I know a lot of questions are being asked here and as I’ve tried to answer many we are releasing a new series on the channel with the vq swaps and all the info you could ever need. Each question here is answered in depth. Check out my channel and make sure to subscribe 💪🏼
Bro, your content is awesome! I can't believe you're not even at 1k yet, I genuinely thought you had 10s of thousands of subs based on the quality. Keep up the great work man 🤙
This helped me alot!! I made it work!! Thank youi just put the non rev up motor on with the non rev up computer. With the rev up harness, i just programed the key to it
Currently doing the swap. Got the JDM DE, 2004 non rev up ECU with nats delete. Using same harness and going to follow along with this. Hope it goes good.
i just did a jdm vq35de swap it came with harnes cut up so i gto new harness and the computer came with motor but it wont do anything click nor will it turn over idk what to do everything is hooked up all sensor matched up but it wont turn on idk why
another question, why not just use the ignition from the 350z and put it on your g35 and use the 350z key so it can turn on with the 350z ecu, im in the process if doing that right now hopefully it works if it doesnt i already found someone to delete the nats aswell
Not sure if anyone will respond butttt, I have my 04 350z 6spd manual that got hit by some dumbass. I have the ECU and De engine ready to go into a 07 g35 6 Spd. Can't I just use the same key that I used for the Z to get past NATS. Im sorry if I sound dumb. Thank you!
You can just swap all rev up stuff to the regular de block the blocks are exactly the same. Rev up heads and both front plates on to the de and that's it
I have 130k on my revup, is there something I can so do avoid problems with it, like adding catch can, or different cams, 🤔 ? It runs good now I don't really beat on it
Buying a rev up 166k want to be prepared to have to get a motor but rev up’s don’t exist have you gotten NATS disables yet? If so what company and how much
Hey bro I got a question I got my 350z with a rev up engine but I want to know if the regular motor the one is not a rev up I want to know if the block are the same just for try to find a block and put on my rev up engine
I swapped a 350z motor in my g35 (both non revup) and swapped the harness and all that but my original ecu got messed up do u think if I nats delete another de ecu it would work?
Vq35de from auto m35 went into my 05 g35 rev up it starts with the rev up harness and ecu but has a missfire would changing my rev up ecu to the de ecu help it?, can I keep my harness? Thank you, happy New Years!!
You have cleared up many many questions that I had. Only one question remaining. Does it matter if the DE engine you are swapping in came from an automatic/manual. Essentially I have a 2004.5 G35 automatic and at first was looking at spending nearly 2.5k to get a very specific DE engine that works from 10/03 onwards. You've shown me that with the NATS delete ECU for an extra $250 ish I can pick up a much cheaper different year DE engine and dont even need to worry about if it came from a g35/350z. My only concern is will the g35's BCM freak out if it sees an engine from a Manual DE instead of an Automatic DE? (Or will the BCM not even give 2 shits?) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
If you’re not changing what type of transmission you have (auto/manual) and you’re just changing the engine then no there is no computer difference. BUT BE AWARE manual motors have a pilot bearing in the back part of the crank that MUST come out. A pilot bearing puller tool can get this out. Also you need to install the automatic trans pilot bearing you can get that at any parts store. AUTO engines being installed on a manual trans car you DO NOT need to pull the automatic pilot bearing off you can simply put the manual bearing on top of it
Would using a de engine and de harness with the revup ecu get me running in limp mode until I have time to get the de ecu nats removed? I figure a de harness and de engine would be the same as the revup harness with the four extra plugs dangling right? Thanks! I’m doing this swap for a friend and know nothing about Nissans and I already have the engine set in the chassis with the de harness attached but I have a revup harness available to use as well. Any info is much appreciated!
i am going to be partaking in this process as the de engine is much cheaper and i seem to understand it all except one thing, the thing with the exhaust cam timing sensors is what causes the car to go into limp mode right? so does the NATS delete take it out of limp mode or is that a separate ecu reflash that would have to be done to tell the engine that everything is fine. what im thinking of doing is throwing a 03 or 04 DE into an 06 revup chassis, while keeping the harness and ecu out of the same 06 revup chassis. obviously i would have to do the nats delete to let the key start the car, but would i HAVE to swap in a DE ecu as well? since the car would be in limp mode as i would do the same thing you did, which is unplug the exhaust cam timing sensors. ive heard some people use the same ecu out of the revup and not have any issues with the DE after doing a NATS delete, but wouldnt that mean you have to swap the heads? im just getting tons of different types of information and need clear answers brother.
From my experience you’ll need to put in a DE ecu for the job to be done right. If not you’ll be fighting a ghost check engine code for your sensors that I’m not sure if a tuning shop would fix. What I mean by that is we tried with the REVUP ecu first and the car had only a 10% throttle response and redline was 2500. After the DE ecu the car drove fine and just needed the NATS flash
I have a 06 350z with a swapped de motor and i’ve been told it has a non revup harness and the original revup ecu. The engine was running fine with that setup but it blew up, so I plan to swap it with a jdm de motor. Would i need to delete nats or anything or would it all just be plug and play since the revup ecu was working with the de motor
hey there, i have a 2006 g35 6mt Sedan, my rev up has bent valves, i want to do the swap, i’m a rare case because i have the sedan but for me would i need to find a 03-04 6mt sedan ecu or can a coupe one work?
So if you’re going back with another revup then no you don’t need to touch the ecu at all. And if you’re going back with a de then I would either plan on leaving the stock ecu in and have a tuner flash off the codes for the exhaust timing sensors
I have a 2006 g35 rev up M/T and i did the swap but am have problems. I swapped in a 2003 de with the engine harness and ecu. Also got NATS deleted but car just cranks and solid red light comes on. I also can’t scan the ecu from the obd2 port. Do you think if I swapped back to my rev up harness the car would start?
Sorry for just seeing this. The red light is the cars theft system telling you it’s active. Now if you have your NATS deleted then you can ignore this light. If your code reader is not reading your computer look in your fuse box and check anything that has to do with the ecu. I’ve found them on cars before be blown for no reason after messing with the swaps
I kept the original harness and just changed the computer and engine. It was giving me some problems after the flash tune, my Tuner said we could work it out on the Dyno. We never got that far the engine blew up. Now it is getting an LS
So you're saying by getting a non revup motor swap get the ecu for that non revup motor and get the nats delete done on the non revup ecu to get the car working ?
Correct to make it sound easier I’ll put it this way.... if you are swapping a DE into your REVUP car, you MUST have a DE ecu installed as well (it does not have to be the one from the motor) and yes you have to get the ecu NATS flashed off that new ecu for the car to turn on
Correct you can just swap heads but don’t forget about your extra cam sensors will have nowhere to go so you’ll still need to swap to the De harness and ECU
Anytime. I have more videos coming on this I’ll drop in a couple days. Also just remember my G35 is a RevUp car so I found a full DE and put a de harness and ecu on it and the NATS flash and it drove like a dream
I did and the car worked! Unfortunately we had an emergency and had to pull the drivetrain and put it in my 350z so we could compete in a stunt event in a later video. The car is currently a shell and I’m dropping an update in the next few days
Hey man, dope video with plenty of info. Looking to swap in my 05 rev up G to non rev up. Only question is once I swap non rev up engine and ECU, wouldn't that key for the non rev up ECU work without having to get it re-flashed? Same engine, ECU and key. Thanks
Did the car work after the NATS delete? I’m having the same issue, kept the og rev up harness and ran the the it drove good under normal conditions but it goes into limp mode very often.
Yes it did and ran good with only a small issue of throttle response that my tuner said we could fix on a dyno. The car never made it to the dyno unfortunately we moved the drivetrain back to the 350z in a later video to compete in a stunt event
Why won't you just call a locksmith to get your keys reprogram for $100 to $125 don't send out your ECU for $250 to $400 that's crazy I never heard of that I never pay that for none of my cars
We’re not talking about needing a key made because you lost yours in a couch cushion. This is about changing your engine to a different model year and what you need to make it work 👌
@@DripMyWhip I built cars and change engine myself for 10 years I know what will work in won't work I never ran into a problem by changing engines only thing I did they change the harness in the computer I never had to get my computer send out to get program or nothing I have all the scan tools to do everything I want

