  • Hi Trainers! I tested Blastoise for a while yesterday while working on its in-depth guide and I felt that because Blastoise has so many hidden stats and mechanics, it should be a separate video! This is a Pokemon Unite Blastoise guide for its moves. I hope this helps!

    • @mattc16
      @mattc16 2 роки тому +4

      @@nicklasupachak2706 Everyone already goes for the most OP Pokémon. Hiding game mechanics doesn’t change that. And it’s not more rewarding either. Nobody has to main a Pokémon to learn these. All they have to do is watch a UA-cam video or play with it in practice mode. It’s bad game design. Similar to how they don’t specify any of the base stats, how much those stats increase per level/evolve, and don’t mention what type of damage any of the champions abilities/attacks do yet provide items that increase these hidden stats. Curious how many players have leveled up items and used all of their currency only to find out later that the item doesn’t even work for their main. This is a MOBA, an extremely competitive genre, and the developers have had the advantage of being able to look at years of other MOBA games development to see what is expected of it, what works, and what hasn’t worked (it’s also owned by the same company that owns Riot Games who develops League of Legends). The game is fun and has a lot of potential, but the developers have made a lot of questionable design decisions (like making it pay to win along with what I mentioned above and loads of other things). I just hope they fix these glaring issues, improve the game, and cater not only towards the casual community but also the competitive side as well.

    It really is amazing to consider how many options Blastoise has and how diverse the moveset it has. You can definitely have two vastly different Blastoises square off and see a range of “damage oriented” and “defense heavy” between them.

      Nah if you hit them at a middle distance it doesn't take them out to the outer-most edge of the move as you can see in her demonstration. Looks like there is a large knock back in close proximity... then at some point it switches to the short knock back.

    Some possible hidden mechanics (that would be difficult to test) based on how the main game moves work: skull bash might give damage reduction and water spout might deal damage relative to how much health you currently have.

  • @epiccobra1080
    @epiccobra1080 2 роки тому

    Hi SuperTeeds. Thanks for the video! It's great to see all the hidden mechanics behind the moves.
    A couple things I noticed in the video about Rapid Spin:
    - While Rapid Spin is being used without any extra moves (7:42) the hinderance timer went up at the very end of Rapid Spin. Does Rapid Spin slow enemies when you end the move?
    - Right after this (7:47) it looks like the same happens when you enter Rapid Spin. Moreover, it seems like all basic attacks slow, as they add to the hinderance timer, not just boosted attacks.
    - This does seem to confirm that using Water Spout while using Rapid Spin will slow the opponent. The hinderance timer starts (10:55) before any basic attacks hit the target dummy.
    Or perhaps the hinderance timer is bugged somehow... Not really sure. To my knowledge though, the hinderance timer only counts when the enemy's movement is impaired, like slows, stuns, or throws, so it probably isn't some other type of debuff.

    nice vid. few other things worth mentioning 1) rapid spin + spout actually increases your movement speed for the duration of the move (similar to wiggly sing). super useful for escaping, chasing or rushing goals 2) you can use eject button while in rapid spin 3) need to end rapid spin before using ult 4) if you have advanced settings on, need to use A to combine spin + spout + auto atk. if you use B for auto atk (for example while farming) you will automatically cancel the water spout mid move and be very sad

    great video!!!! i just copied the hidden parts down so i can reference them later, let me know if somethings wrong here :)
    1. boosted attacks reduce the cool down of your moves by around one second (you don’t actually have to hit anything!). boosted attacks also decrease their movement speed.
    2. water gun - the range of how far they are knocked back depends on the range you use it on the enemy pokemon (if you use it up close, it’s pushed back a lot, if you use it from far away, it’s only pushed a little)
    3. skull bash - can damage and stun multiple enemies, has a wind-up time (not instant)
    4. surf - the range is longer than the indicator of the move (but it doesn’t do damage past the range, just push). you can tilt your joystick to pick the direction that you’ll jump after the surf.
    5. hydro pump - same mechanic as water gun, pushes depends on your range
    6. rapid spin - you are unstoppable during the move. you can use your basic attacks during it. you can activate the move again to cancel it early. rapid spin resets the cool down for hydro pump or water spout. you can water spout during the spin by *HOLDING* down the button. rapid spin and water spout decreases movement speed. you can also use your basic attacks during this rapid spin+water spout combo. rapid spin and water spout does more damage than rapid spin and hydro pump, but rapid spin+hydro pump knocks back enemies.
    build: score shield, buddy barrier, focus band. you can try out muscle band if you want.

      Yeah, there are actually quite a few hidden mechanics throughout the game. Lucario having an AoE auto when used with ESpeed, Venusaur's Giga Drain cooldown getting reduced by Petal Dance, Gengar's Hex/Lick giving you a boosted auto attack after use, some moves being able to crit while other don't such as Machamp's Cross Chop and all of Crustle's moves, etc etc. They've also removed a few hidden mechanics and wrote them off as "bug fixes", such as Ninetails' passive Snow Warning having increased frequency during Auroura Veil, and Cinderace getting increased movement speed when holding a boosted auto. There's so little transparency in this game, it's kinda dumb lol

    One thing to note is that surf will in fact go beyond its move indicator, but the opponents will only be thrown if they are hit by the end of the wave: the indicator is there to show the range limit where surf does damage :) Another hidden mechanic is that hydro pump does more damage if you're closer to the opponent (it is something around 50% more damage when really close together)
    Besides that, while using the secondary skill during a rapid spin, blastoise is going to move a bit faster (thus, since water spout will be on for some time while holding down its button, it is awesome to use it for engaging or running away from enemies).

    I feel the recommended moveset would be Surf + Hydro Pump as that seems to more consistently fulfill the support/tank role.

      I was playing around with it yesterday and I tend to agree, though water-spout/spin isn't terrible at zoning since folks that hang around in it don't last long in the team fight... and its great for quickly clearing the bee camps. I'm pretty sure, but I could be corrected... the real advanced power behind unite moves like blastoise's... is when you use it correctly and often more accidentally it can interrupt opponents abilities while they were trying to use them and they'll be put on cool down even if it didn't or barely came out... I don't know if this can be used intentionally

    I don't know if anyone has ever mentioned it, but Snorlax had a hidden component to his passive gluttony. He gets a speed boost and running animation change when moving towards berries visible on the screen.
    It can be very powerful in certain situations, the move speed stacks with flail and can make ratting in certain quick match formats a real option.

    Using surf or hydro pump against a wall is kinda useful since you and your allies can attack them while they're stunned.

    In the early game you can forcely seperate the weak attacker or all rounder from the tank or support by using akull bash but they are near enoigj that if you use it you behind it now water gun shoves them depending on the distance from the user so the more vloser the more seperated

    I wonder if you surf at a pokemon defending a goal zone, hop off the back, and score, if your score shield can protect you long enough to get the dunk

    Holy Arceus Teeds dropping useful information yet again making even more of a monstrous threat then i already was which is kind of annoying since out of all the pokemon i use Blastoise i get single out the worse. Also if u don't mind can u tell me builds u use for Blastoise i use Focus band, Muscle band, and Buddy barrier is that good or no?

    I'm not sure, but i think the surf indicator is the range where you jump from the wave, and not the range of the wave itself

    Venasaur's Gigadrain reduces its CD by .5 (ithink) when you hit enemy champs with moves. All of pedal dances damage cause it to tick.
