a lot like the OV-10 Bronco. Weapons placement and the back motors not so much but hey this is just fun.
I've been experimenting with a Harrier-type gunship for a while in Simpleplanes, and i am glad tbat you tried something like it in FlyOut. Good build 👍
Twin boom a-10 ok, interesting
I would think the C-146A would make a great 2 engine platform for an AC-146. It's already in inventory. It's based on the Dornier 328 turboprop, which means there are already parts out there for it. It can carry 10,000lbs of guns, ammo, fuel, and mission specific equipment. The wings and the propellers are mounted high, so it'll do okay in rough forward airbases.
You basically just made an A10 warthog that has turrets.
Wonder if this one would also give its crew cancer lol
Hopefully, hate those guys
@@messier82ac Lmao real
I loved this plane, I posted a similar crosssection vector in your server of a P2V which I names the P2V-8FH Super Neptune which had like a 20mm gatling on the belly that could be replace the 2x12.7mm turret in the rear. Could also carry either 2x50mm, 2x57mm, or a single 77mm for antishipping mission or for screwing the casual frigate or DD. Came with radar rangefinder, 1950’s-ish Night vision, Could bring 4 torpedoes and is faster than even the japanese P-2
I wonder how effective it'd be to use almost like a flying wing airframe, with the weaponry being able to be brought outside via doors on an underbelly of the aircraft. I'm guessing with the large wingspan it be able to loiter within the air altitude for longer periods of time
i love this idea, flying wings don't get near enough love
Cool aircraft. You can really see the OV-10 influences here. A couple suggestions if you play with this some more? You could mount the engine exhaust ports on the INNER boom for better heat signature masking. Change the tail rudder surfaces from vertical to canting INWARD or OUTWARD for better radar dispersion. Choose ONE GUN and mount it on the bottom of the fuselage more towards the middle for better weight distribution and lower cost. Use the weight savings from paring down to one gun for more hard points under the wings for guided weapons, etc. With only one gun to control you may be able to drop the WSO and crew ship with one busy pilot. More weight savings. Maybe try out a wing with slightly swept back leading edge for better speed and increase wing span and surface area for more stable flying characteristics and more internal area for fuel storage = better range and loiter capability. Cheers!
The AC-130 isn’t meant for main forces it is only used for special operations, it serves as artillery for them.
I've watched all of your video's and I have to say, this is my favorite channel by far, its just perfect, interesting topics and great commentary instead of an overly hyped 20 year old screaming in a tutorial on how to do something in a game that he magically managed to get to a 20 minute video
You need to have a couple of laser guided bombs, that not only you can guide onto a target, but also guys on the ground can as well ( if they have a laser :)
Nice plane but have you heard of the IA-58 Pucará? I think it kinda fit in the desing as well
This seems like it has too much overlap with the A10 or even a reaper drone. Sadly, if you're aiming to make a "more cost effective version" of something, it needs to outright replace that thing while also being cheaper, and the AC-130 is just a C-130 cargo plane with gun ports in the side and the related supporting equipment replacing the hold.
If you truly want to replace it, make a stratotanker into an arial VTOL jet drone carrier. Why? because one can rain death whole the other extracts a team of PJs and their VIP
Triple boom. A bold choice.
Have to say though, It doesn't look like there is enough room for a long loiter time after ammo, turret mechanisms, avionics etc are installed, especially with the thin wings
Loving the content recently!
Liked & subbed.
Really liking some of your prop plane concepts , keep them coming .
Triple barrel rotary 84mm recoilless gun ( Carl Gustav mini gun hybrid ) or much simpler auto loading Carl Gustav for multi mission use .
With use of newer technologies like true velocity’s plastic cased ammunition, modern internal & external ballistics of cartridges & projectiles it’s possible to get very reasonable ballistic performance from much lighter & smaller ammunition.
Helping to bring extra performance & cost savings into the package.
I like it. A lot. It's funny that the maverick is so slow you can fire it, and fly the plane to the target, make your sweep, destroy target with guns before the maverick makes it there 😂 it gets there and sees a charred tank and wonders "what did I miss?"
OV-10 Bronco could totally be a loiter drone with a minigun and laser range-finder to ensure accurate fires. just saturating the area with top-down 20mm is plenty to keep insurgents down or cause them to consider retrograde operations.
That plane reminds of the Skygrasper from Gundam Seed that a beam cannon turret behind the cockpit and a pair of engines on the wing tips.
Nice design thought experiment, but I believe if you used realistic weights for the amount of ordinance you have identified, plus a reasonable flight distance and loiter time, the plane has to grow in size. For the armament you have chosen, plus fuel load, you are likely looking at about 25,000+ pounds empty weight and 45,000 to 50,000 pounds max take-off weight depending on armament and fuel loadout. This is essentially an A-10. You will likely need an armored tub for the pilot and back seater, similar to the A-10, as this plane will have to fly at lower altitudes (probably 5,000 to 6,000 ft) than the AC-130 Spooky (10,000 to 12,000 ft) due to the smaller armament not having the range to loiter at higher altitudes. Would be interesting to see you take an A-10, remove the GAU-8, substitute the 25mm front gun and 32mm or 35mm rear autocannon, and add a back seat position.
