Charlie Adelson's Lawyer Grills FBI Agent, Presses Him on Wire-Tapped Phone Calls

- Amid the release of additional wire-tapped phone calls in the hitman conspiracy murder trial on Wednesday, FBI Special Agent Patrick Sanford faced intense questioning from the defense. Adelson's lawyer grilled Sanford on his analysis of the defendant's conversations for any information related to the murder of his ex-brother-in-law Dan Markel. During his testimony, Sanford said he believed that Donna Adelson, Charlie Adelson's mother, was a co-conspirator in the murder case.

Its amusing to me how the agent is cracking up inside at this defense 😂
He’s trying so hard to not laugh at the bogus extortion story.
funny when he says "there was a lot of back and forth with many females" in the phone calls.
I know !!! It’s so obvious that they are making a fruitless defense!!
I can’t stand that the agent can’t just answer the questions
The bump was a brilliant move.
The irony is she hated living there and now her brother and possibly mother might have to live there for life
Not true. There are state prisons all over rural Florida. The local jail is in Tallahassee where he is being held until he is either convicted or acquitted
She may very well end up in prison too- she was up to her neck in this. Shame on all the Adelson’s for what they did, they should all be locked up.
@@H_da_6.5 Agree and Tallahassee is where the crime occurred. If convicted he could end up at a prison down South Florida or anywhere in Florida.
At the very least those boys need to go and be with their fathers parents the court just up and let Wendi and her family's sick devastating plan fall into place

I've never heard a lawyer in my entire life end every freakin question with the word 'right' lol what a clown!
This FBI agent is so cool and relaxed. He knows his story and is not intimidated by this defense lawyer whose task is to confuse him. I'm watching from Cape Town, South Africa.
Watching from Durban 😊 I wish more of our cases were shown online!!! Justice must be seen to be done
Watching from the Netherlands.
Watching from Queensland, Australia 🦘
Hey gentlemen! Wish we united over something a bit more positive. Watchin from Los Angeles, U.S.
I must be the only female in the chat here ?? Lol
Right! Worst lawyer ever!
Yes he is, I wouldn’t want that lawyer for free
The investigator is trying hard not to laugh at the attorney. 😂
Because he’s a joke!!
Charlie looking at him like “ I’m going to jail ain’t I?”
Bahahaha 😂😂😂😂😂
Charlie thinking darn, I should’ve spent my money on a better attorney
Yes! 😂😂😂
Lol exactly
Or I did all this for Wendi… and she is free
Chuck didn’t flee, but Mommy sure tried to!!
For all of Raushbaum's shenanigans and excessively dramatic voice tones and emotional antics he got nothing, zero, zilch. It must be embarrassing for him losing a case in an absolute record (three hours of jury deliberation and that is after they ordered lunch first). That's what I call all around justice
Well said!
Right and that made me sooo happy. Now I want Wendi!
He is the worst criminal defense attorney. He asked many questions in which either had a response without benefit, no point, and didn't tie in. Almost like he was attempting to testify in place of the witness due to his complete lack of strategy. Emotional outbursts were unprofessional, and his physical injuries were a ridiculous delay tactic.
Thank u i could not have said it better!
Family UMPA LUMPA.
I just cannot stand Raushbaums snarky tone & his made up defense is not credible
Or the way he says "threaDened" instead of threatened. It's been driving me insane 😂
HE'S slimy entitled and arrogant just like his client and his sister and mother
He’s trying hard that’s for sure
I hate him.
@@Melissa-xb1vf he has an odd accent

This case needs to wrap up.

