I really enjoyed your Cape Town tour. As a Kaapie, ths is a well documented tour. There is sooooo much more just around the other tip of the iceberg. Awesome braai
If you visit Cape Town one day. Don't forget to visit the Castle of Good Hope. I live in Pretoria. Cape Town is just the beginning of what could be an adventure.
Cape Townian over here- I approve of all your recommendations. However, there are tons more in Cape Town that are not as well known. Next time you’re here, let me know and I will be happy to take you to all of the undercover options 😄
That's really funny, I only just know looked up the proper pronounciation 😂 I normally look up pronunciations before making videos, but the crazy thing is I was *so* confident (incorrectly) that I was right about this one that I didn't even bother to look it up. Geez. 😂🙈😂
Hey, Mr Get Lost thx for making another SA vid. We had Ostrich in Oudtshoorn 7 (?) years ago during a trip to SA. I can't remember it leaving any kind of impression on me 😄 I do love bobotie though! Thx for letting me know about the Time Out Market, I'd never even heard about it. Sucks that no-one has invited you for a braai (sies julle Suid Afrikaners) if you're still there in Aug when we visit again we can make it happen. You sure those are koeksisters? Koeksisters have a very distinct shape - think greasy fried braided hair🤣
Ah thank you for watching it! I do actually think the Time Out market opened in Cape Town pretty recently! And totally possible, they were labelled as Koeksisters at the restaurant (if you watch the video when they're in the display case you'll see) but that doesn't mean they were right 😂
About pulling over and braaing on Chapman's peak, I would advise you don't, unless there are designated fire pits. There have been some enormous wildfires on and around Table Mountain recently and it is quite risky to have an open fire like that. Again, if there is a designated cooking area, like on a campsite or picnic area, go for it :)
Cape Malay koesisters are very good, but if you didn't have a traditional Afrikaans koeksister, which is a completely different thing, you missed out. That said, I'm glad you enjoyed your time in our beautiful country, and if you were ever to visit again, you should go to the bushveld as well. It is the polar opposite of the mother city, wild and rugged, but be warned though, once the red soil of Africa settles in your soul, you'll never want to leave again.
2:50 Was she a good witch or a bad witch? 🤔 That is the question... 4:52 Awesome views from that bus ride. 🤩 5:50 🎶Red, red wine...stay close to me...🍷🎶🥴🤣 7:14 The Boerewors Roll (Farmer's Sausage) or the Gatsby would be my go-to there. 😋
It is really sad you left South Africa without a proper braai, come back, and contact me or anyone, we will braai with you, but seriously, come back, will hook you up with a braai that will make you say BBQ what? plus next time go a little more in land, try Knysna, you will love it there, do it during their oyster festival time. Also you cannot go wrong visiting the East coast, but west coast remains the best. Loved the video. bring friends next time and seriously let us show you how to braai
Thank you so much!! 🙏🏻 I will be back and I will for sure be coming with friends next time, there is so much to show other people, it's really amazing! And yes, I may take you up on that, a good group for a Braai sounds like an amazing time!
The Malay culture is descended from Malaysian Slaves brought to Cape Town by the Dutch from the colonies there. Its one of the formative strains of the uniqueness of Western Cape culture. Excellent production. keep it up, a breath of fresh air.
Oh interesting! They were labelled as Koeksisters at the restaurant (if you watch the video when they're in the display case you'll see the sign) but that doesn't mean the restaurant had it right 😂
@@Get.Lost.Travel The koe-sister (one k) is derived form the Indonesian "kueh sago" and "kueh lapis." The koek-sister (two ks) is derived from a combo of the french tresse and the dutch olykoeks. Olykoeks is also the origin of the American doughnut and tresse is a plat. So its basically just a glazed donut where the dough is platted in a twist.

Love love love your videos ❤❤
Awe thank you so much!! That means a lot! I appreciate you watching and taking the time to say hi!! ❤️🙏🏻😊
Yip, Braaing is the act of grilling meat over hot coals. Barbeque on the other hand, is a spice. As simple as that!
Makes sense to me! 🍖
Looks like Cape Town will be a place you remember for a long long time, what a trip!
Most definitely, it was incredible!
I live like 2 houses down from Bismillah, infact my house was even in this video, nice video man!
No way! Wow what a cool place to live! Thank you so much!! 🙏🏻🇿🇦
Phenomenal as always! Really hope to visit Cape Town some day!

Ooo I love that-- leveling up to the secret world known only to locals! I'll have to let you know next time I'm in the area, I'm very intrigued 😊
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
Thank you!!! 🙏🏻
LOVED IT!!!! ❤
😂 Thank you!!! ❤️
Mariams Kitchen, you cant go wrong. But my favourite meal is the full house masala steak and egg gatsby cut in four. Otherwise a masala steak salomi.
I love the way you tried to pronounce Malawi! hahaha!

My fevered is the Bobotie and I am South African. Yes koeksiters are very sweet and very stickie. Braai is the no 1 event in every house.
Afrikaner Koeksisters and Cape Malay koe'susters are two completely different things.
loved it
I'm so glad, thank you for watching! ❤️

And Den Anker has great fries and mussels. There is also a very good asian restaurant called Willoughby's in that mall in the waterfront.
This is a good tip, thank you!! 🙏🏻
Slight correction Cape Malay makes koesisters not to be confused with the Afrikaaners koeksisters which is a totally differrent thing.
U got the 100th like from me
🎉1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣🎉
Ostrich is delicious, ostrich mince is perfect in pasta and ostrich neck is a delicious replacement for oxtail
I'm definitely intrigued by it! Excited to try it in other ways 🤩

I really did, I'll be back for sure, and I'll try to get over to Bushveld! I believe it completely, it's so beautiful, I already miss it!

😂 She seemed nice enough? Supposedly blessing the people. Yeah the sandwiches there are insane, and so cheap too. Really really good 🤩

Farmer's sausage ayoooo 7:13
😂 The best!
While other Americans think that Africa is Hungry 😂😂
Shout out to you 🤙
Congratulations
🙏🏻
It's pronounced Cooksisters .... or local slang Coo-seester
The Malay culture is descended from Malaysian Slaves brought to Cape Town by the Dutch from the colonies there. Its one of the formative strains of the uniqueness of Western Cape culture. Excellent production. keep it up, a breath of fresh air.
The history of the area is soo interesting, I loved learning about that! Thank you so much, that's very kind!! 🙏🏻❤️
Dude, your pronunciation is a killer😂
😂 I'm sorry I do try!
😂😂😂 the word malawi pronunciation is Ma-la-we
Ostrich is the best meat I've ever had
I had it prepared two very different ways while I was there, the first I didn't really like, but the second (at Gold restaurant) was delicious!
Im really sorry for you. That wasn't a great braai experience 😂
Don't be! I can safely say that my tastebuds are the only ones who know the experience I had, and it was great for me!
It's not MAL LAY ....
It's MA LAY. Malaysia.
More like Mi'Lord ... Yes, Mi-Lady ..... Ma-lay
Those aren't koeksisters, those look like what we call vetkoek
Oh interesting! They were labelled as Koeksisters at the restaurant (if you watch the video when they're in the display case you'll see the sign) but that doesn't mean the restaurant had it right 😂
There are boere style koeksusters & the cape Malay koesusters are different - more spice & coconut is sprinkled after the syrup

Pinotage... always reminds me of Denzel Washington's character in Safe House praising it as a beautiful grape.
I haven't seen that! I love Denzel though, I'll be giving it a watch soon for sure 🤩
