Im waiting patiently for them to ripen. As well as the others. Thank you sir.
Great video REM, that is a nice looking Esther. Great taste test. Considering getting an Esther now. Thanks for sharing!
Looks like LHN has them grafted from Brokaw. Thanks for watching!
@@AvocadoTalk Thanks for letting me know!
Congratulations on your tasting, let us know if we could order cuttings from you. Like how the fruit looks!!!
Sure, email me.
👏 Congrats 🥑 Buen Provecho 🍻
Better tasting than some other varieties but not as good as Reed or Hass. Thanks for watching!
Looks good
Good variety for the back yard.
Just bot a couple of baby Esthers...they are hard to find. Thx for the video, some sites give the harvest as August. And fruit 8 to 12 oz. Thx for the videos.
Hi Frank, next year it might be August, 15 months from now. I've seen fruit size estimates of 14-28oz which is huge. Good luck with yours and thanks for watching!
I got an Esther a few weeks ago. It's a seedling with an Esther graft. It will be quite a while before we hopefully see some fruit.
I actually bought an Esther because of your videos. The fruit looks creamy. Thanks for sharing.
@@1970SBenny Cool, good luck. It might be sooner than later for your Esther, I was surprised when mine fruited right away.
Some great characteristics on Esther as you mentioned and nice looking fruit! I’d definitely graft more on your seedlings as it’s not commonly found in most nurseries down here in SoCal.
@@jesramos35 I'll have to do a couple. Thanks for watching!
i recently got an ester. not sure to plant it in ground or 30gal cedar box
If you have the space I would plant it, the tree is a little smaller so great for a back yard. Plus it's productive. Just place a little higher above grade and you should be fine. Congrats you got one, Esther is not easy to find. Good luck and keep me updated!
6:32 The ease of removing the seedcoat is its own positive, for anyone that wants to try germinating some. It can be such a hassle to shave off a tight seedcoat.
Hello my avocado grower friend on the east coast. I commend you for growing avocados in a really cold environment! Thanks for watching and I do enjoy watching your videos too.
Hi REMGood to see Esther. Just FYI Reed has these qualities - more smooth flavor than nutty. Some grit from the peel adheres to fruit and you taste the grit but not a real issue. Looks like a great tree to add to collection after one already has Hass, Reed, Fuerte which is the unbeatable combo for year round harvests IMHO.
Hi Pat, totally agree, very similar to Reed.
i’m guessing a little watery because it didn’t ripen to its potential? other than that great looking avocado i grafted a scion back in january and it’s still green just hasn’t flushed yet 😅 hoping for the best
I guess the texture is more watery. I'm going to slowly try the remainder to see if it gets better...we'll see. Thanks for watching!
Just to add as to the ripening potential. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the fruit season on the Esther August-December? This was from some information I read up on from the UC Riverside field station online.
I'm so looking forward to my grafted seedling to hopefully mature and be fruitful.
Season is august to December so its way too early, but the flavor is not as rich as the hass, nabal x hass type hybrid
Production is consistent heavy with no alternating 2x fruit production of hass, on 2/3 size smaller tree From the patent creator whitsell.
Tree is tender hardiness same as hass
@@xrsjohnm That is why I think it could be good for a backyard. Smaller and more productive.
How old is the tree?
Not very old. I got it as a 5 gallon and planted it in the ground November of 2021. It flowered that first spring in 2022 and gave me a lot of fruit and this is the result of it. Thanks for watching!
Those avocados look nice hanging there chillin. Might have to pick up a tree.
I got mine at Louie's...you can have some scions...Thanks for watching!
@@AvocadoTalk I bought a Esther today at Laguna Hills Nursery. It’s a small Brokaw grafted tree in a liner. Thank you 🤙🏼
Can u graft Gem?
Sure, gem. What else makes sense?
Kona Sharwil
@@tommyzee526 Yeah for sure Kona. I'll probably do Jan Boyce too.
@@AvocadoTalk I would be interested in purchasing some from u
@@AvocadoTalk
What will u be grafting on to. Rootstock?
I'd prefer the Gwen its flavor is richer than hass
Gwen is excellent, I have 1 in ground but planning to put more.
I had one gwen growing in part shade that hasn't held one fruit and the tree is 4 yrs old in ground, so I bought 2 more trees and put them in full sun hope I get some Gwen fruit soon
@@xrsjohnm Sun tell the tree that it has grown high enough past the mother tree and start producing.