Professor Jeff LaCasse Wendi’s ex bf said Wendi is a pathological liar & is superficially charming initially in public and a total backstabber behind their backs. Daniel always said his wife, Wendi has a lot of mental/emotional issues. Jeff LaCasse said the same thing. This whole family is systematically mentally ill. The eldest sibling, Rob has disengaged from the family. The only SANE one.
*Daniel always said that Wendi had a lot of...
Systematically personality disordered, not mentally ill. All apart from the distant brother. They all have twisted personality function that underlies such distorted, arrogant, murderous fantasising and planning.
I'd love to see Charlie's two lawyers take a lie detector test asking them if they think he is guilty
Oh, they KNOW he is guilty.
I don't know how they couldn't know he's guilty. This ridiculous story he's trying to get the jury to believe is hilarious.
But they are very bright lawyers
Idiotic statement
lie detector test are not admissable in court. they are not reliable.. they are tools used tto manipulate people.
Charlie looking forward to being extorted for prison commissary 😂
Maybe they'll put him on an affordable payment plan? Gang members are doing that now, apparently.
I hope they're still monitoring Donna's calls during the trial
"Correct?", "correct?", "correct?", "fair enough", "right?", "right?", "correct?".......i hate this lawyer so much!!!
Me too, hate this creepy, worthless, greedy, unprofessional, lawyer.
😂
Fair enough…😂
I feel the same way, and the way he sits there and acts like he’s laughing at the prosecutor and smelling his fingers, it’s disgusting
His defense is he didn’t run away….therefore he’s not guilty. Also, what’s with Chuckys eye blinks? Very creepy
"It's the "I'm going to prison tic".
Blink rate reflects Stress
Lol, ikr...I first noticed the eye blinking a few vids ago. Weird ....
His blinks are Morse code for “I’m guilty and screwed 6 ways to Sunday.”
@@valmarie4883 Hahaha! Good answer :)
He's not a good attorney. Asks so many questions, without indicating any point to said questions. If he's expecting to tie it all together later on, it's a horrible strategy.
“He didn’t use burner phones. I rest my case”
It's ridiculous burner phones weren't used very infrequently and in random locations.
Charley chose a JUNIOR HIGH attorney to represent him…big mistake!
FBI agent is more professional and probably smarter than the defence attorney - he definitely knows far more about the facts of the case than the defence attorney does. He has clearly been cross-examined by far better lawyers.
He’s definitely not feeling any stress from this “grilling”, he seems to be containing amusement more than anything
I don’t know what the defense is trying to prove with he didn’t flee argument, but all he’s doing for me is convincing me he has a smug client that thought he would get away with the whole thing.
Totally! I don’t know why he thinks the fact that his client didn’t flee as a sign of his innocence and not his arrogance
Not guilty
My thoughts exactly!
Absolutely
They’re coming for you, Donna!
And Wendi
The more I watch this trial, I am beginning to think Charlie is taking the blame for what his mother clearly planned all because of Wendi both of whom are clearly guilty and should be prosecuted. They walk and this Charlie takes the fall. Horrible sister and mother. I don't think any of this would have happened if not for the MOTHER!!! Poor Dan was killed for no good reason. Just selfish pride of the MOTHER.😢
Charlie is the one had the evil idea & hired the hitmen thru his lowlife girlfriend Katie. I believe none of the Aidelsons knew the hitmen Tato or Tuto . Katie assured charlie she would take care of it for 100K and she did! Her proffer was not needed as she still lied
Go back and look up the Wagner Trial the Mother had so many people killed so her son could have the baby. The son took the rap WTF 😒
I think he was the ring leader to try to impress mama and save sister now he’s going down
That Charlie is as guilty as the mother and sister, why you wanna exclude that evil guy for? Are you in love with him?🤨🙄
Mom, son and daughter is involved in this murder, the dad probably is as well by paying for the hit but I'm still not sure about him.... Lock the rest up for life with NO possible parole for a minimum of 75 years..
It's obvious with all the evidence that the ENTIRE family is guilty. Wendi you're up next!
Not their dog!
Absolutely
18:26 when your lawyer says, "What could this note be?" to his own notes....guess what, you've got a problem buddy😂
17:56 I just love how he aggressively cross off his question, like...yeah that question got him😂😂😂
defense is so weak. he's clearly guilty along with his annoying mom and spoiled sister..
I would like to date her! But I would be afraid to break up with her!
This attorney is so weak
In the FBI’s phraseology, the first meeting between an agent and a potential informant is known as “The Bump.”
I didn’t know that.
It was called the bump because you often bump into people in the street.
This whole episode is sad, just sad. There are no winners, on either side and the saddest part is the loss of the boys and the relationship with their dad that they should have had.
Yes, it is very sad. I know the family - and it is heartbreaking. I'm not saying Charlie is innocent or guilty - I don't know - but Donna and Harvey were always very kind to me. I knew Charlie and met Wendi once.
@@zbagz01they are definitely guilty. Doesnt matter how nice they are to you. Remember they were too kind to Katie? Giving her free money every month? Giving Harvey’s lexus to Katie?. Stay away from Adelson. They will frame you next lol😂
After the all years working in their Business with a lots of patients, being known for the community
and society and enjoying the benefits from that; what a shame being exposed in front of the world for their prideful, selfish desires! Some day in a close future the boys will realize what the maternal family did to their dad and will find out the truth (probably the’ll confront Wendy). Life is not how We star it… is how We end it because of our choices and decisions!
Justice for Dan and the boys!
I like the judge…. Very polite to both parties, self controlled!
@@RukhShariq I'm just saying it is sad - and I agree that it doesn't matter that they were nice to me. I'm no longer in Florida (thankfully) so no chance I will run into them again.
That FBI agent is better then every FBI character in a movie. Sitting there with his pin on the Suite, chilling his life. His face game is on point.
*The FBI agent on the stand is better than every actor playing an FBI agent in a movie, sitting there with a pin on his lapel.

