  • This video is about our experience moving to Saudi Arabia - arrival in Riyadh and move to an apartment (long-term accommodation). It serves as a reference for those who are thinking and planning to relocate to Saudi Arabia. Saudi used to be one of the hardest countries to visit in the world. Therefore, people do not know much about it, especially the changes in recent years in accordance with Vision 2030 of the country.
    My husband and I moved from Sydney, Australia to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at the end of 2019. As of now, we have been in Saudi Arabia for 5 months (Dec 2019 to Apr 2020). I hope this sharing could be helpful to anyone unfamiliar with Saudi Arabia.
    This Part 2 is about:
    0:00 recap of the previous video (intro to the Middle East and Saudi Arabia)
    0:10 arrival
    0:21 currency exchange
    0:44 mobile SIM card
    1:03 bank
    1:38 weather
    2:08 getting around / transportation
    2:45 Islamic prayer times
    3:00 weekend
    3:14 Arabic numbers
    3:22 accommodation inspection
    4:01 moved into our own place
    4:21 home setup
    4:43 grocery shopping
    5:23 drinking water

    5:45 for water, I actually use a filter jug to make the tab water drinkable, and I change the filter from time to time, I got it from Amazon UK, but not sure if they sell it here or not

    hi, thanks for a comprehensive information. Could you give any figure about how much the accomodation and the main expenses for a month?

    • @Haanism
      @Haanism  4 місяці тому

      this depends on requirements and standards. just like staying in a hotel, there are 1 to 5 stars. the price difference is huge. it's best to check online for the specific type you want.

      Hi, thanks for sharing information. can you please suggest which residential area is best to get located near to Center Point, King Fahd Highway. ( as my office will be there). in the budget of 40000-50K SAR. or do you suggest a flat or compound.( if any compound near by)

    • @Haanism
      @Haanism  3 роки тому

      @@axispradeep hi, flat or compound depends on your preference/need. i guess people with a family and kids usually prefer compound. here you pay rent by quarter (each payment is for a quarter of half a year), plus a security deposit. usually, your employer will provide a list of accommodation of choice for you (an expat) to choose from. If they don't, maybe ask them?
      Here are several compounds which you may want to consider (check out their websites): Al Bustan Village, Al Ghadeer Compound, Al Hamra Oasis Village, Al Malga Village, Al Nakhla, Al Reem, Al Hamra, Oasis Village, Arizona Golf Resort, California Resort, Cordoba Oasis Village, Wadi Qortuba and Yamami Residence
      You should always inspect the place and make sure you like it :)
