    There hasn't been some good ole truck match ups on the channel lately, so put together a couple of fun pulls with a Ford Powerstroke 6.7L with tune and delete, and another '06 gen Silverado with 5.3L, cam, stall, headers and supposedly no nitrous, but never heard a pure NA setup "lean pop", so we'll call it a small shot.
    Camera truck is 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 6.2L crew cab 4x4 with 6" Pro Comp lift and 35" NItto Trail Graps. Stock performance wise.

    I love it when people take a gen 5 truck and try to pick on a gen3. Thats like comparing a c8 to the c5.... so with your direct injection, tune, higher compression, probably e85 Id say the old 295 base hp gen 3 truck held his nuts high. I have both and they are great but its the best kicking peoples asses in my 20 year old 1 owner gen 3.

    Too many people confusing the 6.2, LS based (L89) truck engine (2009-2013) and the LT based 6.2 (2014-current). I've had both and loved them both. on my 2010, at 130,000 miles, i did a cam, heads, headers and CAI and was only a couple hundredths faster than my current, bone stock RST 6.2. The 2020 runs just a tick under 14, bone stock with 22" wheels and 3.42 gear.

      +Super Mario These new chevy's have "torque management" that limits wheelspin. It works very well actually. Turn traction control off on dry pavement and floor it in 2wd with little to no brake boosting, you will get some wheelspin but the truck will sort it out. This seems to be the fastest way to get a stock tuned 6.2L truck down the 1/4.

      It is built of the new LT1 with a few minor changes, runs 400rpm less at redline and produces 420/460 as opposed to 460/460. It also produces it's torque lower in the curve for truck purposes. I just traded in my '10 5.3L, in love so far and increased fuel mileage over my old 325 LC9. Same block I would assume as the LS? GM says only a handful of parts transferred over from the outgoing LS to the incoming LT's, whether that holds water or not I am not sure, perhaps a GM engineer can chime in here.

    Good for you for buying the 6.2L. Too damned many out there buying the 5.3L and wanting to modify it when the 6.2L is available already. It does require a high level trim package, but it makes big power stock. Too many trying to call it a Corvette motor though. It isn't any more a Corvette engine than the 350 in a truck was a Corvette engine because the Corvette had 350's. The 6.2L has been available in the trucks for quite some time and is it's own truck specific engine. The parts may interchange, but they are not the same parts as used in the Corvette. It is however the baddest engine GM has ever put into a truck by far especially in the torque department. The 8.1L in it's best years was 455 ftlbs of torque, 5 less than this 6.2L. With some mild mods these are poking into the 12's N/A. A set of 4.10's would really be of help I would imagine due to the tire size, but congrats on an awesome truck none the less.

    • @EGGINFOOLS
      @EGGINFOOLS 9 років тому

      Michael King I hear ya. The 2014+ 5.3's are impressive just as much by just putting e85 in the tank and nothing else. 380hp and 416ftlbs (crank numbers from the dyno run) is what lingenfelter achieved and that was with 65% ethanol in the fuel as indicated by the alcohol readings the truck gave. In a regular cab with e85 these truck move. I could be wrong but the 2014 6.2 isn't flexfuel compatible.

    cool truck but thats a swap engine 6.2 vortec into the Silverado i havent heard of a 6.2 exsisting on that version of a truck unless it was the newer body from 2007. plus if you know hemi 6.1 would be shit fast as the 6.2 vortec. some guy had a video on here on youtube that did the swap dam that shit was so dam fast but i think he delete his vid or something idk but the 6.1 hemi make 430hp lol but cool vid of that silverado 6.2 a pretty dam strong ass engine lol

      The first Yukon Denali and Escalades had the 5.7-350 Vortec. Then from 2001-2006 the Denali/Escalade had the 6.0 Vortec. After 2007 is when they put the 6.2 in the Denali/Escalade.
      They were all the same exact trucks, minus the fact the Escalade had a little more horsepower.

    There's no way a "stock 6.2" is even hanging with a cam/longtube/stall/nitrous 5.3 let alone beating it, that 5.3 wasn't spraying then. Also the "lean pop" could easily happen on an NA car with a bad tune, I see it a lot actually. Back to the 5.3/6.2 comparo, a 5.3 with just headers and tune will put up better ETs than a stock 6.2, so add a stall and supposedly some spray and that 5.3 would walk all over a "stock" 6.2 lol. Hell a 5.3 bolt on Silverado will hang with a bolt on TBSS all day long, the 5.3 is a good platform. My work truck is a 5.3 SCSB and it went 12.90s with just intake/longtubes/cam/tune. Show me a stock or even a bolt on 6.2 truck running high 12's lol.

    • @guy6751
      @guy6751 7 років тому

      Joe Doole 6.2 Is just a larger 5.3, it's still a ls. I get what you're saying that the displacement difference isnt that huge but 6.2's we're heavily detuned from the factory in trucks, they produce almost 500hp in the performance varient.

    • @joedoole3527
      @joedoole3527 7 років тому +1

      The performance variant isn't a stock 6.2 lol. It's running different heads, a different cam, a different intake and a more aggressive tune then the stock truck 6.2. Not arguing that they are heavily detuned, all Chevy L's engines are detuned from the factory and have torque management software built into the ECU. This is done to limit warranty repairs because Chevy knows the power their engines CAN make and also knows that the rest of the stock drivetrain won't support the abuse that type of power lends itself too. What I'm saying is there is no way no how that a Stock 6.2 is going to be faster then a bolt on and tune 5.3. The 5.3 with headers, intake, and a good tune will make as much if not more power at the wheels then a stock 6.2, and the 5.3 is available in lighter vehicles then the 6.2. I'm not saying a 5.3 will make more power then a 6.2 in general, but saying a stock 6.2 can do it is just not accurate.

    • @matthewgreen8335
      @matthewgreen8335 6 років тому

      Plus the cam on the 5.3 dont kick in until 1500 rpm so the 6.2 is gonna have more jump

    • @dylannnnn1918
      @dylannnnn1918 5 років тому

      Joe Doole 295 hp stock in the 06 5.3. 420hp in the 6.2. Do the math. A tune and headers will not add more than 25-30 hp so?? Of course you have to factor in weight and aerodynamics and traction. But still

    • @robbiejangles
      @robbiejangles 5 років тому

      @@matthewgreen8335 the 5.3 has a stall tho. So even if it doesn't kick in until 1500 RPM his stall will compensate for it.

      James Avery How? It's like 325ci, that's not exactly small. A 5.3 makes makes over 300hp and ft lb so It's plenty sufficient for a 1/2 ton. A stock 5.3 (or 4.8) Is capable of reliably producing 1000+hp.

    • @jamesavery6671
      @jamesavery6671 7 років тому

      For a truck its on the small side is what i mean. It's capable of a lot of power boosted sure..... and I will keep mine in my truck for now and upgrade it. It's just a bigger engine will make more torque and not have to be as radical as a smaller one.

      lone .crusaider It's true though, the Ram with the Cummins in by far the slowest diesel truck stock. They are like I said, big heavy brutes. The lighter GM trucks with thier duramax engines are the fastest stock. The 6.7 Powerstroke is quite a bit faster than a stock 6.7 Ram as well.

      Kevin Diepenbrock That truck was pre '07 5.3L Probably an LM7 or L59 5.3L they were rated around 270 -295hp at the flywheel. If it is a mild cam and he didn't spray (like the owner said he didn't) he may only be making 370ish hp. And this is a Gen V L86 6.2L in this truck. 420hp, 460lb-ft.
