Now that you're more involved with BBTS sponsorship, it's noticeable how the channel has increased its reviews of more expensive figures, which we don't usually see here. By the way, due to licensing issues, Hasbro does not allow other brands to make transformable Transformers figures, except for Takara Tomy, of course. Great review.
Yes, transformation is a major point for me. Idk, I just like them when they can transform, even though I might not even transform them often. It's weird, but I guess knowing they can transform is cool enough lol. I collect mainline anyway, not masterpiece, so they're mostly safer to transform if you so choose. The nontransformable TF usually doesn't go deep enough in character selection too, as I like to collect the whole gang and prefer a uniformed collection.
I'm surprised you actually got around to this. I actually wanted to recommend it to you, but didn't wanna just bring up an unrelated product in the comments so I'm glad to see you review it. Now I actually do have a bit more praise for it considering I actually got it 10 bucks cheaper from the official YP website, but I do understand why you stick with BBTS. I know it's got its issues, but considering I did get it for that price point, I do think it beats out a lot of its competition; certainly other Hasbro products, but that's not a very high bar lol. Also did you know there's actually a swing out joint for the shoulders? You didn't mention it in the review, so I figured I should point it out haha.
I still maintain it’s one of my favorite Prime figures, I love the ThreeZero one because it does something wholly original with a 40 year old design and poses like a champ. I love the Yolopark Prime because it’s pretty much IDW comic G1 Optimus through and through. To each their own.
You definitely missed some articulation points. The shoulders do have butterflies that give crazy forward range and there is a hinge in the waist that does give a little bit more ab crunch.
The figure is nice, although I much prefer the rise of the beasts kits over the G1 kits for 2 reasons: 1: the price point makes them kinda hard to justify especially since like you said the mdlx stuff is also around the same price point and are overall much better, plus the rise of the beasts kits are $30-$35 compared to the $60-$70 of the G1 kits. And 2: I think for $30-$35 price point I think the rise of the beasts kits are way more bang for your buck & impressive for what you’re paying.
I do wonder why there is a jump in price. One of the values of YoloPark figures is the high end look/paint at reasonable price. G1 look it more simple. I figure they would be cheaper to make than the Rise of the Beast designs?
I prefer for my transformers to transform and I already have so many Primes in my collection that getting this for robot mode alone wouldn't bug me. I feel like this looks better than MP44 prime in robot mode. I also feel like there are other options in this size and maybe slightly more expensive that look similar and transform from 3rd party companies. Great review as always. God bless you and yours. Praying for you and yours. All the best!
I'm SO excited for these! Just bought mine on Yolopark, they currently have a small discount for the AMK Pro, and both Prime and Megatron should be arriving by the end of the week. Already pre-ordered Starscream! I love that they don't transform because we get extremely cartoon accurate designs that don't have kibble or back issues #backlivesmatter
Hey Tony. I didn’t see that you brought up the communicator in his forearm. I totally missed the fact it had one so figured I would mention it just in case you didn’t see it.
MDLX is a bit better but those crotch flaps are touchy. This one is a bit more striking on the shelf. Btw, If you haven't already tried it, try spinning the light fixture in his head to line the lights and eyes up so the eyes light up brighter.
I was never a big fan of cars, even so I really liked transformers, however I almost never transformed the figures I had, if the figure transforms it's fine, if it doesn't it's also fine, when I look at a figure it ALWAYS I look at his robot mode, if the robot mode is horrible I just skip it and get a figure that looks better in robot mode, so it seems pretty good to me that now these types of figures are being produced much more compared to before
Seen a lot of comparisons with these figures and the MDLX figures and I don’t really think these hold a handle to what threezero does. Both have issues for sure but the threezero figures just feel so much more solid and with all the detail and sculpt work that goes into them, I think they are much more worth their price. I’ll pick up the recently revealed Starscream from this line as it’s my favorite character, but this isn’t a line I want to complete the same way the MDLX line is
Tbh.. I rather get the revoltech compared to this, that figure for how small it is is fucking impressive, and btw no single gap whatsoever

I got a yolopark skurge and its a great figure for a fair price ,very easy to put together . Not interested in g1 stuff and dont really collect transformers but i liked how skurge looked . If they gave us a optimus primal in beast form i would buy that .
I’d love an answer from Yolopark on that weird screwed together stand. It looks like it was designed to stick together via pegs and holes but the screws are weird..
id guess that the thinking behind the setup of the stand is to display prime in his airbourne/firing downwards at the decepticons, from the movie, position. also, ive seen another review for this figure, and the light-up eyes looked great, far better and brighter than than seen here.