I can't believe how much care this man puts into his videos, and he never fails to progressively getting better and better. Definitely deserving of all the growth this channel has seen
The niche this thing fits in (specialized ground-attack for low intensity or asymmetric warfare) is generally occupied by very many missiles harnessed to a dirt cheap subsonic aircraft, like an A-10, harrier, or Su-25.
Was kinda hoping you would go the route of building a modernized/futuristic Grumman Tracker style of aircraft and equipping it for gunship duties.
This design feels quite similiar to those you've already built as heavy fighters/interceptors in Prop Punk.
I also feel that for flight efficiency and areodynamic reasons you should make some fairings that cover the cannons from the slipstream when they are not in use, on the current design that is, rather ruins the lines of the aircraft and despite their angular design, would likely create a lot of unwanted or unnecessary drag.
You could use the original AC-47 targeting method of a 3-4-5 triangle. 4k ft radius orbit, 3k ft up, puts guns at 5k ft range. 53° angle of bank, maybe a little less for arc of fire and you'd beat the area at the centre of the orbit with fire.
The massive flying cruise liner you made got me thinking. The observation area looks like an AWACS. It would be cool to see you make a converted version intended to act as a nuclear powered mobile command craft, with many CWIS style defensive turrets on it to protect from missiles. It would be always on the move, patrolling the airspace of its country, and most likely have the air to air refueling as well as docking for smaller aircraft. Kinda like taking airforce 1 and turning it into a mobile defended pentagon for high command.
just watched your flying nuclear bunker video, that's pretty well exactly what I was thinking lol, love all the turrets
The US Marines modified two OV-10 Broncos in the 1980s into the YOV-10D "NOG" 'night operation gunship' and it was equipped with a M97 gun turret - which fires 20x102mm calibre rounds
In Your build, maybe instead of cal 50 gatling, might be more advantageous to use 3 barrel heavy machinegun. 3 barrels instead of more, bit smaller cadency, but still quite ammo guzzler, with redundant barrels in case of jamming, or failure.
Another posibility is to use lightest "heavy" machinegun (like chineese QJZ-89) barrel integrated into the wing, with body of the gun inside the hull of the airplane, for bigger ammo rack to supply the gun.
Aside from the existential dread pooling in the bottom of the cockpit. I think this is a pretty good advertisement for a return to dorsal turrets. More specifically in a light aircraft. The AC-130 gives up some of its rough landing capability for its armament. A light aircraft capable of using unprepared runways could be pretty effective.
if turret autocannon was sticking out of rear under tail, perhaps help if tail raised up some? easier to hit targets on ground without needing to tilt and turn as much, wings not get in way, but it would be at risk on takeoff and landing
what is your system performance on your hardware? I see the min requirements but what is the real world computing power specs for a smooth running experience?
Good idea, but a bit troublesome to get that into praxis. Im mostly thinking RECOIL. Recoil will dictate the biggest caliber aviable to use, to assure the main hull construction will hold it (i.e. NOT braking it in half when shooting to the side), AND recoil will not move the aircraft in the sky too much, to prevent piloted flight. Similarily like both on Warthog and Spooky, weight of the aircraft matter.
I think, that heavy machineguns and/or smaller calibre of autocanon, WITH AMMO, being encapsuled inside (awacs similar) disc - like gunpods, being used instead of the "main body" of the old "Lighting" design (similar to yours aircraft).
The shape should allow the gun to turn around and pitch up and down moving only the barrel up and down, with close to none effect on aerodynamics. If the disc is firmly connected into the frame, it could even be stabilized to mitigate recoil to a degree. For "harder" targets using Hellfires is the best solution, although having few suicade drones with warhead bigger than a handgranade sprinkled into the hellfire armament, would do a charm.
Not to mention, the aircraft/drone can either have more "discs", or it could incorporate the "discs" into the wing, possibly even into the smaller wing, connecting the backsides of the engine hulls.
Would LOVE to see that fire support drone with VTOL capability too.
Another possibility to make the thing work more effectively, is the laser-guided bullets for the heavy machinegun/autocanon.
The dorsal turret is hilarious 😂. I think maybe a mini gun or some dual, triple, quad .50cal would be more "practical". Back seater needs a helmet mounted sight.
Bro just loves the little light strips
I like this it looks like a crimson skies plane
Nice. I can't help but compare the mission to that of the A-10 .
Love the aircraft designs U do, they weird stile, but there cool in there own way
Choked myself when you said "a salt and pepper" xD 2:50
The most intuitive problem is that the tail rudder is too small. Secondly, in the recent war, the reality shows that the threat of individual air defense to this direct anti-infantry aircraft is too great, and perhaps the future will be the era of patrolling missile projection platforms.
I imagine the dorsal turret being rearward facing usually as no pilot would like to have their own cannon pointing their own heads.
Otherwise this is a really interesting take and a nice Spectre/Bronco mash-up.
