I'd really like to sit down and talk to Steve earl. Talk about song writing, and melodys, also about the way things are today. Steve is one of the best song writers of today. Still. He's great.
Steve getting anxious to play the Allman tune spoke so much to his reverence of those that came before him. Real deal there. Lucky to have had him grace us.
It is SO great to hear someone from TRUE country music that is not totally right wing AND that they question authority and the "accepted" norms of today. If there is such a thing as "norms".
The Hippies are the authority today arent they. Governers, mayors, senators...We are completely censored thanks to them. God forbid we speak up anymore or be chastized, and put into a category. Couldnt even have a christmas tree at work as we might offend. Isnt it all ironic. Deceased in our streets, homeless, opioid fed...Now take our flag, our guns and step on our bible. But hey, Peace ✌ Brother.
@@Veritch-Electric Nobody is keeping you from freedom of speech or living your life by the bible if that's what you choose. Just don't use a bible to make laws, as many don't have the same beliefs as you, and don't use the flag of "Free Speech" to spread lies, misinformation and fabricated "facts" that are discovered during internet research. @Veritch-Electric - I wouldn't call them hippies. Hippies don't sell themselves to the highest bidder/ lobby themselves to the corporations that'll bank roll their agenda. You're conflating democrats with hippies, which isn't entirely accurate. People, at least I'd like to believe, are capable of forming their own ideas and views as opposed to adhering to the bi-partisan bullshit of US politics. Truly, peace and love is the way.
He plays Fred Kelly Bumblebee thumb picks. They're essentially a flat pick attached to a thumb band which allows more flexibility than a traditional. I use them and you can't beat em, especially if you're a thumb & finger picker like me and always had an issue holding onto flat picks.
what yr,. was this.....?? he still nail's a lot of his ol songs stillllllllll what a real interresting real guy ton's of awesome real life stories of him on the rd,. * on tour's & closer to home in tenn.,.....
These young little chickies sitting there have no idea. They're just itching to check their Instagram without the appreciation for greatness in the room an amazing songwriter. I don't think people give George S enough credit, he's always trying to ask the best questions and bring out the best in his guests.
If you watch House of Strombo you'll see Gordon Lightfoot sittin' on the floor. I first noticed him in the John Prine House of Strombo. In that video John Prine called him out because of the number of concerts they did together in the olden days
Okay I get it you don't have to drop names. I also heard the Steve would never ever ever play Copperhead Road again because he's played it too many times he wouldn't even sing it in the shower but I guess I was wrong thanks George for letting us into your home
" I learned a thing or two from Charlie don't u know better stay away from copperhead road".... Steve is so right on that Shavian quote...it was bullshit fan singing along like the Deadhead at Winterland in the Grateful Dead movie
Just looked up college enrollment statistics...not sure what statistic Steve is looking at. He is one of the greatest singer/song writers of all time however.
Right...the government wants everyone to go to college for cheap so they can teach us about white privilege and systemic racism. Shame though, I agree. The man has a knack for reaching the common soul with his songs.
Nobody to hide behind when you do a solo acoustic gig. I do a couple of Steve’s songs in my act. On a biker bar circuit. This metrosexual crowd is a pushover. Play for the biker crowd and you gotta be able to back this shit up!
I have the chords, (I think), He has a capo, unfortunately, I can't find mine. Without the capo, the chords I have are E, A, D or D minor?? Will have to try to play it again. It has been a while since I have tried, so not sure of all of the chord changes. Think I might know, but maybe not. Think I might know the chords to Michelangelo, but do not feel comfortable sharing them. Would like to figure out Midnight rider. Gong to work on that one, sometime. Let me know what you think, without the capo.
Yes they are on there. Try to figure out on my own before I look. (The hard way, I guess, feel like maybe I'm learning more if I don't look.) The site has been around for a very long time. Remember the Steve Earle Fans website in about 2004 ran by a girl named Debbie. Good site, but some jerks got on it and messed it up for her. He does have a songbook out too. Have that one, but again, try not to look, though probably need to. Good info on the website the site above. Thanks for making people aware.
#thestromboshow, i had to watch two adds to watch this video, yet 32 seconds into the first song another add. U are worse, the worst, compared to those you ised to call sell outs back on much music in 95
I am happy to listen to your music, which is good, always has been, but I do not credit you with having a brain to teach me anything, particularly about political thought or reason. Being able to sing does not qualify you as anything but a singer - don't forget that.
Being an American citizen, more importantly, an informed American citizen gives him EVERY right to have a political opinion and express it. You don't have to like it or agree with, but you most certainly don't have the right to demand censure because of his occupation. That's fascism my friend, and that's unacceptable.
Copperhead Road right off the bat. Can't beat that with a stick.
Bravo!! And good to see Gordon Lightfoot in the audience, too.🌹💕🙏
Gord parties more than us!
Sadly he looks dead there

I love Steve so much. His writing, his conscience, his intellect.
He is truly "THE DUKE of EARLE". Great lyrics and a whole lot of soul.
Steve is cool. Great songwriter. I've seen him live a few times with the Dukes and Duchesses / Mastersons . Love his music and his intellect.