The defense attorney was getting a lot of things wrong. Especially when he cross examined Katie.

He's like Steve Carrell except not funny (except when he has all the tech issues).

@@Asidebar according to Charlie the lawyer boasts fantastic closing skills. Oooopps
I live in a rural county in Maryland & we have much better lawyers here.

Does anybody else think that Charlies defense attorney is trying to audition to be Johnny Depps next Attorney?😅
The fact that Charlie Adelson didn't change his phone number and residence doesn't mean anything to show innocence. Most people would know that it would do nothing to keep the police from finding as suspect.
Charlie was too cocky and arrogant to think he would get caught so why change his phone number and address or even move? I bet he’s not feeling too good now.
I’ve not been watching this from the beginning but from the few days I’ve been watching, they have no “absolute” evidence against him. Also, when the calls came in, he wasn’t hiding anything, trying to hush anyone up especially the mom when talking. He when on the phone really had no idea why she got the letter nor what it was about. He wasn’t being secretive at all…unless he was trying to be careful for someone else’s worry. Again, I’ve only been watching a few days, but I think it’s possible he will get off.
@@maryreynolds5310There is no such thing as “absolute” evidence. There is direct or circumstantial evidence and both carry the same weight.
There is a ton of circumstantial evidence against Charlie and if you use your critical thinking skills you too will see how guilty he is. Think about this; why would 2 members of the Latin Kings rent a car and drive hours to kill a random guy? They wouldn’t. The connection was Katy. And how did Katy know who Dan was? CHARLIE. I’ve watched the Dateline show on this case and at least 2 other documentary type shows with interviews and now the trial from the start. He’s guilty. So is Donna, the Dad and Wendy. They all conspired to have Dan killed and they all should be in prison. ⚖️

He knows he has to ask a question so he casually pastes it to the end of each “question”. I hate that as well. so aggravating.
Agent Sanford seems like such a sweet guy. I’m sure he does his job well, meaning: he reacts according to what his job demands of him… but I think under normal circumstances he’s a sweetheart.
The defence doin its damndest to put a sliver of doubt into anyone's mind.
Donna Wendi, stay close by, as you're done.

