    A bit of warning. If you use the red locktight those sights are on to stay. I destroyed a rear sight getting it off. The rep at XS said the front sight was designed to be twisted off, thus destroying the sight. Blue works for me. If you change sights often be warned.

      They do, though why someone would put a suppressor on a G43 is another question.

    One thing that you failed to mention is the photo-luminescence of the ring around the tritium vial of the front sight. Hit it for a couple of seconds with an LED flashlight and it glows HUGE and very Brightly for quite a while. When moving from a lighted place into a darker place, the same effect takes place to a lesser degree, allowing you to see the sights BEFORE your eyes adjust enough to see the tritium vial. This makes them superior to other tritium powered night sights in my opinion. And then, there's the speed at which you eyes tend to align the large front sight in the large rear notch. Very intuitive and fast for me. I like the original Big Dot sights and have used them for many year (since they were called Ashley Express Sights), but think that these are the next evolution in design and work better for a larger range of conditions, offering the speed of the Big Dot with the precision of a more traditional notch/post sighting system. They have become my go-to sights on all new defensive guns. Love your reviews, BTW.

    I would prefer the front sight to be a little narrower in relation to the rear. Seems way to wide.

    I put some Ameriglo Pro I Dot sights on my 43, they added .155 to the height. I think they needed some extra steel on the rear sight to install the tritium vial and had to make the front sight taller to keep the sights in-line with the bore.

    The MGW sight pusher for Glocks has an optional adapter plate for 42/43 slides. Also, some rear sights require a bit of hand fitting to install even when using a sight pusher... The sight should go on without a tremendous amount of force. You can actually break the dovetail if you aren't careful ;-)

    The cheap vism ( I think) by NC star sight tool is great. I know that the words ncstar and great don't usually appear in the same sentence but there it is. I think its like $45. And I've used it several times with great success.

    Yes, a sight-pro would make a difference. It has two pushers to go against the sight, a flat side pusher and a 30 degree side pusher. You would've used the 30 degree side pusher to remove the Glock sights and install the F8 sights. During holidays, you might want to check Brownells for them to be on-sale for 279.00 or 289.00. They are now 429.00, I believe. The MGW Sight-Pro with 30-degree pusher included, is how i got it. You being a regular youtube channel, might be able to call Maryland Gun Works in Augusta, Georgia and get a discount anyway. They started out in Maryland and moved to Georgia. I know, I was confused when looking for them because i was hoping to pick them up in a local store, living in Maryland, only to find that they did move to Georgia.....PSYCHE!!! They have gun-brand specific pushers and the sight-pro that has adapters for different brands. I would call to make sure they make, and have, the adapters for whatever guns you want to use it on. Its also pretty heavy duty, so you wont break it.

      Did you try them both out? I have Big dots now and I'm curious about these F8s. Any details?

    • @michaelc3416
      @michaelc3416 5 років тому +2

      @@user-pv9pv4xf9c I have both and disagree with Highlander. I like them both for what they offer, but prefer the F8 hands down. I've been using Big Dots since they were called Ashley Express sights, if that tells you anything. The Big Dot are quick on target but, for me, lack any sort of precision. I find myself spending extra time trying to get the Big Dot aligned with the rear, whereas the F8 front seems to "self align" quicker for my eyes. In addition, the F8s offer a more traditional sight picture, although much larger and more generous. So, for my eyes at least, allow for more precise shots at longer ranges than the Big Dots. I have Big Dots on two pistols. I put a set of F8s on a G19 when they first came out. I've been trying to decide which to put on my G43, and have decided to go with the F8 sights over the Big Dots. Both are good, no doubt. But, I give the nod to the F8 for all around performance and speed.

    • @user-pv9pv4xf9c
      @user-pv9pv4xf9c 5 років тому

      @@michaelc3416 thank you for your input, man, I really appreciate it. Do you think the height of the F8s could potentially cause any snagging on your clothes?

    • @michaelc3416
      @michaelc3416 5 років тому +1

      @@user-pv9pv4xf9c I suppose that any sights at all could potentially snag. That's the rational for a lot of guns designed for pocket carry having minuscule almost useless sights. In this case I'd say it depends on your carry method and draw technique. I wouldn't recommend the F8s on a pistol that will pocket carried. I have pocket guns with small sights, but the guns I use the F8s on are carried AIWB and I don't have any issues. For me a sight's purpose is to aid in fast acquisition, be quick to reacquire during multiple shots, and allow accurate shots to be placed at typical combat ranges. I believe that larger sights help my eyes do those things. That's the idea behind the Big Dots... that big ol' "golf ball" is quick to see. And the ring on the F8 is almost as large at that on the Big Dot.
      And just to clarify, I didn't mean to imply that Highlander is wrong. Everyone's eyes work a little differently. For me, that big front sight and big round hi-viz color ring just falls right into that big rear notch faster than I could "dot the I" with the Big Dots. And I find it gives a more repeatable elevation reference due to the more conventional sight picture. I also feel that they allow for more accuracy at longer ranges. As I said, I have used Big Dots for a long time, and still have them on two pistols. I won't replace them until the tritium goes dead. But, for a new defensive pistol that needs new sights, I'll choose F8s. Of course, as with most things in handguns, sights are a compromise. So, it just depends on the individual's needs and preferences. I don't think there is a "wrong" answer when choosing between either style of XS sights.
      One other possible advantage to the F8 is that the rear sight is VERY good at doing one handed slide manipulations, if you care about such things.

    • @user-pv9pv4xf9c
      @user-pv9pv4xf9c 5 років тому

      @@michaelc3416 I really appreciate your insight. Since I already have the Big dots on two of my pistols also, I'll stick with them for a bit, but maybe in a couple months I'll try out the F8s.
      I have been trying to get better with the Big dots, and in a lot of ways I do like them, but like you said, judging the height elevation for distance is a bit tricky.
      I do like that I can see the big dot sights without my glasses on, but like you were just explaining, I might be able to see the F8s as well.
      Do you have the orange or yellow, and do you recommend one over the other?

    I like XS Big Dot sights. I had them on my Shield. For me, best configuration was stock rear sights with Big Dot on front. This gave me quick acquisition with more precision.
    Sadly, XS doesn't make sights for either of my current carry pistols. These days I'm carrying mostly a Berretta PX4 Compact or a Taurus TH9c. They make a sight for PX4 full & sub compact but not the Compact. It's a shame as I'd get them for both guns. I think they make sights for the G2c but not TH9c. Had to go with Ameriglo & Trijicon for my Berettas. Still looking for the Taurus.

    It looks though the "light" on each side is just too wide to center properly???? XS makes pretty good stuff. I installed thier big dots on my Shield when I got it years ago. They have held up good. Tritium is still bright, but rear sight wants to rust if I don't keep it lightly oiled.
    Don't have to worry about that anymore since the P365 with XRay sights has replaced my Shield. Also my Sig P320s all have the Sig NightLite sights, so no sight replacement for me anytime soon.