Not sure what happened with the eyes on yours. It’s definitely a bit fiddley, so make sure everything is tightly in place, but mine are easily seen in broad daylight. Might want to get in there and mess with that battery compartment a bit more.
I have only two Transformers and it's the "Furai models Optimus" and another green one i can't for the love of my life remember the name on right now. Really love Optimus by them and i want a Megatron also (all from Furai models). I really like the articulation on their models and i like building it my self also. So to answer your question, i don't care if it can transform, i like robots and not trucks :P Love your videos mate! Love from Sweden
Bro actually did it. Edit from finishing the video. I want to really like the figure but the differing qc through the figure and wobbling parts really hurts it for me. I think Megatron is definitely the better between the 2. Feels very simple but that simplicity works. I’m also wondering if Anthony installed his lights the wrong way. The lights in the head look brighter on my copy. I even have a pic where the lights kinda looked too bright and made it look fuzzy.
I recently got this guy too. I also have trouble opening the chest. I think it has to do with how the tabs overlap. They seem to lock in place in a way that prevents the doors from swinging forward.
IMO the best non transformers optimus prime out there is the furai model G1 prime as it has a slew of accessories with everything you could want poses up a storm and looks amazing plus has chest opening matrix gimmik which is awesome and my personal favorite prime that doesn't transform
MDLX Optimus is $100 on BBTS and this is $70. That's sort of the same price range, but not really. The eyes on your copy might be defective or the battery's dying (mine's really bright). As a G1 Optimus Prime non-transformable action figure, this is probably the best (MDLX is not truly G1 as Threezero did their own artistic take on the design).
@@AnthonysCustoms just the way you said/phrased that statement was funny to me(was very cave man esque') sir, not any slight or attack on your intellect...some times text really does not convey the intent of humor. Keep up the great reviews Anthony
I want transformers that do transform as I'll flip em from time to time just messing around. BUT i dont mind companies making figs that don't transform.
If the Transformers transform, it s a bonus. I would buy non-transforming figure, but it does take a lot more work to engineer the transforming. So, I do want to the extra effort. But I hate how the recent Hasbro Transformers look - the boxy/square arms and legs and the unpainted grey plastic. They look so disgusting, and that is why ThreeZero and YoloPark paint look so great in comparison. ThreeZero and YoloPark are both good companies. Their paint jobs are both very good -especially the battle damaged chipped paint. ThreeZero is a little different since they are stylized designs. They are a bit more expensive, but I do think they are slightly better than Yolopark . But Yolopark is fairly priced for what you get, especially since they are properly licensed by Hasbro, rather then being third party bootlegs. For this one, I like the legs - the blue boxy legs. They work for me even if they are simple. I thought Anthony would have more issue since the diecast figure is more plastic than diecast. Will get this eventually.
I'd love for you to review MS-02 Light of Peace (third-party Optimus). I know it's not really the type of thing you usually review, but I think it looks pretty good in both modes for a transformable transformers figure. Would be interesting to know what you think about it as well since you seem to prefer non-transformable figures. I know there's a few versions of that specific figure, though I don't know which is better.
From what I’ve seen for that figure, the EX version is the best one so far. EX basically meaning it has a nicer paint job than the regular version. Also the plastic itself is better on the EX version according to some reviews on it.
What's the best G1 optimus prime action figure for you Anthony?? My favorite is Hasbro earthrise one. Like the Yolo Megatron the best for Megatron though :)
Hey Anthony, I know you don’t do many transformers reviews but have you considered talking a look at some of the recent legacy beast wars stuff. Releases like trans metal 2 megatron, inferno, silverbolt, and tiger hawk have all been super solid releases.
This is okay for what it is but Hasbro's releasing the Studio Series G1 Optimus this year I think and that looks to be the definitive (transforming) OP not counting the Masterpieces
I never brought any transformers that can transform lol, not from Hasbro anyway. I got this, MDLX, and flametoys. Even got a bingotoy windgirl but I never bother to transform her once.
i prefer transformers that dont transform. 100% focus on the robot mode, which is the only way id display them anyway, ensures no sacrifices have to be made to accommodate vehicle mode, and the figure can be as accurate as possible.
I don’t know why you would compare this to a mdlx when they are clearly two different designs. People are saying this is the best Optimus because it’s probably the best you can translate iconic g1 Optimus to an articulated figure. Obviously if you change the design you can do other things but that’s not what most people want.
@@AnthonysCustoms other then the plastic quality and looseness of the joints everything else is just personal design preference so all I’m saying is of course people are going to prefer the iconic design over altered design of the mdlx.
