Bandit Keith Also Had The Best Winning Strategy Ever: Gun.
Rare metalmorph was made to simulate the anime effect of Metalmorph. All machine monsters in the anime were immune to spell cards. They had a speial magic proof metal coating and thus were rare cards to help balance that insane power early on. Bandit Kieth having a full deck was insane so he also suplimented with Metalmorph which would turn a non machine monster into one. Thsi would upgrade their attack and give them the same magic proof metal coating. This actually would work well with Joey's deck as it not only beefed up his red eyes but made it immune to Time Wizard since that card was treated as a spell effect in the anime. Metalmorph fell very short of its anime counterpart for benefits and no one used it to summon the monsters it could as there were few and the tactic was clunky. More often than not it resulted in dead draws and was very comparable to a worse version if the Assault Mode mobsters later on. They made rare metalmorph to better honor what Metalmorph was all about while still making some compromises. Strangly it was made only for machine monsters whoch was the opposite to the point of the origional..though it kind of makes sense since the real card game did not give all machines the magic resisstamce they had in the anime.

Its funny because rare metalmorph is the worse card. It only affects Machine and protects it from one spell card but ot loses the gain half your opponents ATK when it attacks.

REDMD has nothing to do with Metalmorph. It was an actual card played by the final villain of GX and it was summoned by using a spell called Metal Plus on Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon, which had nothing to do with the original REBD, as far as I know.
Nono, RE Darkness Dragon is related to Black Dragon. It operates the same way as BE Shining Dragon
But you are right that Darkness Metal is not Metalmorph related. Though it is clearly a callback to the metalmorphed REBMD
I mean if you actually look at Red Eyes Darkness Dragon you would see it says "can be special summoned by tributing 1 Red-Eyes Black Dragon" so I mean it's kinda very directly related to Red Eyes
Though I believe Metal Plus is just an allusion to Metalmorph.

Metalmorph was one of my favorite cards in old formats and playground duels. Never good enough for competitive, but i always loved it.

The funny thing is you were actually better off just keeping the Red-Eyes Black Dragon equipped with metamorph because you would be slightly weaker but you would get better mileage out of it

I traded Rare Metal Morph 4 Blue-Eyes White 🐲 & my greedy & 🐽 headed 1/2 bro. wanted another card but I got what I wanted so fuck him.(It was 2004 & no1 expected Blue-Eyes White 🐲 to go for 5.6K. & he constantly said that he hated the Blue-Eyes White 🐲.)

It's weird that you had to get rid of metalmorph to summon the red eyes metal...it was exclusively a downgrade, normal red eyes with the effect of increasing its attack so much was way better than just a 400 atk higher monster
Should've just done ALL RED EYES cards. Would've been cool and impressive

Even if we get the metal dragon or w/e what we really wanna see is the card effects to say what it does on the Metalmorph card giving us half the atk of the monster we’re attacking which is the whole point of the card.
I used metal morph in my aromage deck on duel links. Oh god that thing can in so clutch sonetimes. Even better was using it with magician girls. Nothing like redirecting an attack twice then having half the base attack added to my monster.
I thought that during thevequipped monsters battle phase , it gains attack equal to its own attack. So red eyes with game 1200

I really like the metal morph cards. But in a physical duel the math is the freaking worst

I feel like metal versions of other monsters would be unstable and all over the place kinda like malefics. Allow me to explain my thoughts:
Malefics and Zefras suck within their own archetypes but are GREAT as support types depending on your deck
Metal exodia
We have so much Dark/Chaos/Zombie/toon counterpart and Metal that look cool was just forgot only have 4 monster but 2 been recent retrains of the Og
