beautiful... you can sure scoot from one side of the county to the other in a hurry, amazing the amount of road your gal can lay down in the blink of an eye!
I rescued a standardbred. I'm a novice rider but I ride her. I had a trainer train her. As long as you lean way back, heels down and hold their head up! Fantastic animals! My girl is mellow. We are still learning together.
Love to hear back from you, I have a Morgan pacer who is a "rescue", she has that beautiful high-stepping trot. I use a hackamore, the bit just did not work, and she does beautifully.
I've riden a horse kinda like that but she was a speed racker and its really fun. (She did it by her self i didnt even know she racked untill i asked her to gallop and got a big suprize lol.)
I beg to differ. I think that a pacing gait is natural. If you take two standardbred off the track (a mare and a stallion), breed them and raise their baby, unless you train them to rack or do otherwise, they will pace naturally. My family started out with standardbred that were once off the track pacers, and now like 20 years later the off spring still pace naturally.
I had a mare who's extended trot was a pace and it was so awful to ride. she was only 14.1 - 14.2 hands high and your body would rock back and forth as she paced.... I only recently realized that was what she was doing after watching pacers race.
The ground sounds hard. Do you think it might be hurting her feet? I'm not sure, but I've heard trotting on hard surfaces--especially with shoes--can harm their joints.
parelli has a man who studied under him. it teaches you how to teach a gaited horse to canter. it worked very well for my stb. the mans name slips my mind, but im sure i fyou looked up parelli and searched 'teaching a gaited horse to canter' or something along those lines you'd be able to find it.
I don't think this horse is pacing because if a horse is pacing it can't runs curves, just straight lines. When they try to walk curves while pacing they would fall over on their side of their body. The way the legs are moving are: the right front leg/the right back leg are moving in the same time and the left front leg/the left back leg are moving in the same time. So when a horse is trying to pace a curve they would dump over or fall in gallop or tölt (when the horse is able to tölt). So I think this was just a stiff tölt. That's why you are hopping on the horse because it can't let you sit probably cause it's very stiff.
sweet Berry ....a horse can pace curves...havent you ever been to a horse show where SPEED PACING is a listed class...A horse can pace so fast they appear to be floating. BTW....The showrings are usually shaped oblong meaning... there are 2 curves. Check out vids of SPEED PACING CLASSES...
So this is a horse that was bred and trained to pace. Pacing is a lateral 2 beat gait( front right/back right, front left/back left) and is usually seen in standardbreds. Pacing replaces, usually, the trot and sometimes the canter. So it depends. Do you want a horse who paces? Or do you like the smoother trot and canter?
I have a question. I'm new to the horse thing. I have a trotter and I would like to get him in a smoother gait.I tried chains already. Will hobbles help. Do you put them on the front or the back.
Legend of the Blue Macerator the standardbred I owned as a kid was an ex-sulky racer and his pace took some getting used to before it was actually comfortable, but maybe it’s because he was just a bouncy boy.
All you have to do is look at the rider's head and shoulders to see if the horse is smooth...This poor woman is getting jarred to death.. Most TWH horses you see at the BIG SHOWS that are PADDED UP and HAVE CHAINS on are pacing horses. They keep adding the weight to the shoes and the chains, to give them the "BIG LICK". A "natural gaited horse" doesn't suit those big time show people. It's cruel the way they weigh those horses down with weight and chains.
whether your poor horse has shoe's or not. It's totally irrelevant to the speed you are riding him over the stone's. You obviously treat your poor horse's a he'll of alot different to what we do in Australia. Over here that is classed as cruelty. Poor horse 😪 You seriously have NOOO f.....@ idea.
It's actually very comfortable, my Morgan mare does a road gait which is exactly like the pace. I love it .. it's fast and very smooth..
@Woodchipper Worshipper shoot, i gaited a QH stallion and showed him that way!
What beauty of a pure horse to walk there is no trot
beautiful... you can sure scoot from one side of the county to the other in a hurry, amazing the amount of road your gal can lay down in the blink of an eye!

It's a natural gait for gaited horses.

canter isnt an actuall natural gait. it was bred into equines. the canter is a man made gait
Are these fun to ride as opposed to a quarter horse?

this horse never was raced. i owned her at one time. she's tatooed but she never was raced.
Çok güzel yürüyor
I don't like this,i would rather gallop than keep holding n preventing the horse from doing what I love most
Trotting/pacing are most tiring pace. keep it up and really fast like this!
Get you a quarter horse because if you gallop a gated horse you will ruin him
Wow, that's so cool, but it looks kind of bouncy and painful to me XD
They are usually used for sulky or buggie racing. Not always though.

Why the horse is running like a dog😂😂
That wouldn't be too good for her poor feet? Poor baby...
