While I'm absolutely thrilled, we're finally getting Cawl vs. Bile, I also feel like this us step one to the Emperors Children refresh they've been hinting at since 8th edition.
Fabius Bile and The Emperor of Mankind are the greatest lovers of humanity. Prove me wrong.
the amount of abandoned storylines inside the Fabius Bile storyline is beyond a crime. there were some amazing ideas in that book series

Bile and Cawl are both major characters who are open to innovation. I can imagine them sort of collaborating and competing simultaneously. Or at least trying to steal knowledge from each other while trying to kill each other.
I bet Cawl can be remarkably persuasive getting Bile to come off his secrets. Nothing like a warp stone tipped mecadendrite drill to get to the bottom of things.
Both must surely be aware of Vashtor. And Vashtor isn't necessarily the patron of mechanical ingenuity alone, in the same sense as the mechanicus holds geneticists and biologists under it's oversight, however reluctantly. Cawl is obliged to enhance and engineer within the implicit guidelines required by an imperium that insists on proximity to terran-standard biological stock. Even the beastmen that occupy one of the lowest possible rungs in imperial society benefit from their recognition that their mutations have come about at least in part by the reemergence or engineered expression of bovine and ungulate traits. No one is thinking the wolves of Fenris are *aliens* because of their canid traits (til they get out of hand). In this context, Cawl has a few ready pathways to increased practical knowledge in general. Deep and critical study of preexisting technology with an eye to innovation, the understanding and repurposing of alien technologies once the mechanism at play is able to be expressed in the frameworks of the mechanicus, and archeotech. All of which was already going on clandestinely or otherwise within the mechanicus before he became archmagos dominus. Though, by virtue of his current title in m42 he will also be able to pursue 10,000+ years of thwarted theories and experiments abandoned in the face of previous hostile tech development orthodoxy, many of which must have been documented and destroyed or warehoused by his predecessors. That's quite a lot of avenues to head down. My point is, he's not lacking for paths of research but two serious delimiters on his aspirations are: guilliman being someone who is as old as he, who knows full well the risks from their much clearer understanding of the ravages the dark age of tech worked on humanity, and is eminently suspicious of heresy. Both Guilliman and Cawl were engaged the great crusades great technological gold rush and were both well aware of all the ways humanity had "perverted" and enslaved itself to exotic technology in an effort fit a hostile galaxy. He's got eyes on him. The second delimiting factor is a staunchly conservative mechanicus that, unlike the more honest imperial agents in their understanding of that imperium, believes itself a unified whole of cultural hegemony that *cannot* change, only reproduce prior forms - while in actual fact being a highly fractious political entity that regularly goes against its own interests and the interests of humanity as a whole. Now Fabius Bile by contrast is radically more free to pursue his own ends the longer he lives. And the more bile pulls on the thread of knowledge, while yes it's a monkeys paw situation and his reach always endangers his own welfare, wonders are produced. Not one but two viable clones of an uncorrupted primarch. An entire subspecies of astartes hunting abhumans. The preservation of his own life for 10 millenia without falling to daemon craft or defaulting to preexisting technology he himself could not direct personally. The breeding of servile and sentient wraithbone melding with and subsuming a drukhari's mind is another. The man is a genius , as evil as he may be. Cawl is brilliant, but has the advantage of unlimited resources and thousands of years of material, and the disadvantage of a shitty company to run full of people gunning for his job and a refusal to listen to new ideas. The frontier scientist Bile is the artisan to Cawl's weapons factory design department.
I think Anthony Hopkins would be great to portray Fabius Bile 😊

A bit of a long shot, but I had a fan theory where cawl in his process of creating primaris came across Arik Taranis. Taranis trying to extend his life, would exchange his knowledge of ancient genetics and science he learned from the emperor himself. If cawl combined the knowledge of creating the physically larger thunder warriors with the stable Space Marines, the result could be primaris. If we saw Tanaris again in the 41st millennia, he would be someone I'd love to see meet cawl or fabius bile
Why would Arik know any of that, he was only taught limited knowledge, he couldn't fix anything nevermind making a new space marine, why would cawl be able to do what he needed to make primaris from that? Again primaris make no sense how ever far you go to splice the geneseed. Both only had limited knowledge, again this is in the span of about 3k years, that all this happens and agian, how the heck does no one else know about this?
Not to mention how this fan theory is basically, could've happened, ANYTHING could've happened, that's why it's gar...bage writing.

With the advent of this heat dome it undermines my belief that the south/southwest needs more mechanization of the agriculture in order to provide more climate controlled work places and few necessary field hands in this outrageous heat. Southern NM is over 105 most days of the week now.

@@jarrodreaves243 no strong opinion. Game? sucks they removed alot of customization and flavor from many factions. And the balancing has been all over the place giving the impression of inadequate testing. But I do like that they added USR's back and simplified some interactions.
Lore? Idk it seems to be just more primarchs returning. Sentient Xenos factions are relegated more and more like furniture pieces to the setting rather than serious moving forces.

Hopefully it will be better than thier usual drivel. Getting real sick of magic bringing bringing “heroes” back to life, conquering armies etc etc, call me old fashioned but I prefer my books with Bolter, blade and a decent story line, sadly lacking in most modern warhammer novels

Calling it now, GW wants to get rid of the Prince of Pleasure. They're setting the ground work for it here. They already nulled it out of AOS. I'm concerned they're trying to make the setting more "palatable", and I guess having trans sex demons doesn't really contribute to that.

I love Fabius, but - HATE - Cawl.
I generally dont enjoy Guy Haley. His stories are so scatter shot of characters that go no where for so long. Dark Imperium was such a slog with some bright spots. Avenging son is the same. His name is whats holding me back from reading Cawl. Should I give great work a chance?
Honestly after reading the book i feel disapointed, i think this is jet again grim dumbnes, there are a overpowered and underpowered characters, porter(so over the top(strength) that its just dumb) is one of the worst writen character for the above mentioned reason, primus was the opposite and thats just wrong, and the ending was terrible why always lose thats becoming boring now: i write this way because i dont want to spoiler anything