Fun fact: for ground attack you can put a ramjet in an AGM-65 to make it a hypersonic cruise missile
i see so much of a crossover between your remixed A-10 your ramming fighter and the tank caliber plane
The minimum traverse for that autocannon would suck
Bro casually made a design that could get rid of both the A-10 and AC-130. More fine tuning and Lockheed is gonna come knocking with a job
Reminds me of the A-10 replacement the airforce tried doing
"Awe, look at that thing up there! It's so TINY!"
"Umm, sir....'tiny' just removed our right flank. And is now working on the left."
"........Excuse me, what?"
great video! keep it up
That gun location is crazy !
Ooooh, I love this channel and I do this in my head but with everything, I'm a huge sci-fi geek so but never knew this was possible, but I have some ideas for this platform!!!
Well, now I think about the Spectre Gunship from Generals and you probably should take a look at it.
Either a Vtol Gunship or a supersonic Gunship.
This reminded me of a B-1 gunship project.
Beautiful!
the military introduced something like this a year ago. Its an uparmored cropduster. It's called the Skywarden
You need to check out the AT-6 Wolverine and the Cessna A-37 Dragonfly.
Both modern, small, propeller driven aircraft, designed for close air support, at less cost and lower profile.
AT-6 is modern...
The A-37 Dragonfly is old as shit, and jet powered, not prop driven.
The A-37 was introduced in 1967, during the Vietnam war. It was powered by a pair of GE J85 turbojets. It was retired in the 90s.
WOW, ABSOLUTLY SPLENDID. MY LATE BROTHER GOT ME INTO THE KERBAL PROGRAM, I SEE HIS ENTHUSIASM FOR IT. GREAT BUILD!
this exists more or less, its called the Sky Warden, its a Single prop piston powered firefighting aircraft, retrofitted to hold Hellfire missiles and Paveway guided bombs
I love the design.
BadAss, i like it! It will do the job!!
OV 10 BRONCO....NEW load out.... using some of the cargo space...side pod will be a 20 mm canon..keep a 40mm bofors in the cargo bay .50 cal minigun for close support or self defense 😂
Socom is doing a similar thing for the US special forces, but they're using a crop duster as the base of the plane.
Mean (olive drab) Green !
You could save some weight and complexity by replacing the sidewinders with stingers
Morning uploads are goated
Great video!
IT sounds like an rc plane... I love it lol
You should look up the Au-23 and Au-24 of the mini-gunship program!
*Slaps roof of tiny gunship*
"This baby can dust more than just crops..."
Yooo, it looks like a mix of a P38 and a a10 hog!
if he made this design in the 60s he'd be rich in mansion rn
That swinging gun in back will have aerodynamic effects when it swings around, won't it?
The original AC130 proved successful in Viet Nam, but the production of transport versions had higher priority. So, the USAF converted mothballed twin engine C119s into AC119 which were superior to the AC47 and were used effectively by the US and South Vietnam until the very end of the war. The intended usage of these platforms was in orbit mode such that the firepower would be directed at a stationary point on the ground. However, with its thermal night vision, the AC119 proved effective in hunting moving targets, destroying vehicles moving along the Ho Chi Min trail.
There was a B57 that had a 20mm vulcan in the bomb bay, this was in competition with the AC-130
All the targets for this craft will be on the ground, both guns should be ventral mounted. This would allow for much easier targeting. The current design, with the rear gun on the dorsal spine, limits the firing arch of the gun. This location would also allow the guns to engage ground targets at all approach angles. Counter measures can just as easily be deployed from the sides and dorsal of the craft as from the ventral.
Gheee things are certain: death, taxes, and messier 82 putting a twin boom on something.
One change I would reverse the travel position on the rear gun having the barrel aimed at your cockpit is a bit unnerving
Ok this might be interesting… try to make an A20G havoc modernized with bombs missiles and Lots of counter measures (for show) but can also be light enough as a recon plane… that I would love to see
Make this a drone and give it a GAU-8 and you're cookin'...
Looks like a OV-10 bronco with a turret strapped on
Ah yes, a downgraded mass produceable A-10 spraying explosive death, another fuel for our nightmares
Where are the 32 and 15 mm guns coming from? Why the odd calibers? With the rear gun stowed internally along with the telescoping pintle, servos to travers and elevation, ammo feed chutes, and recoil buffers, how much room will you have for ammo? At least, it won't have to remain on station long until it depletes its ammunition stores.
Is there a way to make a high lift STOL plane like the an-72 in fly out?
Specifically the over the wing engines.
of course, as the aerodynamics are calculated from what you build, to an extent a rebuild will work the same
Build a plane that has the agm-65 atgm on a swivel mount so it can orbit for extended periods and fire the missiles at any angle that being the carriage back into the plane to reload or just carry a crap ton on the wings and drop the empty frames the missiles were on
Umm... if you put the biggest gun on the tail, wouldn't the recoil cause all kinds of yaw if fired out either side? If you put it at center mass and center lift, it mitigates that force.
The moment he started talking about the chaff and flares i started getting a lonely vibe as if he was lonely