Very informative and straight to the point!

Getting my rev up swapped rn! I’m excited af 😂
how did it go bro?
I have a g35 6mt 2005 with blown motor revup. I just pulled a 06 DE from a m35 with a AT . I want to put my 6mt in and swap it in. What do I need
Sooooo impressed with your mechanics’ knowledge!!!
amazing video! 👏🏼 what two plugs (out of the four) did you use on the back cam sensors? both black ones?
Hey all auto gs are de’s I had a 2005 auto and I thought it was a rev up but its not only 2 cam sensors
Currently doing the swap. Got the JDM DE, 2004 non rev up ECU with nats delete. Using same harness and going to follow along with this. Hope it goes good.
How is it going I’m planning on doing the same thing just trinna get more information on it
Considering doing this because I found a built twin turbo DE
Can't wait for the 2j bro, g is coming along too, good stuff

What if you change the key mobilizer two
They are both DEs one is non-revup and the other is the revup plus the 3.7 is a vhr , vq35de, vq35hr and vq37vhr
ECU out of Limp mode “ where did you learn al this”??!!!Amazing intelligence 👍🏻👍🏻
Does anyone know if I can swap in a de and keep the revup ecu, and tow it to my tuner and have him "disable" the exhaust vvt and tune it for the de?
+1 on this, what did you end up doing ?