The defense attorney has zero charisma while the agent is very charismatic.
Next could the FBI ask why Donna and Charlie spent a lot of their first conversation after the Bump wondering if it was the IRS? Could it be the cash payments they encourage in their Dental practice? Or the safes full of money? Maybe the IRS should do a Bump er Audit.
that’s a silly thing to say. The IRS is nobody’s friend!
I think the defense has been weak and less than credible and everyone knows it. Good time Charlie has got the blues...

Rashbaum should have focused more on explaining Charlie’s lies. We already know Katherine lied, and her explanation makes sense. Charlie’s lies make no sense.
There is no cohesiveness or logical flow or theme to this questioning by defense attorney. I think this happens when you have a LYING defendant.
That was such a *VERY STIPUD QUESTION,* asking the agent, you don’t kn I w why Charlie didn't go to the police?? If course because he was *FREAKING GUILTY!!* WHY ELSE???
Rashbaum was up there asking useless questions. Lol

Let the games begin
My client didn't try to flee... he was going with the extortion plan, that plan didn't work (found guilty). So his mother and father tried the flee plan (unfortunately that didn't work either).
Ole Charlie is so arrogant in his belief he's going to get away with murder, trying to make the point that he traveled to countries that didn't extradite and still returned is absurd! The whole family has this sense of entitlement and will clearly do anything to have things their way. I hope every last one are prosecuted. They are shameless!
Why would a murdering narcissist who had his brother in law killed so his sister could come and reside within his state move?? Katy said it herself, he would refer to himself as untouchable.
Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) involves a pattern of self-centered, arrogant thinking and behavior, a lack of empathy and consideration for other people, and an excessive need for admiration. Others often describe people with NPD as cocky, manipulative, selfish, patronizing, and demanding. This fits Charlie to a tee!!!
Fits the whole family.
Don't diagnose what you haven't examined or got qualifications for. According to UA-cam university, everyone has NPD. Wouldn't be a DIS order then, would it?
Him trying to prove she is a liar is pointless at this point b/c she already said she lied. Like the jury knows she is a liar!! Everyone knows that! That’s why you have to rely on the evidence to determine if she is still lying
Little man grilling FBI agent !! He thinks I hope you find out just how bad Charlie is 🤭🤬
What are the chances of him telling the whole truth after he is sentenced, or right before?.
This FBI agent has excellent character in my opinion. He’s very laid back and comes across as a straight shooter as far as law enforcement goes. The city police including most detectives act like animals and act like criminals with badges.
That’s what happens when you pay decent wages, offer decent benefits, and give your officers/agents decent training.
The departments and agencies that offer the best wages, benefits, training, etc. get the best people. No surprise that substandard departments get substandard applicants, and that the truly good ones who stay there do so simply because they are rooted in the community end up being outnumbered
After watching the jury selection videos... I'm assuming the jury at this point has already made up their mind
Why does he keep blinking he needs to go to speck savers 😂😂😂😂
He need to be in jail
He has dry eye. . . I have it as well and that's what you do, blink a lot.

Is so funny and pathetic how lawyers try to stretch the case longer wishing the outcome will be successful on their side but that is improbable and we all know it !! Oh well that’s what lawyers do I guess.
it's literally their job and Charlie's right to have an adequate defense
Fair enough… you can’t make this dude look innocent
I love how Patrick Sainford from the FBI is cool calm and collected like a boss!
So once everyone is in prison, one for life. The one who got life decides to turn state witness after receiving life.
She starts by lying under oath.
Now she says she's telling the truth.
Nah I don't buy it.
And just like that all the other mountains of evidence magically disappeared.
People who turn state’s evidence are unreliable narrators, inherently-that’s the nature of the beast. With that said, Katie’s testimony in this trial seemed truthful to me because it matched the tons of evidence presented by the prosecution.
Hubris does not equate to innocence. 🙄
Defense lawyer needs to return to law school
What I would like to see is how the bump was prepared and discussed before an exact scenario was beeing choosen and executed - I am sure a lot of brainstrorming went into that one.
