I have been there once before but I wasn't able to really see the inside. this was quite eye-opening and emotional at times. The views of San Francisco and the Bay are spectacular!
I passed Alcatraz/San Quentin everyday while crossing the Richmond/ San Rafael Bridge when working in Larkspur. Beautiful views looking into San Francisco. Crossed the Golden Gate occasionally from Larkspur going into San Francisco ❤❤
I think you would be really surprised at all. The changes in the cruise industry period the cutbacks are so severe and so noticeable that we're actually cutting out some cruise vacations.
We went in 92. The 30th anniversary of the closing. One of the former guards gave a talk in the band hall, telling about Alcatraz & some of his memories. Quite interesting.
Love cruising! I did a solo cruise after my husband died.I would do it again.I’m cheap,so quite happy to do a Carnival cruise, although I have done quite a few cruise lines .
Good thing I’m a law abiding citizen because I couldn’t stay locked up! I’m claustrophobic! I would so freak out! I got stuck in an elevator once & I can’t stand to be trapped now! I had to get a MRI because I have back problems. The doctor asked me was I claustrophobic. I said “No, not at all”. Well guess what? I’m very claustrophobic when you stick me in that MRI machine. I had to press the emergency button & had to go back when I could take a Valium. 😂
I really appreciate the Alcatraz tour!!! Thank you! I hope to go there some day; I hope even more so after this. If you ever (magically) get to Mansfield, Ohio, you will love a tour of Mansfield Reformatory. Shawshank Redemption and other movies were made there, but the different tours telling about the the huge, old gothic place give one the chills. “Old Smoky,” and electric chair is located there, now, too.
I am from the Bay Area and I have been to Alcatraz several times. I must say I liked your tour the best! Lol. Your stories are always so touching and I’m so glad you got sober and are trying to live your best life!
Wow Steven that was an amazing tour. I can't even imagine being locked away in a place like that. Like you said yes they were prisoner's but to suffer like that must have been extremely difficult. I understand what you were saying when you were talking about addiction. I was an alcoholic for a lot of years. I really felt lost. When i got sober September 27,2000 it really did feel like i was set free. It takes a while but your mind finally clears and you begin to see things through clear eyes. Thank you so much for taking us on this tour. ❤
Alcatraz is really interesting. I think I've been there twice but not for the last 25 years or so. I'd like to go back. I like the Oakland Airport. It's pretty easy. There used to be and may still be a man that played a piano near the baggage claim area. That was fun.
Let’s raise each other up - that is a great way to think, Steven. Have never been on a cruise. Am like you in nit being comfy on one with another person, unless they were also kinda a misfit as I have been. Ur friend,Herman
Thank you for the interesting tour of Alcatraz. I took a tour of it years ago; I was glad to get on the ferry back to the city. That Agave Trail is so neat.
Wow, the juxtaposition of the beauty of the views and the confinement of the human soul are mind blowing. I can but thank god that I have never had to face such misery. I loved the tour!
Steven check September and October usually are the more cheaper months. And I love celebrity cruises. I’m going on a week on Holland America I’ll Let you know it is.
We booked a virgin four day cruise next september. They don't have a single supplement and I feel for everything you get the price is reasonable you should go with us
I want to be 6’2 I’m stuck down here @ 5,10 But anyway Great video Steve 👍 It’s hard to imagine a point that you wouldn’t have had your shit together. 🤔 Funny Kind Humble - just a few that describes you TY
I've spent decades living in, and around gay neighborhoods. I kind of have zero interest in seeing the Castro. But, I do love being by the water, and the Embarcadero is such a nice walk. I do it often, but haven't really tired of it yet.
Hey Steve! I just looked and you can do a Celebrity X cruise with interline rate for like 700 dollars for a Oceanview room(that didn't include gratuity and any extra) but that's even with the single supplement! You should look into it. It could be even less if you did a inside cabin too
Thank you for taking us on the tour of Alcatraz. I remember as a young child standing and looking out at Alcatraz and thinking how cold and desolate it seemed...
Amazing tour, absolutely loved it! Just watched the episode on Unsolved Mysteries of the three prisoners that escaped from there. Absolutely fascinating, how they did it!
YOU GET AN ALCATRAZ 🥄! YOU GET AN ALCATRAZ 🥄! & YOU GET AN ALCATRAZ 🥄!...... 🤣 SERIOUSLY Steven, this is a fantastic tour description 👌🏻 The self guided tour is so much better than the "old school" chaos group guided tour I took decades ago✅️

Again…amazing time with you on your journeys! Thank you 😊

I am the last one to give this advice, but, Steven, you need more day time walking and less late night Starfields.
Wow! What an interesting tour. The views!! My gosh.. to be in that prison.. and never seeing any of it.
Omg... the steps and walking!!
Great layover!
Fascinating WOW
Amazing, Thanks Steven ❤
What a tour of Alcatraz, thank you, Steven❣️❣️
I can feel your joy. Fantastic video.
Steven I just came back from a Royal Caribbean cruise to Greece & Croatia. Absolutely stunning
Awesome tour, thank you
Good day! Thanks for sharing your layover in San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area. Have an amazing week. Mercì.

I still have my Dig Dash or Dive Tshirt from my visit in 1989,

You could not have asked for a better SF day to go to Alcatraz. Near seeing the landscape and fauna around the island 🏝️
That underground train under the bay, ya "try" not to think of the fact you are under water....

Can’t wait to have a layover in SFO. Never been there.😍

It would be so cool if we had a layover in SFO at the same time… we could catch up for a bite to eat ❤ x

Poor man's cruise would be to take the ferry to Sausilito and back.😊
I did that sort of by accident when I first started flying. LOL!
One of your subs just learned me that your grandmother was your support system - Well she did a magnificent Job 🙏
Yep. She was everything to me. Don't know what would have happened, had she not let me move in with her and my granpop.

Why is it that when you go to San Fransisco you go to primarily the same places and never go to The Castro district?
I've spent decades living in, and around gay neighborhoods. I kind of have zero interest in seeing the Castro. But, I do love being by the water, and the Embarcadero is such a nice walk. I do it often, but haven't really tired of it yet.
@@flightattendantstevenOk. I was just curious.

That’s an awesome rate for celebrity

So happy to see your daily videos. I remember going on Bart from Oakland to San Francisco under water in my FA days many years ago. Great memories 😂
